get back is one of the first songs I've learned and always played it way more complicated - funny to see Sir Paul hardly put anything into that smooth groove
I find nothing particularly engaging about this song. Don't like the vocals. Lennon's guitar solo is merely OK. But that TA DA DUM, TA DA DUM totally propels the song! Have been watching a few clips from the making of Get Back, and George was humming it. I wager that he added the touch, though it might have been John's idea. The song, after all, was assembled while George had temporarily left the band. A good example of how good the Beatles were as a UNIT.
Zappa had a song "Muffin Man" where he sings "He thought he was man, but he only was a muffin".... Zappa is quite literally a joke compared to The Beatles, or Captain Beefheart, for that matter.
Preston was a total genius. Apart from his solo and his licks, he was also underscoring rhythmically the verses, supporting the bass and guitars. Simple but most effective.

That bass…it’s like he’s hardly trying and yet it’s totally a master class in bass playing.

John's lead guitar is funky and cool. He had genuine skills on the instrument.
