22:00 for those who are wondering about the dish he mentioned, it's called la bandeja paisa, it's typical of the Antioquia department in Medellín and the Paisa region. Bandeja means platter/tray in English.
It consists of eggs, sausages, chicharrones (pork crackling), avocado pear, plantain and rice and peas. Sancocho is what we would call soup/broth depending on the level of thickness. Never been to Colombia, but that's the Spanish accent I've been learning for the past 11 years. I'd love to visit there someday. I really enjoyed the video.

I am always interested in the interviews of Jamaicans living in Latin America because I'm a Jamaican living in Costa Rica. One thing that he said that resonates with me is the matter of making friends, similarly it is very hard here! Family and friend circles here are almost impenetrable. Maybe it's a latin american thing.

Good interview, I get it with some of the racial realities of life in Columbia, and even with some Blacks from Puerto Rico, Dominican Repub. etc. I once knew someone from PR who's grandmother was Black, as Black as my own grandmother from Jamaica, yet this young lady who was of a more mixed complexion, would always say..."my grandmother is sorta kinda Black" there was never a full acknowledgement. Ask her how she identified herself, she would say I'm not Black but Puerto Rican. Somehow these Spanish influenced Countries have a hard time dealing with race, although they do have systematic racism, it's almost like the Blacks in those Countries are often taught to self hate, this could be true of USA too, but I think most of us have gotten over it. . It's complicated, great interview.
