- Full showcase of the mod as of 0.2.0 update. It took me about 6 months to finish, but hey, better late than never. New update adds:

Useless Reptile is a Minecraft mod for (currently only) Fabric that aims to bring some dragons into your world that you can tame... or kill. Well, depends on your preferences

There should be a system for how much your dragon likes you (Something really simple like feeding it and giving it shelter makes it happy, but not feeding it, leaving it out in the rain, or attacking it makes it unhappy). If your dragon doesn't like you, it may not help you attack things as much and may fly slightly slower. If your dragon really likes you, it will always help you attack things and will even protect you like a wolf. Also, if your dragon doesn't like you and you happen to be flying over an ocean, it may decide to do a couple spinning nose-dives.

additional note: maybe some dragons LIKE the rain and instead are positively effected
that would be really cool! I've never seen any mod creator with tameable creatures make them unique in any sort of way. Having them be something beyond a reskinned travelling and fighting tool would be awesome when thinking abt it :)

Maybe one day. Rewriting mod to make it easy to develop for both Forge and Fabric is not that easy and quite time consuming (and time is not what I have now). Still thanks for a nice comment

Everything in this mod is just so well thought out and made. AMAZING job!
I love how there is some balance to their power, and also how the mod incentives the use of potions.
The Swamp Wyvern's model is *so* good and I love how elegant it is. It kind of reminds me of the Prehistoric Dragon from the old mockumentary "Dragons: a fantasy made real" thanks to the long legs and slender neck. The Moleclaw is a really unique idea too! I might have to play a Fabric world after all, I certainly will when Alex' Ice and Fire comes out for 1.19. This seems like a perfect companion mod that adds a less vicious reptilian surface-dweller to the dangerous I&F overworld, and a bit more draconic spectacle to the caves!
Creature mods are getting better and better

As a purist of bestiaries and mythology, your Wyvern is one of the best designs and concepts i've ever seen on Minecraft (poison breath instead of fire, i see you are a man of culture). Yours is one of my favorite mods i i've ever installed. ̶U̶s̶e̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ Amazing Reptile!

I like to think that moleclaw attacks attackers because you helped it overcome the light it is afraid of, so now it's grateful towards you.
An egg eating dragon might make for an interesting dragon, as well as the implications of how to tame one. Either a whole lot of chicken eggs or maybe a dragon egg for a guaranteed tame

Glad to hear you're planning on porting it, too; most of the mods I like are in forge, so having them together means I can combine thwm all into one awesome bundle.

this looks super cool. the moleclaw has a pretty cool concept for fearing the light and digging.

I've got to admit this is amazing. When I first saw your mod the number one thing I thought was "If this mod adds more dragons then it will be amazing" so I'm really glad you decided to add some more. and tbh I cant wait to see what other dragons you add to this however, I would like to see other ways of taming dragons in the future like maybe some you have to raise a dragon from a baby, maybe you could throw food items on the ground for it to eat, you could find a wounded dragon out in the wild and nurse it back to health, maybe bring them live animals to hunt/feed, etc. I think the possibilities are endless. all around though good job I'm very excited to see what will be added next!

Well this has CERTAINLY come a long way from being a 'meh okay alternate flight method' it was not too long ago. Very impressive! I'm gonna hand this to a RUclipsr I know, who just so happens to love dragons of all sizes and shapes, and see if I can you more foot traffic brother!
I see great future ahead for this mod. Maybe you can make so many dragons that there will be all shapes and sizes in each biome. And every dragon will have its own behavior and abilities

Honestly for as simple as this mod currently is, it looks amazing, the models and textures look great, the content isn't overcomplicated it's just fun, I like it a lot.

Oh good god, I'd love to see a Minecraft Civilization event utilising this mod.
In a future update, it would be a cool and coherent addition to add some natural behaviours to the dragons. For exemple, the swamp wyverns would spawn eggs when breaded, they would lay their eggs undewater un the swamp to gain a cmouflage, the egg could be clay like color to blend in the landscape and escape predators like for exemple slimes. They can have a compatibility with serene season mod to migrate on winter...
Anything that bring more life to these cools dragons ! It's up to your creativity

I still find it endearing that Useless Reptile is a reference to How to Train Your Dragon
if you are taking suggestions. a boss of sorts could be an actual dragon, not a drake or a wyvern. So 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 wings. And water, and land dragons could be an interesting idea aswell. Some could be untamable or have strange taming methods, like finding a nest and taking the eggs after luring the parents away, but I must say that the burrowing drake species is a fantastic idea that I wish I had come up with first, lol.

That's awesome! Since the name is a HTTYD reference you could maybe add some dragons that look like or "work" like Nightfury, Nadder, etc. It would be fun.

It’s good to see more dragon mods out there for Minecraft, since the ended dragon is nostalgic, but it’s lackluster compared to what we’ve see modded make, and also, dragons are cool

Ice and fire is one of my favorite creature mods of all time, right next to alex's mobs and rats, but sadly it isnt 1.19.4, so i havent been able to play it too much recently, other than that this mod shows promise and im looking forward to it

For your next bit of dragons you should add a small tamable dragon that can be picked up and equipped on your back as a later game elytra that can only be a optained using one as it could spawn on islands above the build limit
This mod fits in the ice and fire dragon mod design
It would be really cool to see a dragon similar to the Red Dragon that was going to be added to Minecraft long ago
I love how unique you made the two first dragons and how well they work in their respective biomes.
If you plan on putting typical firebreathing dragons in it, wouldnt it then make sense, if the acid spitter did more damage to armour, to get a unique use for it?

Dragons already have turning animations, unless you meant something else
@@Nord_Act Oh I think It's a Minecraft thing that causes creatures to immediately change direction so I don't think it can be changed my bad btw I love how It's looking
@@Nord_Act Like in 0:13 you can see the dragon on the right turning around but yeah I think that's hardcoded into Minecraft so it can't be changed
These are my ideas or suggestions. You can decide whether you can implement it or not.
It would be nice if there's an egg you can steal and hatch it. Also these lizards would be aggressive defending their eggs or nest if there's one guarding it.
For the wyvern hide, maybe armor enchantment like acid resistance or acid resistance potion. Oh, a lizard that camouflage or invisibility. Gives hide that you can use to make invisibility armour. Makes you invisible after standing still (5) buff last 2 mins. The Minecraft invisibility is bad. Name tag is still seen as well as particles. Also an improved invisibility potion I guess

I love this mod, its so cool. If i were to recommend more dragons, I may recommend a smaller, shoulder mount forest dragon, a large sea dragon, an open plains runner dragon of some type, a diving dragon, a nether forest dragon, a nether lava dragon, and a dragon in the end proper, if those were the recommendations you were looking for. If not, sorry to bother you, this mod is awesome!

There should be eating mechanic like for foxes tbh it would be fun. And the Moleclaw should fear Blazes and Glow Squids, or hate them and hunt bats. There should be a cool reptile for every biome too I'd love it. Imagine a dragon with fur that has snow leopard pattern living in the snowy plains. OoO
