  • Manuel believes that Architecture is rarely driven by architecture matters but power, religion and superstition. He shares his thoughts on what shapes mordern architecture through his work. Born in Switzerland, Manuel Der Hagopian graduated from the Institut D'Architecture De L'Université De Genève (IAUG), Switzerland. He is one of group8asia principals with offices in Singapore, Hanoi and Geneva and the partner-in-charge of the operation in Singapore. Prior to launching group8asia in 2006, he was one of the eight founder-partners of group8 in Geneva and was the principal-in-charge of design for numerous residential projects in Switzerland. As a co-founder of group8asia, Manuel provides full scope of architectural services from design to project management. Under his leadership there are many notable projects: Punggol Waterway Terraces (Singapore), The Alps Residences (Singapore), Tampines GreenRidges (Singapore) and FPT Headquarters (Vietnam). Through group8asia, he is exploring his personal interest in fast growing populations and its impact on residential housing in South East Asia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
