Great job! Just wanted to add some details for everyone to know better what's over there. 2:05 that's not high beam. that's static cornering light. Since this is a bi-xenon headlight, both low and high beam are inside the xenon projector. At 2:40 you are disconnecting wiring that controls the low/high beam shutter inside the projector. 4:25 the "projector mount" is actually a moving frame that's rotated left-right by a step motor. This headlight is using both static and dynamic cornering lights.
Hi there. This video is great, but how do you get the bezel out? I have a 2016 GTI and the bottom portion (the indicator) is not an LED strip, so the internals are slightly different, but I’m hoping it comes out the same way. I need to redo the chrome caps because I messed up the coating while replacing the lens.
Hey is it possible to remove that AFS motor without taking apart the headlight housing? My LT headlight is giving me an error after the self-testing sequence. I am looking to replace the motor instead of removing and replacing the entire unit for about $1500 at the moment.
Yes, you can see here where I took it out: ruclips.net/video/tFXbhypEus0/видео.html For the light in the video it appears to be part number: 3D0-941-295
It looks like you use a screwdriver to pry it out of the socket. My question is can I still pull the motor out with the headlight socket installed on the car?
@@jeffp4753 yes. It's just difficult as you have to twist it out of that clip. Then in reverse you have to push it in and hook it into that slot. If you unlock and pull it straight you will run the risk of breaking the plastic clips.
You should be able to, though it will be a bit of work. It's generally easier/faster to swap the whole headlight. Have you verified if your LED controller is still working? you might have a failed module rather than a failed LED.
@@CatfishD let's assume right drl is working and left isn't, swap the left control module with the right one, if left still doesn't work then it's the led broken if now left is working and right isn't, then it's the left control unit broken. Left and right control unit have the same part number.

Thanks for clarifying that. I was confused when he said that was the high beam
do you know how does this step motor controls both the left and right up down movement of the projector?

Glosses over most important part.. 10/10
Which was what exactly?
Do you think if it's possible to replace just the indicator LED strip in EU bi-xenon lamps (GTD)?

If one of my drl wen out you think I can dissemble the light maybe buy a used one and change the drl (U shape)?

How can you verify output of the module?
Hi, great video, any information how to test U LED's from the DLR Control module plug ? That would be great.

Hey, do you think it would be possible to fit the internals of this headlight into a headlight of an older car?
Yes. That is commonly referred to as Retrofitting.
Where can I get just the clear casing ?
No one sells the lens. You must buy a whole headlight
How did the lens come off?
you have to bake the headlight to soften the glue
@@gftgrill looks like you just cut the housing
@@luminanceautowerke4306 Yes, I cut the lens off in my videos. I do not put the lights back together as they are generally worthless
That’s a golf r headlight, not a GTI
