Awesome, I’m just about to get a pair of rabbits, I’m excited to follow along. Also, always add video suggestions at the end of the video, that will help you keep viewers on the channel .
Really cool! Only just found your channel, looking forward to seeing where things go. You’re a naturally talented host, and rabbits are definitely underrated in homesteading. Learning a lot 🤌
Aquaponics... nice! I've always had an interest in aquatics of all kinds, hydroponics and aquaponics are definitely fun hobbys. I'll look forward to future videos, even though it was the rabbits that brought me here.
Subscribed after watching two of your videos. 😁 I always wanted to raise rabbits, but need a little bit help starting up, so I’ll follow you for a minute. Congrats on that 5 acres! That should be enough to start your serious rabbit production and some other stuff you want to raise as well. I’m in northern Illinois, also on 5 acres, but mainly growing veggies and now expanding with black currants, raspberries, blackberries, and some fruit trees. I need a lot of fertilizer, so growing rabbits would be the win win situation. Thanks for the inspiration ! Stay strong , and never give up on your dreams ! Mar
Congrats...such an opportunity...l've just ''discovered'' you and getting in on the ground floor of the new place will be fun. l'm 86y-o, grew up next door to a a rabbitry in Redondo Beach CA....best regards from the Ozarks [CA had 6 million when l was born, now has 40 million...too crowded]
@@westmeadowrabbits we are moving in two weeks from our residential neighborhood to a 1 1/2 acre property & beginning the dream of cultivating a small homestead. Hoping to start with rabbits, quail and a small flock of chickens for my daughter who has been asking for chickens for years. Definitely excited to have found your channel and to get to follow along your journey as well- loads of really helpful insight and information. Definitely want to know more about the pollenator gardens too if you’re going to be carrying that over Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
Congratulations on your new property that is awesome. Now you can go off grid with solar power, rain water and a garden. From experience no better life than living off grid
Lot's to think about for sure! fist thing I need to do (livestock wise) is get some goats and reclaim these fields. They're much more woody than they look.
Man, that’s awesome! Couldn’t be happier for you! And I can’t wait until you redo the video “Why you should raise meat rabbits instead of chickens” and name it “Why I added chickens to our livestock collection!”😂😂😂
Oh don't you worry, I've had chickens before (for eggs) and I'll have them again! but you won't see me with meat birds. Unless I get into fulltime farming for the market...
@@westmeadowrabbits Well, whatever you do, I wish you the best! We moved out of the suburbs a little over two years ago, got 2 1/2 acres, and dove right in. Raised two hogs in 2022, we have layers, and last year, I built two goat pens, and we have two dairy goats. This year, we’ll add meat goats. I have a little YT channel I started to share with friends and family. Feel free to check out my goat pen builds, if you’re looking for ideas.
Congratulations. 5 acres goes pretty fast once you start putting things in, so don’t rush. I’d start with planting some good fruit trees and willows.
For sure! Worst thing about moving is loosing all the gardens and trees I've put years of work into.

Get some outdoor mushroom cultivation going
Heck yea! I had abed of wine caps so I'm gonna bring some spores.
are you going to build a house on it as well ?
or keeping your old house .
Keeping the old house, but doing extensive renovations!
Very cool, congratulations! What is or will be your water source?
We've got a well and several streams.
Quails?
I've had them before. I'd probably get laying hens and ducks before going back to quail, but we'll see!
Do you by chance have a discord community?
Not yet, but it's in the works!
Pam here…you need a wind muffler for your mic…cheap and your audio will improve greatly!
I'd love to by one! By all means please consider donating to the channel so we can invest in better equipment!
Congrats!
