I love how Jason isn't smart but he is wise and catches onto things pretty quick even if he doesn't actually know what's happening like at the start of the show with him saying he thinks they are being pranked
So brilliant how a goofy show about big ideas can hide obvious clues so easily. Janet's missing, "Not a girl," and Jason being right about literally everything in the episode, flew completely under the radar.
This is my fav episode of the series, I love how Jason figures it out because he loves Janet so much and knows her so well. It’s SO OBVIOUS when you look back that Janet was sabotaging. You even noted last episode that Tahani should stop listening to Janet’s ideas because they were all really bad, she kept telling her to fight John
Are some crimes really finite. Murder couldn't be considered finite. Everything that person would have done, and the impact it would have had on everyone around them, ripples out forever. That's not finite. If you kill an evil person, who takes bribes and passes laws that hurt 99% of the population, you might end up having an infinite benefit to the world. It could work either way, but it can't be considered finite.
@@jamesjones7526 in this sense every action would have infinite consequences. but the weight of any action is never infinite, because nothing in human life is absolute, so the original comment makes sense even
@@jamesjones7526The chain of cause and effect is infinite. Everything that happens is caused by something else. Your argument can apply to literally everything, not just murder, which nullifies the point you’re trying to make.
Another thing showing the judge isn't doing her job, is that the Good Place is completely sidelined. It is Team Cockroach running the experiment, accounting doing bookkeeping, the bad place choosing the subjects, and the medium place hosting. Plus, the bad place has open access to the experiment via the railroad, which is awful control.
It’s the first time anything like this has ever happened. It’s not like there’s precedent. And the Judge’s only job is to rule on the results and any disputes that are brought before her.
Jason really was onto something when he said "so it's decided: we trust both of them" I was a bit amused at seeing you be fooled, but your perception skills were still top notch 👌🏼 kudos to you for understanding that Glenn wasn't sure of what he saw/of what was going on. Also last episode you did say "maybe don't listen to Janet" when she was giving advice to Tahani, so I was extra excited to see your reaction to this episode 10/10 one of my favorites
I've rewatched this show countless times, and I know it like the back of my hand. This is the first time I've ever really noticed that Jason IS correct here haha one of the best running gags is Jason being right
Another clue that Janet was Bad Janet is since the switch of Bad and Good Janet, Bad Janet has been holding the thumb of the wrong hand. That was my clue since I’m a bit particular about things like that myself haha
With the discussion in this episode of the role of guards in a prison, I just have to ask, have you ever seen the movie Green Mile? If not, that's a movie I'd like to see a reaction to as it's quite relevant to that issue.
concerning the rant about whether Glenn is good or bad, I believe the comparison between Glenn and a prison guard i failed, I'd compare him more to a brainwashed soldier, someone who has been nurtured in an environment that said we're the good guys, we do everything for the better cause, and we're the only ones who can say 'the end justifies the means', and well each mind will take a different amount of time to question it, maybe early in their teens, or older, but philosophy is a human trait because we question, so at some point, they will question something. And then we get to the important bit, which is, what do you do now? Do you ignore it? Why? Selfishness? indifference? Ignorance? Fear? Or do you do something? What do you do? What can you do? Do you talk? Do you leave? So i think the declaring sentence for whether they are good or bad is declared in that decision, in that moment of questioning. Glenn should be judged by the amount of penises he unflattened after that moment where he questions, and after he makes the decision of doing or not doing something, those should be the only penises that count Maybe he's been questioning this since the experiment first started, which would mean he still spent 300+ years torturing humans, or maybe he had that doubt and got on the train thingy, which would mean he instantly did the good thing as soon as he questioned it.........imsohighomg
Your thoughts on Glenn remind me of the discussion by the soldiers in Henry V on the eve of battle. Whether their obedience to the King wipe out any personal guilt of whether or not the conflict is good and just. After a few examples by Henry he leaves the idea that each subject's duty is to the king but each man's soul is his own.
"Glen isn't a bad person because he is carrying out the law where he is." 😳😳😳 UHHHMMMM UUUUHHHHHHHMMMMMMMM That's a VERY DANGEROUS opinion to have?!?? WWII!?!? Slavecatchers?!?!! Am i the only one catching that comparison?!?!
It was just a thought exercise. My personal opinion is that the entire system is crooked (broadly speaking) and it makes us all worse. I've talked a lot previously about thinking for oneself and questioning authority, which I think applies to both Glenn's situation and the ones you're talking about.. Context matters, I'm never saying 'this is right' or 'this is how people should think', necessarily.
@@TylerAlexander You also have to remember that Glen and the other demons aren't humans, they literally don't have human empathy and human morality (towards other humans) means nothing to them. They were created to enforce the laws of the universe as established and until now had no reason to even consider that what they are doing could be the wrong thing.
Keep watching, because Tyler then goes on to explain the thought behind what he said. lol I'm imagining you pausing as soon as he says this and typing that, without thinking that he was going to add any context or discussion

I can't believe you missed "not a girl". 😏
Great reactions. Reliving nice memories of when I watched it for the first time.

Infinite punishment for finite crimes is never morally acceptable

Glenn is such a fun character!!
A great episode of TGP and one of my favorite titles. "Not a girl", love it when Jason is smarter than everyone including the audience. Fun reaction.
