The fact that they don’t make a good seal and leak bothers me way more than it probably should. Like you had one job man!!!

My testing unit have a good seal, sometimes you have to tight it with more force and then the screen doesnt rattle and dripper doesnt leak.

This didn't convince me to give up my Hario Switch.

The switch is my favorite. You can do almost anything with it.

Watched Daddy Got Coffee's review and he also testet it without any screen and found the flow was also similar to allot of the screens. Then he discovered that if the filter was not seated well with full contact to the screen they all basically performed as a bottomless version and when he started to take great care of seating the filters he got better separation between the screens. Not sure of that relates to your testing.

I bought a set and I found that twisting it a little more than hand tight the seal did completely touch and there as no shaking or leaks

great info on that brewer...next up SWORKS with all screens! i got one and it was overload ( need PhD to figure out what screen, grind, coffee , pour method, recipe) not to mention adjustable flow rate. fun to experiment with all these variables but i had to accept a "roll the dice" outcome in the cup to not loose my mind

I have tested my Varia Flo and also went for the so called fast bottom as my favourite. You need to make sure to push the filter all the way in so it touches the screen otherwise the time of extraction can vary. Also, if you tighten up the top when swapping screens can prevent them from rattling. Overall I was slightly disappointed with this brewer and already sold it. I do prefer Orea V4. Btw which is your favourite Orea bottom? Thx for great video!

Thank you for the video. Liked the lighting and grading. Now the brewer: do like double walled stainless. Would be really irritated by the rattling, although other posts imply this can be fixed ? Do like your "bombshell" that additional inserts may not be needed - honest and open and thank you, as always, for your approach. I am still happy with my espresso machine, Aeropress and french press for now.

I liked that it is stainless as I want to get away from any type of plastic. Maybe I just don't know where to look but I'm not familiar with another flat bottom stainless brewer like this. I also like some choices of bottoms though it appears perhaps there might not be alot of differences between many of them. The leaking on the sides did bother me but I see a comment below saying that if tightened more it does not leak. And the other video that found if the filter is firmly seated in the bottom of the brewer, there is a more pronounced difference in some of the filters. So..I am tempted to try one. Thanks for the video !

Hey Spro, have you considered making a video on Espresso anatomy about a flat flow profile? Most machines can do a constant pressure but not a constant flow, but maybe with a scale that has a flow rate meter and a flair it can be done for cheap. I'm just thinking out loud but a comparison between constant pressure and constant flow would be interesting

I’ve had a more positive experience with the Orea V4. I wouldn’t say the differences are massive, but it’s a good quality brewer and it’s nice to change things up a bit when I’ve been using the same bottom for a while.

This makes me think of Wafo baskets. There's probably applications for each one to get minimal returns, but it seems like most people don't need the options

Orea v4 feels overall just better choice? Btw what is your pour-over setup? You have scale top on stand, so just measuring actually coffee and not amount of added water?

I'd like to see that they add one more screen "superfast" which would be just big hole with the lip for holding the filter on the edge - something like orea V4 or GLorea :)

I'm sure that dripping on the side doesn't really affect anything flavor or extraction wise, but man it's annoying lol I love my v3 and would love to try something similar in a dual-walled version, but I really hate that base. I would much prefer a flatter base. Very interesting product, thanks for the review!
Edit: I wrote my comment too soon! If it's trapping that much water around the edge, that seems super annoying. Doesn't seem like it would take much to put a small silicone ring around those bottoms to seal them. Plus it probably makes cleaning a little more annoying since you have to make sure to take it apart

Were all the taste tests done blind and as part of a triangulation? They’re kinda pointless if not.
