Thanks for bringing out about those vintage strap buttons that dont seem to be compatible with any locks ....hopfully some outfit will fabricate a lock that works with those vintage buttons...
Seriously! I would buy that system in a heartbeat. It already kills me to even replace the buttons on some of my non-vintage models so I don’t think I could bring myself to change these reissue ones out. Thanks so much for the comment.
I PLAYED A 1967 366/12 UNTIL IT WAS STOLEN THREE YEARS AGO. McGuinn is/was definitely the master, even more than Harrison. Thanks for acknowledging his genius! The "Rick-O-Sound" put the neck and bridge pickups into separate channels through a quarter inch stereo plug.
OMG stolen?? That's awful. On a better note, if you haven't heard McGuinn and Hillman's 50th Anniversary of Sweetheart of the Rodeo album yet, you should give it a listen- before and after they play the country stuff, they play all the great Byrds songs and McGuinn's still got it!! (so does Hillman)
Thanks for the great video. Rickenbacker's are works of art. George Harrison had TWO Rickenbacker 12 string guitars. Yours is like his first one the 1963 360/12. He was also given another one, a 1964 360/12 with the more rounded body. He played that one on "If I Needed Someone". Alas his second one mysteriously "disappeared" in the mid 1960s and has never been seen since. Your C63 is pretty much a clone of Harrison's first 360/12. Over the years it has been reported that George's first RIC 360 DID have Rick-O-Sound. But recent analysis of the instrument confirms it was wired as a Dual Mono version. Don't worry about the "R' tailpeice. The trapeze tail peice is much more robust and better suited to 12 string models. It is not unheard of for the "R" tailpeice to explode into pieces damaging the guitar and player alike. I don't agree that Rickenbacker 12 strings are ONE TRICK PONIES. Many different types of artists have used this great guitar over the decades to create very different sounds. Some, like Marty Wilson-Piper of The Church going so far as to restring his in the conventional 12 string manner. Of course, they sound superb in all their jangle and chime glory. But with the right set up, they can sound pretty incredible with a bit of distortion. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

It's so tough finding people to talk to about these things, especially because I'm not into just one guitar or brand (though I have been leaning Gibson recently). I finally got to play the Rick at a concert a couple weeks ago (video coming soon!) and it got such a great reaction from everyone. I don't think anyone even knew that a guitar could have 12 strings! And I just love that sound so much that I'll keep using it in recordings. Thanks again for writing- cheers from the States!
I think it might be too late now. I've had this thing for almost 8 years and I'm afraid if I take the sticker off it'll just show a circle on the pick guard where the sticker would be! Maybe at some point I'll just buy a new pick guard to replace this one (or I guess I could try removing the sticker and buy a new guard if the "shadow" is there!)

You said thos is a reissue. Can you confirm if this has the .0047uF capacitor connected to the bridge pickup asthe the Harrison's had?
