Congratulations! New bike days are the best.
You’ll know for next time how to set the drivetrain up - all good things to learn, plus will be valuable knowledge if any mech dramas out on the road.
Thanks! It’s definitely good to learn more about how things work & putting everything together makes me more confident that I can work on things in the wild. The electronic shifting is super easy to set up & trim, so that helped a lot.
Eric, when you spun the front wheel it looked like there was a bulge/crease in the front tyre where it might not have been fitted quite right. Worth a quick look. Congrats on new bike day! No finer feeling 👌🏻
Thank you, Paul! Front wheel is all good - I think what you saw might have been a result of the tire not being aired up yet & it was zip tied to the frame for transit. (I did just double check, though). Good eye!
How's the braking on the sram apex? Can you lock the tyres from the hoods?
I haven’t really put the breaking through it’s paces, yet. It feels pretty good, haven’t noticed anything negative yet, which is a positive
Great video Eric and congrats again on the new gravel bike! It's a beauty! How are you finding the move to electronic shifting, is it worth it over mechanical?
So far I really like it, though it’s takes some getting used to. It’s a 1x in the front, so you shift up on the right hood & down on the left. As soon as I got used to that I rode my Tarmac and shifted down the chain ring just trying to go down one gear 😅.
It's not a real build if you don't use the kitchen meat scissors
