Not sure of your point. My old K-x had the same issue of low light focus. No issue with my K-5, functioning as the K-30 does in the video.
Where to find a screw motor ? or just remove the SDM, and powered by body ?
but aren't you using phase detect on the Kx, and contrast detect on the K30?
very good result, I ask instruction for my 16 50? help! thanks
What is the benefits of using screw driver motor in stead of SDM?? Thanks.
How do you do it with the K-30, i found this guide using PK_Tether, but it doesnt support k-30 =7 Can i use another camera to fix this? or is it possible with k-30?
invoke3 No you can not use k-30 to update lens rom. I was able to update the rom with my old K100D. The lens now works beautifully on my K-5.
I would like to inform anybody having the known SDM failure first to try the following "repair" (my AF was not completely dead but was only working in 1 of 20 cases or it focussed veeeeeery slowly in tiny steps by repeatedly pressing the button):
- Turn on your camera and focus any object by pressing half down the release button
- manually move the focus ring back and forth
- check if AF is working again by focussing objects in different distance.
- you may repeat these steps until the AF is alive again
Good luck :-)
You don't have to repair a broken SDM and SDM does broke on many DA*16-50
do all pentax digital camera's even the new k3 have a screw drive focus .
sure
Of course Kx and K30 are SDM cameras.
This is done by a rom modification to the lens.
Instructions can be found by searching for "deactivate sdm and allow for screw drive"
what is wrong with screw drive reliable way of focus pretty much bullet proof
all mechanical.
