I'm in the crowd that hates when players rush back from injury. I'd rather someone come back at a better time for their team rather than play injured and not perform well. That last sentence in particular. What did he think would happen if he'd spoke to Embiid in this context? I think that reporter isn't just disrespectful, he is just plain stupid to do so.
Embiid was mad because the reporter made him look stupid. Don't say you don't care what anyone says about immediately after showing that you care what people say about you.
Yeah and it being initially reported as a punch really colors the situation. I'm totally out of the sixers loop and initial reports made it sound like Embiid took a dudes head off for nothing. Not to say it's all chill but you are ASKING for it talking about a man like that.
I'm so glad you are bringing up the human aspect of this. Embiid hears it all from Philly even though the 76ers were in The Process when he arrived. It must be so difficult for him to change from the hero that saved the organization to the scapegoat. From getting the love Philly has to offer to all of the scorn of not doing enough.
This is probably the worst franchise for him to land on. Still, he is not without fault at all. If he had been a better man all of his career, shown character, none of these criticisms would even exist.
@pinobluevogel6458 that is very true. Philly is ruthless when the expectation is to win. I'm not saying he is without fault. But he's the one who flipped this organization around. When you draft Okafor, Fultz, Simmons, trade Mikal on draft night, and pay Tobias Harris over 30 mil. It's not going to end well. Embiid has his share of the blame, but when you have dysfunction around you, it's hard to function.

@@Bkzflyest0823 Why is it my problem that the media doesn't tell me those things? I'm not going to research Joel Embiid, I got better things to do, like watching actual basketball, this drama doesn't interest me in the slightest. All I've ever seen from Embiid is good basketball, coupled with a ton of injuries, a big dropoff in every postseason, a lot of conditioning issues, some foul play on the court and some questionable language off the court in interviews. If that is what media gives me, that is what I know. Go complain against them if you think they should do a better job communicating. I just have to base my opinion on what is presented and it isn't great.
The way I see it, the shove was understandable and probably even morally acceptable, however it just can’t be condoned by either the Sixers or the league. You can’t set a precedent that violence, even something as small as a shove, is an acceptable reaction to words, even if they are horrible and inappropriate.
Sure, but in order for it to be both effective and understandable for Embiid to be punished for getting physical, the reporter must also be punished for stepping out of line in his article. Which is just difficult since Embiid and the reporter are employed by two different companies. Sixers and NBA PR teams will want a quick decision to get it over with, but the people in charge of disciplinary actions may want to wait to make sure they're making a decision that sends the right message here.
@@albericponcedeleon2696He didn’t step out of line. He literally said Embiid says that he wants to leave a great legacy for his son who is named after his brother who was killed in a car accident. No, you can. What he did was acceptable. You don’t act like that, period. It’s not acceptable that the reporter acts that way. Certainly not that he keeps his job. Not acceptable management treated it that way. Talk to me about that before talking about a shove being uncalled for

If you still feel this way, you’re just bootlicking
I agree with plenty of your take… but “all I’ve done for this city” what’s he referring to exactly? Doing his job? Getting paid to play basketball and playing a few seasons worth of games in a decade? Is it the confrence titles and the winning culture? The positive mentality? The leadership? I would like to know. He is an excellent player, and doesn’t deserves the treatment from that reporter and comment about his family that’s absolute garbage behavior. You can’t be injury prone and overweight and be whiny and then expect to get treated like superstars that are available when they’re needed. And on playing while injured… when else can he play, if he didn’t play injured when would he earn that 50M per year?
Joel Embid is overweight for an athlete relative to height when he spends time out injured. And yes he hasn't won for the city but let's not pretend he doesn't have a higher chance of going somewhere else and winning (not guaranteed) much easier (as a 2nd or 3rd option for slightly less pay) than Philly getting his replacement and challenging. Embid's presence in Philly and their consistent playoff appearances keep a lot of people employed and making bread in Philly for the local area.
I am genuinely confused at why you think he hasn’t done a lot for his city? He plays his hardest basketball for the 76ers and is constantly playing through injuries just to give his team a chance at playoff hopes. People don’t often understand how much he plays through injuries and if he wanted to just be a Ben Simmons and never play for the past 3 years he could. Not every team can win a championship and he’s done a lot for the team with how much he’s had to overcome imo 🤷♂️
“I’ve done too much for this city” = You can’t blatantly disrespect and personally attack the only reason your franchise has had any type of relevance for the past decade. No Embiid isn’t a model superstar and his best ability is far from availability. I’m not even a huge fan of his at all but you can’t just do the whole “he gets paid to play so stfu” It doesn’t matter if he’s a $5 or $5,000,000 work horse. He’s your PRIZE fucking work horse at the end of the day. He could be a bitch like Ben Simmons.. The team lives and dies with Biid. Which is really a GM issue and not a “him” issue.
I think my main cricism of him is actually that he is, like Ben Simmons, a soft player in many respects, showing weakness of character most of all; Flopping everytime to gain freethrows (which is dangerous, especially at his weight and size), talking smack to the media, boasting about his achievements, complaining about a lot, except being critical at himself in the process.
@@pinobluevogel6458he doesn’t flop. Flopping is jumping on the ground. He sometimes flails you show there is contact. I don’t know what you watch of embiid because of all my team watching him. He doesn’t act over confident. Like Jordan said can you talk big when you’re down/losing a lot of guys in the league don’t do that. It shows his confidence in himself and his skill. Most of the sixers playoff failures are not due to him. His supporting cast has always been an issue, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Markelle Flutz. What achievements does he boast about. Other players got championed for the very same thing. I understand everyone has players they like and dislike but when you don’t try minimise your bias against for sake of talking the facts.
@@Joshua-qc1li I could be overreacting to what I've seen from him and bias is certainly involved, but this opiniion, however limited, is formed over many year of him in the league and the more I watched him, the more I saw stuff I didn't like, including all the things I mentioned in my post. And he certainly does flop, he falls over way too easily for a player his weight and size. Even if it is legit and he is put on the ground by force, he should strengthen his core so he isn't downed so easily. Not only is it annoying to watch people fall over for no reason other than to bait freethrows, it is also dangerous if you're so heavy and big, potentially giving unnecessary injury risk. And I don't think he behaves like a good rolemodel at all outside the court as well. Even in this interview, where he is clearly in the right as that reporter disrespected him for no reason and used his famility in inappropriate context, he comes off as a bit of an asshole. Saying stuff like 'I've done too much for this city' is just not classy. He gets paid millions of dollars to work this hard and he is not doing more than any other NBA stars in the league. I think he might actually be doing less, but that is ofcourse up to debate and I can't fairly judge that. Now I'm not saying this because it is up to me, or that my opinion matters much in this situation, I'm saying he should be a rolemodel and be a better man. If he cleaned up his act, at some point the dirt everyone is throwing at him is going to slow down and (hopefully) stop. He should be an inspiring force for young children to play basketball, not whatever the hell he is now. It would certainly benefit him and all the millions of people he affects in his life. And you don't even have to be an approachable media personality, just do the minimal that is required of you and let your basketball do the talking, which is something Embiid is certainly capable of.
@@Joshua-qc1liexcept he does flop and there is an entire montage of him flopping. we don’t need you to redefine what the word flopping means in layman usage, as whatever definition you may use, flopping refers to a player exaggerating the impact of any contact made with them and Embiid is currently the biggest perpetrator of this in the NBA. he also plays dirty and constantly boasts about his achievements in an effort to hide the blemishes in his career. saying things like he could have been the GOAT if it weren’t for injuries without ever having been to a conference final? and it’s not like he’s saying that behind closed doors because that would be different. anyone can pose any what-ifs behind closed doors. however, when you get on a podcast that is made to broadcast to thousands of people, and you get on there and start spewing these hypotheticals without there being any concrete evidence of what you’re saying, you are clearly aiming to push a narrative and just end up appearing delusional. with that said, embiid doesn’t deserve to be bombarded by hate comments from his own fanbase because he is the best thing to happen to the sixers since AI and is the one who’s brought them any sort of relevancy. apart from his personality and on-the-court antics, embiid deserves appreciation from sixers fans for the attention and hope he’s brought their team regardless of whether they’ve gone all the way or not.

Funny enough, Shaq spent most of his career injured. In his 20 seasons in the NBA, he played less than 70 games 13 times. He played less than 60 games in 9 of those seasons. And he played less than 50 games in 5 of those seasons!

For as much as I dislike Embiid, especially on the floor for all the foul bating and dirty play, he was 1000% in the right to punch the reporter. Where I'm from (Naples) you criticize performances and drive to win, but you NEVER touch someone's family unless you want the shit beat out of you. The comments against Embiid load managing makes sense when you see where the team is now. Ofc playoffs are the most important thing, but you need to get there first and if you can get a high seed you will have home court (and seeing Embiid's performances in past playoffs, homecourt suits him better). While Embiid is managing, Maxey is carrying this team and they are still 1 and 4 against normal a** teams, not contenders... Agree with the Hayes thing tho. F**k that guy...
The problem is Embiid can’t stay healthy over a full season, would you rather them be a good seed and fizzle out again because everyone is injured? Or be a low seed but be true contenders with an actually healthy Joel Embiid?
@trikelikesfish Id rather have both lol! What I mean is, load management is not bad but complwtely sidelining him feels like an overcorrection. He doesnt have to put 35 min per game with a usage of 40% like last season, but at least play good minutes for your team and the fans; he is the face of the Process and he is in sweats while his team loses to the flipping Bucks. Last season, Harden was gone and Maxey was finding his place in the offense. Right now, PG is back and Maxey is playing like an all-star from the getgo; they can take the load of carrying the offense from Embiid and he can play close to 20 min, ride the paint a bit more and score a bit less

The thing that weirds me out about Philly media with Joel is that they act like he’s gone completely AWOL when they know better than anyone that this is a systemic plan that was agreed upon by the entire franchise. I get not liking the lack of transparency on what seems to be holding him back from playing but it’s completely disingenuous when they put the entirety of the blame on him despite morey and nurse saying they signed off on the plan as well
@@pinobluevogel6458they're 1 and 6 now. If they don't do something soon they won't be able to dig themselves out of the hole in time for the playoffs.

I feel like people have been twisting the phrase "he brought up my family / brought my family into this". The phrase originally means like the other guy is insulting the guy's family... and this is bad. However, the phrase is twisted here into "He said he is trying to be a great franchise player for his son, but he didn't play like a great franchise player". This is not very problematic. I mean sure... brining family into this, is kind of irrelevant. However, we should not conflate our response to this with our response to "he brought my family into this (as in he is insulting my family)". The reporter is simply antagonizing Embiid in his article, and brought up his family in a pretty irrelevant but non-offensive way. Embiid punched the report because he couldn't handle the antagonization, while the "brought up my family" is essentially an irrelevant excuse that is different from the typical "It is bad to bring up someone's family by insulting the family". It is Embiid who is mostly at fault for unable to tolerate antagonizing reporting which is normal and not a very bad thing in sport media. The reporter simply mentioned something mostly irrelevant, which is not that big of a deal, and doesn't justify physical violence in any form, regardless how unharmful the shoving is.
Most players who are over around 250 lbs get injured alot. Players over that weight who get lower body injuries have an even higher risk for new injuries. Joel Embiid was injured before he entered the league. It is a miracle of modern sports medicine that he gets to keep playing at all.
Been watching Rusty for quite sometime and to see him start to defend and treat Embiid reasonably is super nice. I really appreciate the stance Rusty takes in a lot of these videos when it comes to emphasising the headspace and wellbeing of a lot of these players. People often forget that the NBA isn't some reality TV show. These are real people with real emotions behind them. "Oh but they make millions just to play basketball" like having money invalidates your right to being treated like a human being.
Jacob missing the point like always when it comes to superstar players. Embiid is constantly injured BECAUSE he doesn't take care of his body . People are still sh*tting on Luka fir the exact same thing but Joel doesn't. I get your point but also it's difficult to stay in shape when you're always injured 😅 also not everyone can get into shape playing mid way through the season cause you'll get injured and the cycles repeat. Kinda like Zion. Not defending Embid, he should be in shape that's his job. But still injuries is something to take into account
If someone says something to you that’s hurtful and mean and uncalled for at your job and you push or shove them, you’re going to get in trouble. The person that said those things will also get in trouble. They both should/will get punished from the NBA.

@@pacquac9958 id say frequent injuries could be an organizational problem. If players can't heal properly it's the job of the training staff to find a way to get them back. It can't just be the players to blame for injuries where the rehab process was the problem getting back to playing. But that's definitely a good point. Everyone would've been asking questions if they passed up those two
Absolutely no need for the reporter to bring up his deceased brother, that’s pretty clear. However, if roles were reversed where a reporter shoved a player over something similar, everyone would come unhinged. Joel is acting like he’s a public servant to the city of Philly, if he was really concerned with being available for “the city” he wouldn’t have played in the Olympics and would have focused more on being available for the start of the season. I think the organization needs to be held accountable, why in the F was Joel playing 30+ minutes per game, last playoffs seemed like dude never came out. The whole “new norm” of not playing back to backs is so BS, the new norm would be for him to actually play most of the season and be in shape, geez!!!!
To be fair, he cannot easily play 30+ minutes a game, as he gets gassed if he does. Most centers and especially players his size, should just play less minutes to compensate for their extreme energy use.
Just because he has antics and plays dirty, that doesn't mean he can't be in the right here. I think he has a good case that this reporter has been highly disrespectful and unnecessarily so. But for sure Embiid has no right to boast he has done everything in his power and certainly he hasn't been the best rolemodel at all with his actions. You reap what you sow. If he wants to get treated better, he needs to clean up his own act before that is going to change. In this case, I think he has a valid point, but being a more immaculate player could have been a way better way to prevent all of this in the first place.
Joel Embiid is made of glass and will be the 2nd player in the NBA to win MVP and not make the hall of fame (D-Rose being first) But then again, the basketball hall of fame is a joke. They’ll both make it.
good on you for understanding both sides of the story. people have been harsh on joel for not playing, so they take it out on him like this. had this been a separate event, I'm sure people would've investigated the cause of the shove, for as huge embiid is, he's just a troll for fun
Fuck outta here 😂 yall love insulting people and want them to act like it's okay. Bro lucky he said ts to Embiid cause a shove too little for disrespecting the dead.
I agree he made his point clear and respectfully, but still a lot of people in these comments take offense. I'd prefer it if Rusty had stayed away from the subject, as probably nothing good comes out of it.
As a Sixer fan I'm just over all of the bs that happens with this team. We can never have a normal season. Every year there is some type of drama around this team. I don't care about Michael Hayes. No one did before he and Embiid had their altercation. What I care about is just being a normal functioning NBA franchise and not the perpetual dumpster fire that we Sixer fans have to endure annually. Everyone is caught up on the mention of Embiid family. But Hayes was right. Embiid consistently says one thing and does the exact opposite. He says his health in the post season is a priority and yet plays in the Olympics after knee surgery. Like wtf bro?
Right? Embiid should be thanking Hayes for getting the goldfish attention span NBA fans to take pity on him. At least until Embiid gets back on the court and tries to injure someone again. I think the league needs to implement transparency rules about whether players are active or not, and if they are injured or not, purely for the fans who go to buy tickets.
As much as I can disagree with some of your nba takes thank you for always speaking out for the athletes so many nba channels and fans alike dismiss anything thing they say because of there salary
Embiid shouldn't have brought up his family's name in the first place when talking about 'leaving a legacy', when he can't even remotely back it up with his actions. Talk the talk, and walk the walk. All Spears did was remind Embiid of what he said
Love ya Rusty but this is kind of an emotional argument. Embiid is a professional. He can't put his hands on anyone in an offensive manner if it's not in the context of a basketball game. That's why the execs aren't backing him. "Ignoring the human element" is exactly what billions of humans are paid MUCH less to do. Also, the inability to keep ones hands to themselves is a major sign of immaturity, the exact thing all the old heads criticize him for... I'm not saying they're right in every aspect but this certainly doesn't help his case. The reporter shouldn't have said what he did, but you can't let yourself get baited like that, especially to the point that you get physical.
Watching Jokic is crazy man. This guy can score at will, and idk how so many dont realize that he is a supreme scorer. He is the 50th player oat when it comes to ppg. He has a higgher efg and ts% than any person in front of him, whilst generating all of his shots by himself. He could super easily go for 35 ppg if he wanted to... Arguably a top 3 scorer oat, the only thing missing is the volume, bc he is a pass first guy.
Bro… I gotta bust my ass 80 hours weeks and u make about 60-80k a year… and if I ever felt like not showing up to work then I’d lose my job .. the fact Embiid can do all this and get paid more than imma make during my whole life over a 3 year period… I expect him to be available.. talking about family is a no go zone.. the reporter messed up there.. but to get paid like nba players get paid.. we gotta hold them accountable
I think its completely reasonable for Morey to say that that embiid's shove is unacceptable. He's your star player and assault is assault, you cant risk him being suspended or dealing with legal troubles during the season.
a shove is not "just a shove" when the person doing the shoving is 7 feet, 280 pounds edit: it wouldve been one thing if the reporter dug up something on embiids family or something, but he didnt even say anything bad about them, he just brought up something that embiid likes to say a lot himself. that does not justify putting your hands on someone half your size in the slightest
Everyone should know that if you write something very critical on a player and then include references to his dead brother and his child, that it might trigger some sort of response. No it is worse .. you should have the empathy to think that it might be wrong to do so in the first place. Maybe not shove worthy wrong, but still very wrong. Just criticize his play, his lack of preparation, his lack of character or any other legitimate thing, but leave his personal matters out of these articles, it is just not the place for it.

@@Muunstaa Look, it is hard to say I relate to Embiid in this situation. I'm not a media personality, I have zero media training and I certainly don't care a lot about harmful words, especially if they come from a person that is clearly disrespectful and tactless in every way. I agree he should be a better man and have the correct response. I also think he should have been helped by some media expert to formulate a strong response that clearly shows his disgust with the reporter, but without putting him off as in the wrong here. He needed to be forceful but also untouchable. Losing your temper and shoving a man means you've lost whatever argument was had. That said, I do think the reporter is the one that is at blame here. It is not about the exact words he used, it is about the context he used those words in. I'm not a psychologist, but I do have enough empathy to understand that saying obvious negative things and doing that straight after mentioning his family, will trigger an emotional response. I think not realizing this means you are seriously lacking empathy. It could have been avoided easily and there was no reason doing so. Both are in the wrong here, but I do think it was the reporter that crossed the line first.
I think star players should learn how these pundits operate and how to actually hurt them. Teams should proactively come up with and offer them ways to resolve these kinds of issues. If Embiid had been told he can have Hayes be thrown out of the locker room and have his access revoked until he apologizes, he would probably not have felt so helpless as to get physical.
There's nothing crazy about it. I've seen people get killed for mentioning a person's dead relatives in a less than flattering manner. Embiid only shoved him. And to the crowd who thinks he's "resting". Go back and count the amount of surgeries he's had, just on the lower body. A lot of those injuries tend to be chronic and lingering. People that size usually don't have long careers. I'm honestly amazed he's played this long. People just need to think things through a little more critically.
The beat writer is definitely wrong and a huge jerk for bringing Embiid's family into it. There is plenty to criticize Embiid about like how he is the dirtiest player in the nba. And he the fact that he probably wouldnt get hurt if he didnt flop so much
I don't care you can't justify bringing his dead brother into your article to mock him. He played through injury during last year's playoffs for crying out loud
This comment is incredibly out of touch and disingenuous. Don’t act like embiid could simply keep all his time and money for himself and not do any charity and community work it’s not just about basketball where someone can make a difference in a city
I don’t like Embiid as a player. I damn near hate him (the 76ers esp.) However, this shit has got me rooting for the guy. He CLEARLY should not have been out on the court for the last few months. He looks injured. Him not playing back to backs in order to have a full recovery day is probably the best case scenario for everyone involved, except for Embiid.
When someone 7ft tall and almost 300 lbs of lean muscle shoves someone, it's an assault. Shoving someone can do lots of damage if the person is shoved into something or falls down.
I am the biggest Embiid hater on this planet, for basketball related reasons, and Embiid didn't go nearly far enough with what he did. People are way too comfortable with doing this shit, like involving irrelevant family stuff. That's only warranted to be mentioned in the first place if the player mentions it first and then still there are limitations to how.

the only times he throws teamates under the bus is when it is warrented. He's never "choked" in the play offs. I sympathize with Embiid, he’s human and this reporter crossed a line. Not saying Embiid should have shoved him, give him a fine. However, the Sixers should have given the reporter a lifetime ban. You cannot allow a reporter to attack the family member of a player because that players had injury issues. This is a huge failure by Morey & Brand, I would not be surprised if Embiid requested a trade.

He also sold out his Cameroonian heritage for a cheap olympic gold medal and stank the place out with his performances whilst doing so.

What I mean is, load management is not bad but complwtely sidelining him feels like an overcorrection. Last season, Harden was gone and Maxey was finding his place in the offense. Right now, PG is back and Maxey is playing like an all-star from the getgo; they can take the load of carrying the offense from Embiid and he can play close to 20 min, ride the paint a bit more and score a bit less

I get not liking the lack of transparency on what seems to be holding him back from playing but it’s completely disingenuous when they put the entirety of the blame on him despite morey and nurse saying they signed off on the plan as well
No coach would willingly agree sitting Embiid out if it wasn't at least good for the team's success in the long run.
@@pinobluevogel6458they're 1 and 6 now. If they don't do something soon they won't be able to dig themselves out of the hole in time for the playoffs.
I have a strong feeling that the Sixers org. responded that way likely to avoid lawsuits and to just put the fire out. But if that's not the case, it's pretty messed up they wouldn't take Joel's side. They could've at least been more neutral in their opinion
But yet they want these nba players to be loyal to teams, only they loyal to is money
You don't know what you're talking about. Y'all are just soft like Embiid
Thank God someone with some sense.
I would love that video about humanity in sports (and the lack of it sometimes from players or media). Will support it when it comes out
Most players who are over around 250 lbs get injured alot.
Im a Embiid Fan, i know he’s an ass , rude and not everyones favorite but its insane to see the bs treatment he gets when he puts himself on the line for Philly every game and does what he does. Thank you Rusty
Man, even as someone who doesnt like Embiid because of his flagrants and doing stuff like pulling Robinson down on his legs, that Hayes article was so out of line. 76ers should have banned the dude for it to both back their player and prevent any incident
What did he say that was controversial. He literally quoted Joel's own words back to him. Joel is a giant rich baby.
@@TheMykr0 Everyone says it's so out of line and vaguely alludes to family but the dude literally just repeated his words back to him.
@@TheMykr0Saying someone else is disgracing or dishonoring their son and deceased brother is out of line. It doesn't matter at all that Embiid has said he wants to leave a legacy for them. That doesn't give this schmuck reporter the right to use their names to attack Embiid. That's objectively disrespectful regardless of the context. Keep it to ball and leave family out of it.
The Joel Embiid Situation Is Crazy
I really appreciate the stance Rusty takes in a lot of these videos when it comes to emphasising the headspace and wellbeing of a lot of these players. People often forget that the NBA isn't some reality TV show. These are real people with real emotions behind them. "Oh but they make millions just to play basketball" like having money invalidates your right to being treated like a human being.
I agree but you wanna know what’s even more ridiculous?? The fact that you have yet to make a documentary on the underrated GOAT Sir Raymond Felton
What about one of the greatest chuckers of all-time, Antoine Walker?
About your deep dive on the "Dehumanization of Professional Athletes" ... please do! I would love to listen to it, and I am sure many of us would!
And people hated Harden for calling Morey a liar, smh i hate the media
Never thought I'd see Rusty defending Joel Embiid and giving a nuanced take on his playoff woes. Love to see it
Jacob missing the point like always when it comes to superstar players.
Embiid is constantly injured BECAUSE he doesn't take care of his body .
People are still sh*tting on Luka fir the exact same thing but Joel doesn't.
If he wasn't out of shape every start of the season and played himself in shape he wouldn't be gassed as much and this injury prone every year
I get your point but also it's difficult to stay in shape when you're always injured 😅 also not everyone can get into shape playing mid way through the season cause you'll get injured and the cycles repeat. Kinda like Zion.
Not defending Embid, he should be in shape that's his job. But still injuries is something to take into account
@@andresdelbusto2184 Zion notoriously couldn’t stay in shape after being drafted. His injuries started after that
If someone says something to you that’s hurtful and mean and uncalled for at your job and you push or shove them, you’re going to get in trouble. The person that said those things will also get in trouble. They both should/will get punished from the NBA.
if minimum wage workers have to bite their tongue whenever someone says something disrespectful to them, then professional athletes sure as shit do too
I dont think people remember how bad the 76ers were before Embiid got there... He was the one who turned around the process.
The absolute laughing stock of the league, and he has completely transformed that even without being very healthy in his career
@@AmariAaron look at the people drafted during that time too. Okafor, Simmons, Fultz, Noel. They drafted Mikal Bridges to trade him for Zhaire Smith. They never got it right around him and he's the one to blame
@@colemilz You can't blame the organisation either on that tbf, Simmons and Fultz were both consensus Number 1 lottery picks. If Fultz kept his shot and Simmons his spine, they could have went far.
@@pacquac9958 id say frequent injuries could be an organizational problem. If players can't heal properly it's the job of the training staff to find a way to get them back. It can't just be the players to blame for injuries where the rehab process was the problem getting back to playing. But that's definitely a good point. Everyone would've been asking questions if they passed up those two
@@pacquac9958Fultz was absolutely not the consensus for the top pick in 2017, it literally caused Philly to get fleeced in the trade with Boston
Huge W Rusty, I think Biid has every right to demand a trade or clean house on the current front office after this debacle.
What did he say that was so bad? Quote it
for a second there I almost felt bad for Embiid, but then I remembered the laundry list of his antics and dirty plays and it went away, whew
I'm a very proud Embiid hater, but bringing up the dude's dead family is ridiculous and any normal human would act the same way
@@benjordan2606Agreed. You don’t bring family into shit ever.
@@benjordan2606two things can be true don’t bring up someone’s dead family, don’t try to intentionally injure people.
I HEAR YOU,BUT THE REPORTER BROKE THE " CARDINAL RULE"
LEAVE FAMILY OUT OF IT.
Joel Embiid is made of glass and will be the 2nd player in the NBA to win MVP and not make the hall of fame (D-Rose being first)
But then again, the basketball hall of fame is a joke. They’ll both make it.
good on you for understanding both sides of the story. people have been harsh on joel for not playing, so they take it out on him like this. had this been a separate event, I'm sure people would've investigated the cause of the shove, for as huge embiid is, he's just a troll for fun
Joell still got to be professional
Fuck outta here 😂 yall love insulting people and want them to act like it's okay. Bro lucky he said ts to Embiid cause a shove too little for disrespecting the dead.
Other than the second night of a back to back being meaningless, this was one of your better videos ever. Kudos Jacob. 💪🏽💪🏽
Appreciate your words man.
All Spears did was remind Embiid of what he said
100% on your page, sir!
It'd be one thing if he was insulting his family too like everyone says but literally the reporter brought up what he said is his motivation to play
It’s kinda crazy that this was one of the main reasons he didn’t go higher in the draft. Th scouts were spot on.
Matt Barnes never threw a single punch in his entire nba career
Bro… I gotta bust my ass 80 hours weeks and u make about 60-80k a year… and if I ever felt like not showing up to work then I’d lose my job .. the fact Embiid can do all this and get paid more than imma make during my whole life over a 3 year period… I expect him to be available.. talking about family is a no go zone.. the reporter messed up there.. but to get paid like nba players get paid.. we gotta hold them accountable
I think its completely reasonable for Morey to say that that embiid's shove is unacceptable. He's your star player and assault is assault, you cant risk him being suspended or dealing with legal troubles during the season.
a shove is not "just a shove" when the person doing the shoving is 7 feet, 280 pounds
edit: it wouldve been one thing if the reporter dug up something on embiids family or something, but he didnt even say anything bad about them, he just brought up something that embiid likes to say a lot himself.
that does not justify putting your hands on someone half your size in the slightest
Everyone just keeps screaming he insulted his family lol. These people didn't even read the article 😊
Embiid uses it as is motivation to play and he was giving context. You literally can't think that that's insulting his family come on bro
@@pinobluevogel6458 i agree with you that there is plenty to criticize about embiid without bringing his personal life into it.
but embiid stated these things himself, publically and the reporter just picked up on it
Unneccessary? very much
Does it justify putting your hands on someone? not a single bit and if y´all think it does, you need to grow up
@@Muunstaa Look, it is hard to say I relate to Embiid in this situation.
I like this new format or approach.
Millions of reasons to hate embiid so many but not wanting to play or being considered anything less than a competitor is wild
Also Busty Ruckets
assault is intentional physical contact without the consent of the other person. A shove is assault.
His name is Mr.Glass.
I do feel like his playoff dropping has kind of been swept under the rug once you bring up the injuries.
Was he injured in 2019
Marcus Hayes crossed the line
Embiid has been suspended 3 games. Meanwhile Marcus Hayes got an apology from the 76ers. I feel like I'm going insane.
The whole Joel situation is crazy as a whole 😮💨🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
The beat writer is definitely wrong and a huge jerk for bringing Embiid's family into it. There is plenty to criticize Embiid about like how he is the dirtiest player in the nba. And he the fact that he probably wouldnt get hurt if he didnt flop so much

I don't care you can't justify bringing his dead brother into your article to mock him. He played through injury during last year's playoffs for crying out loud
People always bring up money like that's the going to automatically solve the issue, it's won't. Stop acting like it will.

With that being said, Embiid did nothing wrong here
I am the biggest Embiid hater on this planet, for basketball related reasons, and Embiid didn't go nearly far enough with what he did. People are way too comfortable with doing this shit, like involving irrelevant family stuff. That's only warranted to be mentioned in the first place if the player mentions it first and then still there are limitations to how.

And now wants to be a part time player and on an insane salary. I have no sympathy for him professionally… but never bring dead family or any family into it
So can I not question Karl Malones parenting style? Legitimate question where is that line drawn
the only times he throws teamates under the bus is when it is warrented. He's never "choked" in the play offs. He's played heaviliy injured through many play off series and that in it of itself deserves praise. In that he doesn't just sit and bitch about it and sit on the bench.
