    Nice job! I think making your own tools is great fun and an even better skill builder. Home-made scrapers are definitely the way to go!

    Well done Mike. That will be a very useful tool. And it was cheap as well as easy to produce. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

      We will see Ken. I watch Richard Raffans's skillfull use of conventional scrapers and it makes me want to compare and contrast them with NRSs.

      @@MikePeaceWoodturning I have been watching a lot of Richard lately. His tool skills are amazing. What he does with the scrapers leaves me shaking my head sometimes. I am a big fan of him and some guy named Peace.

    That shear scraping method will also work on the inside of the bowl, and gets a better finish than negative rake.

    I ordered a piece of HSS that is 35x10x200 about a week and a half ago on Amazon planning to do the same thing. Initially it said that it would be delivered within a week I think but a couple days later I got an email saying that the delivery date was miscalculated and the new delivery date will be between June 5-15 🙄. I guess I’m getting it hot off the press so to say straight from the source, good ole China lol.

      @@MikePeaceWoodturning I knew lol. As it is I have another bar of hss that I’d planned on making a badan with that has been sitting in my shop for the better part of two months still in the packaging lol. By the way, what is the angle that you grind your badan to?
      Thanks as always Mike, Scott

      @@scottsimpey2965 I do not use a bedan but my 8mm beading and parting tool is ground like a skew at about 40 degrees.

    Mike, I liked your video but I am in search of another video you did where you made the wooden pens and the fridge magnets that hold them. I have looked through some of your videos and can't seem to find it. So I have a very functional use for this project at work! I work with mechanics that can never find a pen when it comes time to fill out the paperwork. So I will make these and put them on there toolbox. 😊😊😂

    Really cool. How is the steel on the hss blank that you used?

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  Год назад

      No difference from any other hss tools I use. These blanks are used in industry as parting tools. They would not sell if inferior IMHO.

    Thanks for sharing this video. I’ve been wanting a big bowl scraper. Might be cheaper to build my own. How good is the quality of the HSS Amazon sells?

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  Год назад

      The HSS bars are used in industry as cutters/parting tools so they would not sell many if they were poor quality.
