Question - do any of these pedal controller products have both the remote start functions and high idle setting along with the throttle control? The PedalBox has a remote start feature, but I don’t seen anything about a high idle setting. IO Pedal has a high idle setting, but I think it lacks the remote start function. I want both features!
We utilize Mid City Engineering for remote start functions (which high idles upon startup) and either PedalBox (which does not have high idle) or IO Pedal (which does have high idle) You’ll need two products, one that plugs in to OBD for starting and one that plugs into the accelerator pedal.
Ok, clearly there is a lot to unpack here. Personally, remote start would be useful but not required. I’d be happy if I could start the van with the button, then let it high idle while I leave the van locked in my driveway or campsite. The ability to remote start in colder locations would be useful, and so would a system that would auto-start whenever the house batteries needed charging. Sounds like I need to investigate MidCity more. Do they offer engine/performance tubes as well?
@@ppierpont We like the Mid City remote start. It works with your fob or phone and high idles upon start. Mid City does not offer tunes though. We use Agile Offroad’s performance tune which has to be performed at one of their dealers.
Nearly all van owners upgrade their tires, at least in our region. Sure, some do it purely for aesthetics where a smaller, road focused tire is quieter and provides better fuel economy. If those are your highest priorities then run a 245 size Michelin or Continental. No need to upgrade. We upgraded the tires on our shop van for three reasons (1) in Northern California we see snow from October to April and want a tire that is 4 season rated with a larger contact patch (2) we like a little more sidewall dampening that comes with the taller 275 series and (3) we find a 9’ or 10’ van looks funny with little 245 tires. Like most upgrades, do what works for you. This is what has worked for us and what we recommend after seeing 1,000 vans through our shop.
No. We’re just trying to make a distinction that some folks don’t get off-road for their weekend adventures and that they prefer access to organized campgrounds. As we move into Stages 2 and 3 over the next couple weeks, we will cover more upgrades for folks who like to push out further. We recommend everyone start with the Stage 1 upgrades. From there you can take your build in any direction that fits your needs.
Be sure to check out Stage 2, released this week and Stage 3, coming out next. Lots of our customers ease into their van experience by visiting campgrounds. Most go on to become more comfortable and confident in remote areas after some upgrades and practice.
Great video - we're on the hunt for a campervan and this video helped address many of the concerns I've had when test driving them. Keep it up.
Such a helpful video. Thank you!
Feel free to call us with any questions.
Great product information!!!

Great info in this video. I really like the color-coded bags in the rear box, who makes those?

@@sierraadventurevans4302 All of this discussion makes me more excited to get up to your shop in the spring!
Why would you need that tire if you are on asphalt for the weekend. The tire that would be horrible for open road but great for your pockets.

when you say stage 1 is just for asphalt, do you mean that it has 0 reliability?
