I simply loved everything about the video, the brief yet fruitful explanation was on point. I liked how we were shown different options; experimenting. I got a lot and it is all thanks to you! THANK YOU.
Honestly in my personal opinion, as a small content creator that has very little money to try and do subscriptions it is very nice for us. The only thing that I personally dislike is not having the ability to export in 1080p for that decent look. My videos always end up pixelated unless its on a mobile device. While yes it would be nice to export 1080p I understand that the app is free and not everyone could get the best quality when starting out.
I'm glad you're enjoying Lightworks. We often have some really great deals on where you can get a pro membership at a reduced price, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Thank you for the helpful quick video! I've been using the free version of Lightworks for years. I really appreciate that you offer it, as well as a treasure-trove of tutorials that helped me a lot in the beginning. One question: For that text effect in the beginning of this video, was that created outside of Lightworks? I'd love to be able to do more with my text in the program. Thanks again!
Hey YBT! Thanks for the feedback, glad you've been enjoying LW 👍 You can create that text effect and hundreds of others using the Advanced Titling tool available in LW Create and LW Pro... It is a paid upgrade, starting at $9.99 per month for LW Create.
Thank you so much for making this video! This is super helpful because I'm used to editing on my phone but I'm starting to try and edit on my laptop in case: my phone is flat, i can't use my phone, or my footage is on my laptop. So this is really helpful for someone like me!
this video is literally helping me in every single things i need to know about video editing, i mean like there's other software company who do the same tutorial like this but this one right here are literally the best one out there. love the video !
thanks for this i just started to edit my videos and my laptop kinda slow so i choose this kind of video editting software coz i think this will fit for my 2gb ram laptopp 2, thank you so much lightworks for this software and tutorial!
Thank you for the video! If you are planning any new content, I‘d love to learn more about advanced editing tools like selecting and routing tracks when editing into a crowded timeline, eg just using audio track 3+4 from a video clip and cutting it onto specific tracks on my sequence. Also, is there a tool like „extend edit“ in other NLEs, to move in or out points of a clip in the timeline to the position indicator (aka cursor).
for this I would either edit the sequences before bringing it into the timeline, or if it's already in the timeline, you can switch off different tracks (e.g. switch off the video tracks) so that you, for example, can cut your audio without cutting the video at the same time. hope this helps.. this is an amazing tool and I've done hundreds of youtube videos in this already
Great video and explanation of software , i am new to this editing world but this software is great and easy, could you also please do some tutorial video on that text effect the one in the beginning. Thanks again
Hi Faisal. We may try and do a tutorial on that sort of graphics work one day. For now we're focussed on getting the basics covered for everyone. Watch this space though!
Thank you for the video. I was using shotcut which was a bit difficult for me. Once I got used to It however, it started crashing and certain things just stopped working. Many thanks for this video. I was wondering if you could tell me which software you used for the screen capture? And the format that this was exported in?
The screen footage is captured in OBS as a 3820 x 2160 .mov, and then the final video is exported at 3820 x 2160 .mp4, although it is actually a 1080p edit. We export at 4k for various reasons, including better image quality once RUclipss compression has had its way with the video.
@@LWKSVIDEO many thanks for your reply. You’re working with a much higher native screen resolution than me, that’ll be why my videos don’t look as good :).
That's odd. Could you be on an older version? Can you go to app.lwks.com/downloads/lightworks and download the latest version of Lightworks. If the problem persists after that, you can contact our support team at lwks.com/report-a-problem/
Your video was helpful. If you want to add an image to your video and expand it, how do you do it? My husband and I are having a hard time doing this. We know how to insert it but it's less than a second long. We want it to be 10 seconds long.
"Here" we have our project screen. Where is that please? When I go to your website, the free option takes me to a page to create an account. I created an account. When I select the free option, it takes me to the profile editor for my account. Where is the free version you advertised please? I can't begin to follow the beginners guide until I have the software. Cheers.
When you're in your account, go to the downloads page, and download the version of Lightworks for your operating system. Once you open up Lightworks and log in to it, if you don't have a paid membership tied to your account then you'll just be using the free version. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the video, I tried editing a video, and the audio was displaying and sounding normal for me in lightworks and after I exported, but when I sent it to other people, they only heard left track audio
hi! i need to know something... if i re-install it using this updated version *i downloaded it just now cause i was getting the requested project does not exist" error *, will my video that i worked on before it happened still be in-tact? & thankyou ^^
I can't see why not! Your projects are stored locally on your machine, to be accessed by whatever version of Lightworks you have installed. If you do have any problems then let us know and we'll do our best to resolve those for you.
I’m editing a video right now and I can’t add more than two layers of sound effects at the same time, is there anyway I could add more layers of sound effects to make my film more realistic?
You import audio files using the same method as used for importing video files. Right click on the sequence timeline, this opens the sequence menu, then left click on export and select how you wish to export.
I have a video of someone talking, and when I import it into Lightworks, the audio is really fast and the person sounds like a chipmunk. Also, the audio finishes earlier than it's supposed to. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Head to the VFX panel and look for the text effect. Nice and easy to use :) You can see a form of it in action here: ruclips.net/video/gZVsHTdy7wI/видео.html
it takes soooo looong to watch and listen to a part of a video to check if it's the part I need to cut out. Lightworks stops responding for a moment before the the section starts playing and then the audio cuts out after 5 seconds. It takes even longer to export the video cut up, the progress bar wouldn't move, it started working on something in the background that it didn't tell me about so I had to delete all the stuff I was working on and kill it in task manager, the start it back up, then the "C" key stopped working and I couldn't cut it, so I just uninstalled it.
That does sound right at all. Lightworks is known for it's smooth running! Did you have the latest version of the software? And what sort of footage were you editing?
You sure can, although remember you will be limited to 720p when you export. If you just need it for a one off project, you could always take out a single months subscription.
Whats the difference between a fade in using the corner and creating a fade in manually using key frames? I used the keyframes to make audio start loud and get quiet and I dragged the corner creating a fade from quit to loud. Like an "X", my theory is that it should have constant loudness, but it didnt, why?
Keyframes are a master control for the volume, whereas the corner fade is more of an external effect accountable to the volume. When you've turned the volume down using keyframes, you've effectively turned it off. The fade can't increase the volume because there's no volume to increase anymore. Does that make sense? Another way to think about it; You're in a room with a bright light, and you put on some sunglasses. It affects the brightness of the room. You turn the light off, and the room becomes pitch black. Putting the sunglasses on has zero effect now; the room is the same with them on or off. This is because there is no light left to have an impact on. The volume is your light, and the sunglasses are your fade. It can't affect something that isn't there.
@@LWKSVIDEO Thanks that makes sense, on a related note once i let go of the fade im not able to grab onto it again to move it. You were able to adjust it in the video twice, why?
I have a question, when I first downloaded it said Free Version then said 80 or 90 days I forgot, does that mean I can only use the free version for 80 days before I have to pay for it?
Hi there! No, it's free forever. We just have to refresh your licence for boring backend reasons. You will just be asked to log in again, and then you'll be back using the free version.
Too bad the free version doesnt let you choose the size of the video, all I was looking for. Seems like a good editor but since I edit movies not so often the pro version is not for me.
Apologies! That button is left over from when there was also a beta version download button next to it. We will look at having it changed/removed. If you click on any of the download links below it, they will be the latest versions.
2 things to try: 1) Do you have caps lock on? That can affect keyboard shortcuts. 2) Try resetting the key assignments back to default. Open Lightworks to the project browser, click 'System Settings' select 'Key assignments' Click the settings icon on the panel that opens (three vertical dots) click 'Revert to default assignments' If neither of those work, then it must be a bug. Please fill in the form here: lwks.com/report-a-problem/ and one of the team will get back to you.
Something I could see being a enticing offer. Maybe on some days, we all could get a taste of pro.. What I mean is, on days like oh say, the anniversary of Lightworks' original release. Allow all users access to the features of the pro version for a small window of time. Maybe even made so it could last until their next export, in any format. *To give them time to learn the Pro features, and create a masterpiece* So they can get their feet wet so to speak, and be able to get a feel whether they should take the plunge and buy the pro version options. Sure watching a tutorial is one thing, but having a real taste of the real deal, even limited.. Now that, could be an attractive thing.
Hey Electrobob... That's a great idea. I'm going to check to see how easy this would be to implement from a technical perspective and then take it to the big bosses! Have a great day...
I was looking at the comments under this video, and they're all like "Thanks for this great tutorial". And I am thinking: where are all those people who think that this is not great and is not a tutorial as it's simply a bunch of info quickly jammed together and as such is unclear and pretty much unhelpful? I guess they're too shy to say so as it puts them at risk to look less intelligent than all those folks thanking this vid. So, I'll say it for them. This is not a tutorial and this is not helpful. And now I have to go and look for someone on YT who can actually present this material in clear way.
I'm sorry this hasn't helped you. These aren't intended to be proper, in depth tutorials, but rather quick start guides aimed at getting users up and running as quickly as possible - so you're not wrong in saying it's a bunch of info quickly jammed together! That is, to an extent, the intent. That being said, we appreciate some users would prefer a more long form and in-depth tutorial, and that is something we are looking to work on in the future.
There is a range of more advanced video tutorials, these can be accessed by clicking on the LWKS below the video. The above video appears to be for beginners taking their first steps, if you check out the range of Lightworks videos currently available and follow the procedures many of the advanced editing features are covered. The range of videos is currently being extended, but even the older videos can be useful because they cover the functions that more experienced users need, such as using the keyboard shortcuts and the flexible layout. However, these videos have the depth that newcomers may find of putting, hence the requirement for a more basic "get you going" video.
Desafortunadamente, actualmente no tenemos los recursos para lanzar una versión en español, pero es algo que nos gustaría analizar en el futuro. Estoy usando el traductor de Google, así que disculpas si hay algún error en esto.
I suspect the reason that creating the title isn't included in the video is that it's too complex a procedure to be included in a beginners guide. There are basic title effects available in Lightworks, but you need a combine them with other effects within Lightworks to do anything more than having standard text effects like drop shadow etc. The Create and Pro license Lightworks come bundled with NewBlue Title Pro 7, which allows customizing shape, colour, animation etc to create different looks in your titles.

Not true. 90 days is the length of a free license, but the license simply renews for another 90 days when you log back in. So it is free forever. You just have to log back in every 90 days. It's just to do with some backend server stuff.

Hey Electrobob... That's a great idea. I'm going to check to see how easy this would be to implement from a technical perspective and then take it to the big bosses!
Have a great day...
i installed it and its just a folder what do i do
What OS are you installing it on?
Wait how did he edit the video while he was making a video and editing that video....
Movie magic :)
BEEST!!!
some reason the audio is completely fucked when i import it from obs
In what specific way is it fudged?
You may have exported mkv from OBS, which has limited support. Using mp4 usually solves these issues.
I wish you could import a youtube video id
How do i loop a audio?
As in, just have it start again once the track finishes? Or create a seamless loop?
@@LWKSVIDEO How do I create a seamless loop?
U didn't explain how you got the title
So how did u get the title
I suspect the reason that creating the title isn't included in the video is that it's too complex a procedure to be included in a beginners guide. There are basic title effects available in Lightworks, but you need a combine them with other effects within Lightworks to do anything more than having standard text effects like drop shadow etc. The Create and Pro license Lightworks come bundled with NewBlue Title Pro 7, which allows customizing shape, colour, animation etc to create different looks in your titles.
My video is not saving together is splitting

We'll try and get to the bottom of this for you. Are you on a PC or a Mac?
@@LWKSVIDEO thankyou ^^ i'm on a pc :>
i do still have the video of my pokemon 25th aniversary, though, from when i downloaded it off of it :D but i want the whole thing still on the software, for when i have to edit it :>
you don't think its cause i installed a new version of it, do you? hmm...
It is only active for 90 days so not really a free unlimited version.
Not true. 90 days is the length of a free license, but the license simply renews for another 90 days when you log back in. So it is free forever. You just have to log back in every 90 days. It's just to do with some backend server stuff.
Imagin you edited this video using Lightworks 🤣#
We sure did!
