Based on the pleats and slit, I think you’re wearing the first skirt backwards! It’s very common for older skirts to have that button/zipper at the center back (and almost never in the center front)
If the Velcro is on the inside of each shoulder it’s because there use to be removable shoulder pads attached with Velcro. I have a button up that had them :)

Use wax paper on your bag’s zipper to make it easier to open and close! It’s an old retail trick I learned a while back!
Or the base of a candle, if you have that but don’t have wax paper in the house 🙂
