The White and red exterior are nice driver quality and show well for a 60 year old car. The mileage on the odometer is 48,774 and believed to be actual. The red vinyl interior looks great and shows little to no wear. That Mercury is a beauty! You don't see very many 1960 Mercurys today. I took a good look at this and I saw it has more in common with the 1959 Mercury than a '57 or a '58, with its roofline and the way its windshield extends to either side and almost to the top so much you could almost see the top of the driver's head from the outside. All the big Mercurys for 1960 - Monterey, Montclair, Park Lane - rode a 126-inch wheelbase (Park Lane had a 128-inch wheelbase in '59). It was the last year that Mercury had its own body; in '61, it shared bodies with the Fords, as well as engines. And does anyone remember that old Disney movie, "The Absent-Minded Professor," and that weird chase between the flying Model T Ford and the '60 Mercury wagon? That was really something! (11/11/2020)

I bought a used aqua '60 Monterey with only 18k miles in '65. It was in mint condition and for $700 was a deal. The interior was huge, could triple date with (2) couples in the back seat. Great road car, silky smooth on the highway.

I wonder what Ford engineers were thinking when they were designing this car? That's a beauty.

Mercury devotees weren't happy with the 1957-59 models--too ornate and complicated. This 1960 model was a cleaned up version of the '57-'59 series and sales improved over the prior model year. Unfortunately this was the last "unique" big Merc, as Ford put out gobbled up Fords with Mercury badges for the rest of the 60s.

I can really sympathize w/ this vehicle; a nice classic, but not over the top.

Did I dream it or was there a time when the windshield wipers on the Monterey were opposing (both swung from the outside toward the middle)?
