It has double meaning: MaPa - MAma + PApa but "mapa" also means map (guide) which is what our parents are to us on our life's journey. "With our MaPa, we'll never get lost" ---Pablo
Because the traditional family was the mother is the light the father is the pillar of the home Mother show us the real world the father is the 1 to make as strong to face every problems comes They are our map to guide us for life
3 things for MAPA Wordplay 1. Ma, Pa - Mama & Papa 2. Ma for Mata (Eyes - your mother) "You mom is your eyes every time the world is changing" - Our mom is our first teacher. She shapes our character and prepare us for the world. Pa for Paa (Feet - your dad) " You are my feet every time I crawl" - Our dad as the disciplinarian, our rock. You know our fist Superhero. 3. Mapa - map - Your parents are your life's compass. Your true North. They are keeping you grounded as high as they are letting you fly. As long as you are holding on to that "MAPA" you will never be astray. Meaning holding on to their teachings will prepare you for the life (you are meant to lead) so that when it's your turn, you are ready to do the same to your own children. The circle of life Lataratara...- my guess it's a lullaby. it can be in any form and it's the oldest form of bond between mother and child. A mother calms her child every time she hums her lullabies...
MaPa= Mama + Papa= Map (Mapa in Filipino) Parents are the guide in our life. They are the map in our life as guide to find the right path on where we should be where ever we go and when and how we should be grown up.
Based on Pablo's like tweet, "lataratara" is from a Samoan mythology. Rata, to save his people, sent out his waka(boat) to carry his people to a safer place. Just like how every parents would want for their children to get out in the world but still guides them.
Filipino hymn. Lullabye. Some parents stayed with their lovedones while working. Making a living. Some don't. Overseas. Mostly Filipinos all over the world. Hardworking.
MaPa short for Mama And Papa,Mapa a map represents your journey with a compass, a journey towards life with the guidance of a Mother and A Father. La Tara tara Come on Lets Go
5:39 yes, mapa means map 🗺 But the title of this song is *MaPa* for Mama (Mom) and Papa (Dad). Just like their single *”Ikako”* two combined words for “Ikaw at Ako” means you and me. Latarata has no meaning. It’s just a lullaby.
It's a word play. mapa = map Ma,Pa = Mom, Dad A map is a guide just like how our parents (Ma,Pa) are our eternal guide in life. And yes this song is an ode.
MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) | Mapa = Map (English) Our Map is our MaPa in this Life journey. | Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece that will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advise they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). In the Filipino culture, we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parent to stay still and its time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Cath and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here.
MAPA is a Tagalog term for MAP, and the word MaPa is a short term for Mama (Ma) and Papa (Pa). Therefore, MaPa, our parents, is like a MAP (map), they give us direction and they serve as our guide wherever we go. And as Pablo said, we will not be lost, because we have MaPa (parents as our map). Wherever we go, we can still go back to where we came from.
In this song MAPA means Mama and Papa as well as a Map (Mapa) because our parents are our guiding map to this journey of life. The child that represent both the boat and the airplane signifies its journey in life that as he/her discovering the real world he/she is being guided by the teachings of their parents and at the end of the day he/she will ultimately go back (represented by the going back of the clock's hand and the return of the airplane into a boat till it reached it's destiny) to their parents by giving them back their debt of honor and gratitude.
you totally hit the nail on the head! mapa means map, but it's also a portmanteau of Ma and Pa, mom and dad. mapa also references the mata (eyes) and paa (feet) mentioned in the stanzas. enjoyed this reaction. thank you!
Imagine Josh and Ken singing their parts live, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad. He had to fight for his life on his own. While Ken's grandma who stood as his parent, just recently passed away.
"MaPa means Map but it's also a short term for Mama and Papa. The song is for giving thanks to parents. They guided us like a map so we will never get lost." - Pablo
Lataratara is a lullaby sung by mothers to calm or put their babies to sleep. Technically it's two words Lata and Rata meaning signing off according to the urban dictionary.

If im not mistaken, LATARATARA is some kind of lullabye in keeping with the theme of the song...MAPA is a play on words that means mama and papa who anchors us to be always grounded and keeps us always true to our core- and allows us to go back to that CORE whenever we feel lost due to the influences of this ever-changing world
The paper boat is you.. wherever you will go, even if one of your dreams is reaching the sun or the moon. You will still go back to where you came from..
Like all the moms/dads around the globe, Filipino moms/dads sing lullabies to their babies. But sometimes, moms that are not familiar with the song lyrics substitute it with “lataratara” to fill the tunes. It shows the universality of music as the language of love, and Pablo seemed to have written this as an ode to the purest form of love that our Ma-Pa’s or whoever stood to do their part has given us. Come to think of it, we have been hearing “lataratara” for the longest time on only now someone thought of making a song about it. Pure genius!
More or less latararatsara..is like a hymm or lullabye sounding words when our mothers put young babies to sleep..the soothing words that our mother/fathers tell us whenever we worry or we hurts ourself a little...but in the end of the song..it is us the children saying *latsarasara..tsarasara to them in their retirement/old age..telling them not to worry because we will surely look aftet them..
thanks for reacting! this song's a love letter to parents/those who are acting parents for some according to Pablo. thats why it started with 'Mom, how are you?' the latara.. thing kind of a hymn- i feels like its a lullaby to our parents, we sing it to them instead of us, like giving back. reason i think it doesnt have a video and just graphics is because they want the lyrics for you to create your own video memory of your parents/loved ones.. it's a tribute for them. hope i make sense ☺️
it was really clever of them to let justin start the song as he has that innocent and pure voice which totally sets the mood of the song. also pablo with that “Ma, Pa!” scream at the end giving me MJ vibes.
Shaqii: so its just wherever i go, i know where i came from because i got the Map. Yes you got your Map. Your MAPA (Ma, Pa) Mom and Dad. They guide you so you wont get lost in your journey. thanks for reacting!
So my intake on this. Mapa does mean map. Ma'pa can also be the abbreviation of mama and papa. So when they sing wherever they may go they won't get lost as they have a mapa with them. Our parents directs us in life therefore theyre singing they'll never get lost for they have a mapa. And that their parents have gone above and beyond to provide for them and now they would like to repay their parents and take over the struggles their parents have gone through to provide for them. Generally speaking when we wish to go somewhere and don't know where to go we have the mapa to direct us.

oh yeah i remember it now...thanks for it
Lataratara is some kind of hymn you sing to a child. Like “Lalalala” but I know “Lata” is “Can (Canned Food)” and “Tara” means “Let’s Go”
Based on Pablo's like tweet, "lataratara" is from a Samoan mythology.
Rata, to save his people, sent out his waka(boat) to carry his people to a safer place. Just like how every parents would want for their children to get out in the world but still guides them.

Theres 2 meaning of MAPA in Filipino.
Ma- Short of Mama(Mom)
Pa- Short of Papa(Dad)
Mapa- is tagalog of MAP
Like all the moms/dads around the globe, Filipino moms/dads sing lullabies to their babies. Yeah double meaning... mapa is map in english... but then ma and pa can also be a shortened mama and papa... they are also like our map they always guide us wherever we go we always go back to our parents
It is actually "La tierra" means 'Earth'.. My earth.. Their map is their MaPa(Mama and Papa) in this earth called life.
Love this. They put a lot of thought into these lyrics✨
That's why Praise God for having Pablo as the leader of SB19.
