what is the difference between the question in 40:53 and 1:10:26. i don't really understand why we have to do four smiley face instead of just doing one smiley face ..?
And also, how do i know whether i should use four smiley face or one ?

For 1:10:26, if we find composite index for 2012/2010 and we found 111.75 by using the second formula ,isnt it the same if the question says that the cost of making this machine is increased by 11.75% from year 2010 to 2012? After that, straight do one smily face can dy since we have composite index for 2010/2008 and composite index for 2012/2010

Hi dear. The answer will be different if we do smiley face method for composite index instead of one by one. Doing it individually only will get the most accurate answer unless all increase by the same percentage. Understand? :)
For 1:30:04,if (d) also call us to find composite index for year 2007/2000, can we straight use composite index for year 2007/2006 and composite index of 2006/2000 to do ONE smiley face only since we already calculate the composite index for 2007/2006 fo or we nid to do FOUR smiley face to find the price index for 2007/2000 and calcalute the composite index for 2007/2000 using formula?
@@TanYannJu I have the same question as Calvin where my answer is 135.7763, just slightly different from yours. You said the answer will be different but can you explained why there are such difference? Thank you.
Cannot dear because the answer will be different. You must understand each items if they have different price changes and we need to take note that their frequency (weightage) is different as well, therefore the changes affection will be affected by the weightage too. This explain why we must do one by one but not lump sum. But if the question mentioned overall increase 30%, then we can do one smiley face as the increment provided is for overall but no detail info. Understand?
@@TanYannJu so when I do composite index for 12 based on 10 which I got 111.75 it cannot represent the cost of making that machine increase by 11.75% isn't it? If can, then this question is just like the question at 40:53.
