Wow I had no idea, this is crazy. Very hard to tell them apart with a quick look. Thanks for posting this video this is really helpful , especially considering how similar they look.
I know this video is old, but this is really good advice, I just started collecting game boy games and I accidentally bought a fake sonic advance. So far these tips have help me steer clear from those fake games
It's crazy I never noticed this but I went looking through my collection of GBA and GBC games after watching this video and a game I had for more than half my life is a fake and I never knew the difference before watching this video.
I know for a fact that fake one was created from scratch in photoshop, they do that so they can easily print labels from a computer. I have to admit it's a decent job for a graphic designer, but they obviously didn't care about making it exact which means they probably didn't get paid enough for the job.
Now that made we wonder, if you dont sell the fakes, what do you do with them? I wont lie id hate to have a fake copy of any game on gameboy however the prices for the real deal especially on the triple A titles are insane. If i could buy the fakes, choice of 5 games for $10 id be willing to pay up. Just cuz the cartridge is fake dont mean the game itself is.
I wonder if my local retro game store inspects cartridges to tell if it is authentic or a counterfeit. I remember getting a fake Pokemon FireRed cartridge at GameStop back in 2006 when I was 13 years old. I should've known better as the color was off and when I tried to link it up with Pokemon XD or attempt to migrate Pokemon to my Pearl copy it said that it's unable to link. Another red flag is when I checked my Hall of Fame in the Pokemon Center, it said that it's corrupted. Lastly, whenever I loaded my game, it said "Save file is ok." Sadly, it erased my save file 2 years later. Employees in game stores need to be trained, so they can spot a fake should someone attempt to sell a game, console, controllers, and products.
I also heard stories where people are getting scammed on buying fake NES Mini on sites like Ebay and Amazon. My dad actually got me an NES Mini for Christmas in 2018 (by request) and he ordered it on Amazon. It was the PAL version of the NES Mini and I *was lucky* that it's not a counterfeit.
Hi there! Sorry I’m making a comment on one of your older videos. I’m struggling tell if a game I’m interested in purchasing from a private owner, is real or fake. May you please help me?
In regards to the imprint above the Nintendo seal, you said all GBA games need to have that imprint, not just Pokemon, correct? Is this true for GameBoy and GameBoy Color as well?
I bought the first Mario Party game for the N64 on eBay . Little did I know until after I bought it . That it was a fake and once I found out that it . Was fake I was not very happy .
ok listen my boy dkoldies pls lower the price for the game boy colors i wanted to make my bestfreinds dream cometrue and buy him a gameboy since his moms one got stolen BUT THE PRICE IS 150 DOLARS
Where do you get the 2 ones with the light purple cartridge with link on the stickers and do they save? If anyone has those I mentioned do tell me If those save.
I have the same Oracle seasons or something similar and I believe it's fake as well.there's no rating even though by this time they were putting ratings on game boy color games there's no Nintendo logo on it and every game boy color game I ever bought has game boy color on the top of the front of game cartridge mine doesn't.

Now you're trained in the art of spotting fakes!

Yeah right
Make sure you’re super thorough before you let the boss smash some rare official variant.

Where did you get the bootleg gameboy color games from? I've never seen them with an actual bubble cartridge shape before!
It came from collections set they bought from others
Thanks Joey I am thinking when I get a job and a car I’m going over to DK Oldies Store to get some games and Mario kart wii
Can't wait to help you build up your collection. But our store is completely online now. Check out dkoldies.com

they use the games to train new employees to spot fakes
Those are some good tips thanks.

But what if I want to buy fake games? Do you sell them?
What do you do with all those fake games. Recycle them
Honestly though, what’s the point? Not trying to be arrogant. Bought Pokémon Crystal on a fake cartridge and it works fine.
fakes have no value for collectors
also the gb and gbc cartridges have imprints
0:21 that ESRB font kekw 😆
Do the fakes actually play?
In regards to the imprint above the Nintendo seal, you said all GBA games need to have that imprint, not just Pokemon, correct? Is this true for GameBoy and GameBoy Color as well?
Yup, all authentic cartridges will have that imprint, regardless of what the game is
Are there any other ways to spot fake Gen 1 Pokemon Games (Yellow particularly)?
Is it fine on noon???
Really helpful - cheers
I bought the first Mario Party game for the N64 on eBay . Little did I know until after I bought it . That it was a fake and once I found out that it . Was fake I was not very happy .
It's a shame with how many reproductions there are in the market :(
Does it at least work? I wouldn't mind so much if it works and was significantly cheaper.
I love this man

My oracle of seasons has a yellow non transparent case and it says game instead of gameboy. Is it fake Of Real

En Argentina estamos tan mal que esa caja de juegos copia serían capaz de vendertela por la esposa de uno a cambio de la caja esa
title is misleading i was hoping to see Gameboy not Gameboy color or Gameboy advance
Would you be willing to part with these fakes? They're so bad that I want to display them XD
