  • There's nothing quite like a classic roadside diner, and Steak ‘n Shake was the best of ‘em. But with the diner losing ground with each turn of the year, it looks like time has passed them by. In honor of the culture they created in 20th century America, we’re looking back on their glory days. Ready?

I have never eaten at a Steak and Shake but I've seen their commercials
on TV a lot of times back in the 80's and 90's thanks for the memories.

I was 9 before I got to go inside for chow, big excitement to have the girl bring some burgers before fireworks, 5 of us kids in the back of a 59' Chevy convertible. Mid 70's we'd get off work at a restaurant go just down the street and hang out Seinfeld style for a couple hrs. We had school the next day. Usually it was choc shakes and the best fries in the world. Anybody that whines about their fries probably whines about everything.

When I and my wife tried them we can only think of the word thin. The patties were thin. The fries were thin (thinner fries get colder faster). And the shakes were thin. Big dissapointment.

They're now overpriced. Good, but not worth what you're paying
