I still can’t understand why Chicago doesn’t try and use the tomahawk shoulder patch as a main crest for a one off this would’ve been a good opportunity
The problem, for me, with the Sabres RR 2.0 is that they reversed the black one instead of simply applying the new colours to the white one. The yoke really cuts back the white in the ‘99 jersey, so with it missing in the new one there is way too much white. It is still nice, but I am more excited about the black alt.
Hey there Shannon! I'm a Carolina Hurricanes fan and thought I would tell you more on our away jersey then leading to what the Reverse Retro is based on. Our away jersey we brought in in 2019 was one that has a ton of meaning in it. First, the warning flag pattern. It is a combo of the then home jersey faded pattern and the size of the original jerseys from when they started. Then the shoulder patches are the new alternate logo on each shoulder as not only a nod to the original jerseys but also the subtle outline of North Carolina there for them to take the state of North Carolina with them on the road. Which then leads to the wordmark itself. If you travel to anywhere near where the Hurricanes are almost all the people refer to them as the 'Canes and not the Hurricanes. With both the alternate shoulder patches and the wordmark the 'Canes take with them a piece of home and their fans with them. And now for the Reverse Retro 2.0. I do admit this is not what I hoped for. And yes it isn't really retro in most manners. I hoped for a white version of our original alternate. However, with them not wanting to do another Whalers jersey and with them already having one old 'Canes jersey with the 25th anniversary jersey, I can understand not wanting to throw it all to one era. So they can kill several birds. First, not a Whalers, second, it is on its own and not from the same era as the vintage jersey. Also, It is the first time the 'Canes have had black warning flags on the outside of the jersey since their original alternate. And also they can see if they can see from this if it would be a good idea to make this their home jersey in the future. Overall I love it and think it is great. Thank you for the great videos! I Really enjoy them! I too collect jerseys and hats and enjoy the great hockey community growing here on RUclips! Thank you for helping making it fun!
There's 2 ideas I would like to see down the road somewhere: 1) edmonton from the 2007 era, but an all copper jersey with blue, red, and white accents. 2) I don't want the red wings to add black. I want silver ( actual silver, not gray). Could do an all silver jersey with the 2017 centennial design, with red and white accents.
Would love to see them revive more defunct team designs or non-NHL designs in newer markets: Barons, Pirates, Quakers, Amerks, Maroons, Eagles, Bulldogs, Wanderers, Metropolitans, Totems, Original Senators, Las Vegas Thunder, the entire RHI, all of it. I'd also love some more preseason one-offs and prototypes revived like the Burger Kings, the Blues Jazz, and the Nordiques Husky.
I agree. I hope next time around Pittsburgh would do a throwback to the Pittsburgh Pirates either the WPHL (Western Pennsylvania Hockey League) team or the NHL team. Either that or any of the other WPHL teams since it shows the history of hockey in Pittsburgh. The WPHL started in 1896 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lasted until it went defunct in 1909. It was the first hockey league to hire and trade players.
I'm hoping the Kraken are intentionally saving the Metropolitans' Christmas sweater for a Winter Classic against the Montreal Canadiens. I was probably one of the odd Seattle fans hoping it *wasn't* going to be a Metropolitans throwback, so I'm really glad they went with the Ironmen instead. Means the Christmas sweater can be saved for an even bigger occasion.
I've always loved Johnny Canuck, I was already considering getting an Abbotsford Jersey, but I love the reverse retro so I'm probably gonna spend a bit more and get that one!
Already pre ordered the Blues one. I like that they thought outside the box a bit. It was my biggest complaint about the red ones. Super lazy. The only version of this style we’ve been able to get were some off brand ones in white or blue at Enterprise in 17/18. Super funky sizing that is very unflattering, so I rarely wear mine anymore. Glad to have a replacement!
@@fantasticvoyage262 It was more that they had already recently brought that style back and did the least imaginative reverse. If they had to use that exact style, it looks better in black (they sold that as a fashion jersey in 90s). But I would have liked more inventiveness. Swap the shoulder patch with the bluenote, maybe have a few bluenotes coming out of the trumpet (I really like the trumpet logo). Use the arch logo. Blend the clown design with the current jersey. Even using Ornest logo would have been more interesting, and I really don't like that one. I would have even taken the ugly ones that Keenan banned.
@woodsie22 Black doesn't work. Or it's not a Reverse Retro. I don't care if the same jersey in blue was dusted off the year before. The Coyotes, Capitals, Rangers, and Wild are doing the same thing this year in a different color. So they all must be lazy too then, right? Yet, they keep getting universally praised. None of those arch logos ever looked good. Keenan was already fired before the trumpet jersey was to be worn. There is a detailed video here that shares how it couldn't have been his decision.
I was confused why the Canadiens were light blue until someone mentioned they were a throwback to Les Expos. I wish the Leafs would give us the 80s era jersey with the current logo. For buying, budget permitting; Isles, Sharks, Oil, Devils, Sabres, Kings and Jets
My biggest complaint about the Rangers jersey is that the emblem on the front is too small. I don''t care too much about the word mark jerseys. I've never been a big fan of them because I like the team emblems on the front much more.
I really hope that when detroit does their 100 year celebration in a couple years they do something with the "Gothic D" and not the detroit barberpole for a 3rd time. I could do a full year if a Hine and away version of their first winter classic.

I have no problem with the fisherman for the Isles but I don't like this new application. The lines don't match up and I'm not sold on the colors chosen. The Isles haven't designed a decent jersey in about three decades.
