Vicky, I am gay but I am not out. You are such a beautiful person I love how brave and courageous you are. Thank you for helping me in my own gay-christian life. I love you and I know God does too.

Vicky is absolutely right - she's simply pointing out the obvious fault lines in our theology, as did Jesus.

Vicky, I agree that often the church has a long way to go in terms of making LGBT members feel like a valued part of God's family. HOWEVER, I think the same can be said about many of the church's attitudes towards anyone who is single, regardless of their orientation, or indeed anyone who struggles with a particularly painful issue. The Bible celebrates singleness as a blessing, it celebrates our differences, and we as a church family should too.
It's dangerous territory to so strongly point the finger at the Church and other Christians because it just further strengthens the secular viewpoint that the church is rife with homophobia which I just do not believe is a fair statement that can be applied to all Churches. Also at the end of the day the issue isn't what the physical Church says; it's what God says. There seems to be a very obvious lack of Biblical reference in this interview.....
