    So…you can use fuel from the gasifier to run the chipper, to make wood chips, to burn in the gasifier, to run an engine, to make electricity, so you can play the electric guitar. Better crank up the volume. I couldn’t hardly hear it! That’s awesome!

      Jimi Hendrix used to sacrifice his guitar live on stage by spraying lighter fluid on it then setting it on fire....this guy sacrifices his electric guitar by putting it thru the wood chipper and burning it in his gasifier!

    Great stuff - looks very compact the unit on the Deer...was wondering where the burner basket is located- is it in the middle or down near the bottom? I see the gas outlet is right below the middle section. Cheers

      Wood Gas, because there is so much nitrogen in it, has less power available to the engine, but still can do much work. see Wayne Keith's videos ruclips.net/channel/UCPrGPvL1Y_5cB9UNgoz78Ng

      I have quite a few videos of our machines under load. In general you can expect to get about 50% of the engines gasoline rated power output. I currently run our full manufacturing on a new much more advanced version of what you see here.

    • @minnesotamarine9861
      @minnesotamarine9861 3 года назад

      @@Thrive-Off-Grid What if you had a larger gasifier on it? Is it the fuel source that lacks or the volume of fuel? And can the gas be "enriched" for more burn power?

    • @Thrive-Off-Grid
      @Thrive-Off-Grid 3 года назад +3

      @@minnesotamarine9861 it has nothing to do with the volume. The engine can only suck in so much volume and the gasifier has plenty of gas to offer.
      it has to do with gas energy density, The energy of the gas composition is fairly linear form one gasifier to another. Gas volumes can fluctuate but generally not more than 5%
      If you go to a bigger gasifier then it will no longer be sized correctly for the engine and you will under drive it and it will make tar then you will be rebuilding the engine.
      I no longer build direct wood gasifiers. Charcoal is much easier fuel and once you crunch all the numbers its actually more efficient fuel to produce. When you chip fuel the chipper will require energy, it will generator a waste yield and then the gasifier will use 30% of your net just for its process. This will come to more than 50% of your raw feed stock. When you produce charcoal you can easily achieve a 50% yield. water drip will nearly cancel out the energy used in processed. Tar is now eliminated and they run far more stable and are way less complex. Its just better tech all around. The gas is so clean you can run turbo. wood gas will destroy a turbo in a heart beat.
      If you want more power you simply get a larger engine that will meet your application. its as simple as that. You really should be using a battery bank with this anyways. Then this is not problem as you get the big power from your storage and inverter system. The gasifier engine system then only needs to average it.
      Additionally you can build a gasometer and use this stored gas to run LP / NG appliances. Then you get rid of the energy conversions running an engine then converting to storage then converting back to AC. With those appliances we can automate a gasifier to self fill a low pressure gasometer to feed these appliances more directly. For instance an on demand hot water heater, LP / ammonia based RV refrigerators, cloths dryers, LP / NG Stoves etc. Now dont need all that battery storage, less solar, engine running etc.

    Where is that clean blue gas you need to run an engine with?

    • @Thrive-Off-Grid
      @Thrive-Off-Grid 2 года назад

      I didnt have good dry fuel. However a gasifier does not produce a Blue flare. Here in this video indeed that was dirty gas but that JD dont care that thing drank tar and loved it. LOL But back to the flare. The H2 produced from any gasifier is not pure, generally H2 will burn orange. In a lab with a pure grade of H2 you will see a pale blue but even with electrolysis Ive never seen it burn blue it always burned an orange color. A good indicator that you are making lots of H2 is the flare may look fluffy, this is water / steam reforming as it oxidizes. CO from a gasifier will burn a brilliant blue color and its beautiful to see. But this is weak gas. CH4 will give the flare a violet / pink color. So what you really want to see is a blue base at the flare with violet / pink color with some faint orange. (not like in the video) Even our charcoal systems with water cracking dont produce a blue flare and that gas is clean. These new machines dont even leave any residue at the carb.
