I guess this was at the earliest part of the filming of TU where the the producers attempted to change the original story in the novel. But because of the barrage of comments from the netizens, they sticked with the origl version but tempered to pass the strict censorship of the country. So these scenes were not actually shown in the actual drama.
I would say, it was for Wei Ying, filial affection and friendship (like with Childe Nie, Wen Ning and Jiang Chen) because she cared for her brother, Wen Ning like his senior sister for him and gratitude for saving Jiang Chen and helping Lan Zhan and their family during the Wens subduction and sense of justice. If Wei Ying wants to be with Lan Zhan, the one he loves and his siblings, he must protect others too, you can only deserve love and be together when others in your surroundings and associates are happy too. As for Wen Qing, she was affected by seeing Lan Zhan and Wei Ying's love and beautiful relationship. It was Lan Zhan's unconditional love and dedication for Wei Ying, Wei Ying love for Lan Zhan, his dedication and sacrifices for his siblings and others and his siblings affection for him, and even Jiang Chen proposing to her once is what made her look up to him, further Wen Ning's fondness and Wei Ying loving and missing Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan's love and We Ying yearning for Lan Zhan and j his siblings affection is what made her develop attachment.
