Hobby notes get their own binders so my bujo doesn’t overflow. I could put them there, and do in a pinch (get the thing written down before the thought and my understanding flit away into the void)

It feels VERY real, and by the end of our lives, with so much perspective... it does seem silly. I try to keep that in mind whenever the "shoulds" start to come through...
Unfortunately, peoples' judgements can carry consequences, so navigating our personal journey, living intentionally, being true to ourselves and creating our own reality can feel tricky and like walking a fine line..
Similar to The Four Agreements ~ Miguel Ruiz: Be true to your word, Don’t make assumptions, Always do your best, and last but not least, Don’t take anything personally. It’s a great read and a great guide on how to have healthy relationships, including the relationship with yourself.

I've been bullet journaling for about four years and something I've learned is that I can't set up individual questions that have to be answered regularly, like "Write one thing you learned today to be better tomorrow." There's no way I would have an answer to that every single day, or even every week. Any time I've tried to include any feature like this in my bullet journal, I end up forcing myself to come up with answers just to keep that feature consistent in my journal and not leave blank spaces. The result is that my answers are not meaningful and the feature ends up serving no purpose. Even a gratitude list doesn't work for me because after a few days, I've already listed everything I love about my life and there's nothing left to list so it just ends up being the same list every day and the redundancy just makes it feel like a chore. I love the idea of bullet journaling and writing daily in general, but I can't seem to figure out exactly what I should be writing and what features to include in my journal. I want my bullet journal to be a keepsake to look back on, and it certainly is that, but I also want to use it to gain more clarity on what I want and how to get it. I'm still trying to figure out how to set it up to serve those purposes.
Same here. I am inconsistent and easily bored with routine journals, so I have a blank journal in which I write whatever comes to mind. It doesn’t have to be every day but as often as I can. Be it happy or sad or in gratitude…..it will go down in ink. Occasionally I have just used random quotes and comments people have made as prompts especially on my phone journal. Either way that system seems to work best for me right now. So there is no best way to journal except your way to which you default.

This is tangential to your point, but when I was doing gratitude journaling, I decided it was okay to list the same thing on several consecutive days so long as I could still actually feel grateful for it when I wrote it down. I think the goal is not to come up with a list of every individual thing that you're grateful for, but to take the time to experience the feeling of gratitude.
I go back and forth--sometimes the repetition is perfect for me, other times it makes me crazy. One thing that helps when I can't do the repetition is to have a list of other questions or prompts that require you to check in with yourself and just do one of those instead....

My mother was a nursing home nurse. Her takeaway was that people need hobbies. People without hobbies had more severe mental decline after retirement.
Watching friends resist retirement because of the fear of "what do I do if I don't work" is very humbling and definitely underlines this point
