Part of the reason people are taking COVID19 so seriously is because we get to see how the world is changing every day. They're comparatively isolated, even with production giving them status updates, so COVID19 probably hasn't fully sunk in for them.

I was honestly hoping for somebody, just ONE single person, to say, “I thought the news was going to be worse” or “ we finally get to see our families.” Most of these people were just upset they were leaving the show... it’s a bit sad honestly.

I hope it's the latter reason because damn, it's going to be a shock for them when they enter the real world again. At least for us we saw the gradual progress/daily updates of the outbreak while they have to adjust quickly.

I'd imagine that this is one of those psychological situations where it can be a bit of both, but one more than the other. Although it seems on the surface that they're upset by the virus, which to an extent they will be, there are some clues there from what they're saying that they're distraught that any potential future opportunities that may come from BB are now gone.
For example it was telling when the sikh man said that his dream had been crushed. Some if not most of them will be more upset about the end of the show and potential opportunities than the virus alone.

Not sure how it works in Canada, but in addition to a chance at the prize money, the cast is an actual cast and are given a payment for every week they survive. It’s one of the reasons people are able to leave their jobs for months to participate.

They thought it wasn’t that serious. I kept following the information of the virus since end of January and still when UK started the lockdown it took me 2 weeks to process it. My friend’s families in hospitals, people running to their home countries, people losing their jobs. It was too much. I was born in Madrid so my heart is broken.

Hopefully they'll give updates on their reactions to the world at home once they're safe. In a way, they should've realized or been aware that things must be really bad in the world for the production to shut down.

Even if it seems like an overreaction to us, I do feel for them. They've been cut off from everyone and everything, only learned of what was going on in the last week, and now they're being unexpectedly returned to a completely changed world. They all must realize how bad things are if this is happening, and they're probably as scared as they are disappointed.
Indeed, and they're probably imagining the situation to be even worse than it is.
They wanted to be on the game, went through the audition process, were sequestered then throw into a game that is a roller coaster of emotions under the best circumstances, then have it yanked away is something else. I mean yeah if they knew the full extent we do they might be less upset, but even with BB telling them it would be hard to truly process it. Once they get out and truly get what is going on it will seem small to most I am sure that they lost out, at least for now. But can't fault them for reacting that way, when you are in BB that long all you know is BB.
The issue would be the crew, everyone behind production which would have to be ignoring isolation to film a show. Their roles aren't classified as essential so how would they continue to film? And even take care of the cast.

Well, it would be unethical to keep them from their families as things get worse, the production crew could possibly be a vector of infection into the house itself, and travel is getting more and more restrictive, which could make it difficult to get them back home the farther along they went.

And then all of the house lights up, and after that they give background about covid-19 and that they had to end the season early, so they came to the conclusion that they should all have a 2nd chance.

This season was a disaster 1 quit, 1 eviction, 2 ejection and covid ended it early.
They will understand once they leave why they had to. I’m honestly so shocked at how long they kept it going considering there is crew.. of it we’re just them.. obviously they have been isolated but too much crew and behind the scenes.. of one of the cast member caught it then they would l get it and that would be a horrible outcome and honestly probably lead to a legal battle...
That being said, their dreams are literally crushed and I know it will have a disruption in the gameplay but they should at lease let them finish the show after this is over even if it’s like an online only version like BBOTT... just let them have a winner... or let them split the money.

I’m still shocked at what is happening in the world. I cannot imagine how these folks feel. They have only been updated by producers, away from their loved ones. As they leave the house they will see people wearing masks, and empty shelves. They will probably watch hours of RUclips videos on the subject before they learn to just turn it off.

i’m sure some might come back. Maybe not all 12 that were left, but I could see a coach’s season with 4 or 5 coming back. Maybe do a fan vs favorites w/ 4 coming back.
I don't believe they'd let them come back after the virus is cleared up. The houseguests would've seen home footage and such about each other before then, and the group wouldn't be able to handle each other again. They'll know what each person said privately and all.
It's unfair, but a fresh set of housemates would be better if life returns to normal.

I think the reason why they're reacting like this is that they're told the world is on lockdown because of a global lethal pandemic. While in reality, we're sitting comfortable in our homes, able to go to the stores when needed, they're probably thinking it's the zombie-apocalypse, stores are empty and whole towns are deserted. Yes, this thing is serious, but all in all, it's something we can "tough out" (the situation, not the disease).
TBH, they should continue this one afterwards, whilst also preparing for the new cast for next season

It'd be hard to bring them all back together, given they've broke their show quarantine and have had the chance to see the aired episodes and footage... they all know who their friends were, and who was trying to backstab them and how.

they have no idea what's going on in the world besides what they're told and even then they wont really understand the reality of the current situation until they get out - and they have family and loved ones on the outside as well. like y'all really forget these are people and not characters
The reason they reacted so outrageously is bc theyre playing characters (personas). They have this big personas bc theyre on reality TV... they wouldnt have made in onto the show if they didnt have this big reaction to everything
I think they’re reacting this way because they think the world is ending. They haven’t been reading the news every day. They just know that there’s a pandemic that’s bad enough to shut down the country and that they’re about to be sent out into it. They look like they’re overreacting. But they don’t really have a reference point for what an appropriate reaction would be.

The world isnt ending. People are just required to isolate & businesses have to be shut down to ensure safety. They didnt have anything to worry about because their life was that show but its the crew and producers who were at risk

I think Big Brother Canada should do a season, even if it’s not as long as a normal season of BBC, with that entire cast back, even Jamar + the other guy that got kicked out, and let them redo that season. There needs to be a winner for season 8 because a few of them really have great potential to win it all.
Thing is even for a short season the whole cast would have to agree to play at the same time. Likely some didn't want to come back and others were not at a place where they could take all that time off and/or quit their job yet again.
