    HEY Brandon great video, I did my 1989 Johnson 40 yesterday ,I followed everything you did,I got a question about the drive shaft housing, when you slide it down the shaft and push it into place is it suppose to go flush,i could not push it flush but when i tighten the bolts it went flush fairly easy,is that normal or could it have possibly been hitting one of the washers down in the foot ?

    your`re awesome dude, maximum pro ! I got an old Mariner 82 ish. Changed the simrings around the propellershaft. When I start it up with water into the "siderims" the oil get`s creamish.. Checked the waterpump sealing and the gearhouse simring infront looked a bit rotten. Anyhow, how is it possible to suck in water with an "on land" waterflush.The oil I bought and filled was Sierra marine semisynthetic. Last gearchange was mineral and greyish, thats why I changed the "propseals". Hope maybe you can answar me. I live in Norway. Hard to get parts to old motors too. There were also metalgrindingspoon in the oil both times...

    I really hope that you are going to make a video about the tilt and maybe how to rebuild it. I can find video about trim tilt but not the manual tilt Greetings Poul from Denmark owner of a 1995 Evinrude 40hp

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  6 лет назад

      Can't rebuild it, Evinrude is clear about that.
      They don't even sell parts or seals for it. I'm sure a professional gas shock company wouldn't have a problem doing it, but that's sure not me.
      If they needed to be repaired, I would just replace it with a power trim unit and not look back.

      When you pound that bearing carrier in how far does that seat in? Looks like yours is almost a 1/4 inch in. I'm having problems catching reverse. Thinking its not in far enough. I tried turning shift shaft in and out. Perhaps the reverse gear is not in all the way. I do also have some play in prop shaft in and out.

    This is definitely off topic, but I need help doing the linkage adjusting/synchronization on my 1997 Johnson 15hp tiller model 2strk. The manual says to remove pin retaining throttle lever connector. However, you cannot access this without removing the lower power head cowling, which I attempted to do but there is one screw I cannot get to as it is almost underneath the power head by the latch mechanism and no way to access. Was wondering if anyone has ever been successful performing this synchro procedure and if so, how did you successfully remove that last screw (located inside the cowling, towards the back of the powerhead, right by the latch mechanism)? Thanks in advance!
