Aberdeen 5 (McDougall 11, 14, 72, Black 58, McQueen 81 pen)
Rangers 1 (Prytz 75)
ABERDEEN: Leighton, McKimmie, McQueen, Stark (Mitchell), Cooper, Miller, Black, Simpson, McDougall, Bell (Hewitt), Weir
RANGERS: Walker, McKinnon, Dawson, McPherson, Paterson, Pryrz, McCoist, D.Ferguson (Redford), Johnstone, McDonald (McMinn), Cooper
The result didn't do Rangers boss Jock Wallace's hernia any good at all. Derek Johnstone returned to the Ibrox fold and stood back as McDougall bagged his first hat-trick for the Dons. The game's only black spot was the sending-off of Stewart McKimmie and Ally Dawson for a first half fracas.Tommy McQueen rounded things off with the straight-legged jump.
One of the most natural finishers the club has had even in the great days. Often not recognised for his contribution. RIP Frank.
Frank macdougall was an outstanding goalscorer , a real striker and just a great player to watch !
RIP Frank. He was awsome. ❤
Great Aberdeen team in this era. Peter Weir must be the most naturally 2 footed player I've seen. No preference whatsoever.
Frank McDougall, that ace of chance takers inside the box. Some player.
Willie Miller, Eric Black, John Hewitt....great players!
It was the following season and he actually scored 4 against us up at Pittodrie. We played them off the park in the first half and wasted a shitload of chances and were 1-0 down until Provan equalised with an amazing free kick just before half-time. McDougall was a superb striker. Also remember him scoring a thunderous 25 yard volley against us at Parkhead.
Rangers have always had some dirty players through the years
Frank McDougall we'll never forget you.
Even Dons lost Strachan in mid of 1984, they won the League next season...
Who on earth thought that Paterson & McPherson were a top central defensive pairing?! Craig Paterson what a moaning git! Frank McDougall LEGEND!
I wish we could thump the Old Firm with results like this nowadays!!
Shame Frank McDougall and Eric Black both retired early (still in their 20s) due to back injuries.
Fantastic!
Easy easy easy!
This is when rangers started thinking ok let's hire some catholics
Don't ever delete this :-))
RIP Frank McDougall
What a team
Short shorts.... whoa those strips were fierce
Commentator sounded LESS than happy i suspect he was a HUN remember that game years ago, Rangers even worse than that now good to know there's more thrashings on the way this season LOL.
Always thought macdougall put 4 past these cahnts
was alex ferguson in charge at this time?
Yes, he was; ay the same time, Fergie was the assistant of Jock Stein at Scottish side. He stayed with Dons till world cup in México 1986, when he replaced Stein as main manager after Stein death...,after that, he moved to Man Utd
come on yeee reds!!!
Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy! Easy!
