    Qatars bid didn’t build on having it played during the winter. They claimed they would solve it with having air conditioned football stadiums. It was after it was elected (and money was exchanged) that the problems with having tourist, journalists etc on the street in the worst heat became apparent. So the tournament had to be moved. Ooops.

    Qatar's bid to host the world cup has employed 100s of thousands of people into the Gulf state, improved labour laws for over 2 million expatriates living in the country and has set the country on the path of a sustainable future for its citizens. If the biggest show on the planet cannot be used for developing underdeveloped nations and putting them on a trajectory for sustained success then what benefit does it bring us if only the big 1st world countries are allowed to host them? Take a look at Brazil hosting the world cup and Olympics, or South Africa hosting the world cup and the impact of these tournaments on the local economy. For me, I would rather vote for a world cup to be hosted in North Korea or Saudi Arabia than for it to be hosted in New York if it would bring similar economic, infrastructural and human rights gains as that of Qatar. Let us all enjoy Qatar 2022 and forget all the side talks, It promises to be the best showpiece ever.

While it is true that Qatar hosting World Cup has many sins, the Qataris also want to tell that they are not going to accept Saudi domination for years to come. I don't know if ever we learn something from giving authoritarian nations the chance to host World Cup. Russia hosted the 2018 edition despite invading Ukraine four years ago. Australia or the USA should have hosted the 2022 World Cup, but in the end Qatar claimed the edition. Now, the upcoming 2034 bid will involve the increasingly authoritarian Southeast Asian nations in a potential clash with Australia-New Zealand bid.

      You don't know why? Because hosting the WC is becoming absurdly expensive due to FIFA's high demands, so democratic countries will see no justification whatsoever to spend taxpayers money on such event, similar to what's happening now with the Olympics, so you need an authoritarian government that no one can question it if spending lavishly on a 30-day event for merely putting their name on the known map is justified or not.

    Why it's almost impossible to get any objective report from this channel when it is about the Middle East and non-white nations?
    Racism is a huge motive in this report, Qatar is not the best in political freedom surely, but why don't you apply the same standards with, say, when USA is going to host the next WC, or the one in 1994 albeit having no football league back in the time? And football is not even the 3rd popular game in the US. Oh, and tell me please how Chelsea FC had achieved his leap? Wasn't it thru Abramovich's Russian gas money? And the fallacy of creating fake concept that Qatar has started its national football league just for the WC while it was established since the 1970s. But yes, Qatar and the gulf states are being built by oppressing foreign labour while US, UK, and other western nations are completely fine building their nations with the blood of other nations and races, nothing to see here. And please leave the LGBTQ subject out, as much as you see polygamy unacceptable and can't be forced onto your nations and cultures you should accept that such subject mustn't be forced on other nations. You are not the policeman of the world. France, UK and US are the last countries to lecture others about human rights and respecting their lives, unless if that subject is only limited to white European people.
    Surely I don't like that (make it rain) like show Qatar is putting on and indeed their many violations of human rights, but I don't see the same criticism about human rights when it comes to, well...I don't know, Arabs living in Israel or minorities in US with redistricting and gerrymandering and redlining. Or the way Britain left its colonies with cancer like borders, or France attacking Muslim women's rights, oh no...we don't talk about white nations' violations here.
    So since tears started to stream on migrant workers' rights can you honor my request and made your next video about migrant workers' and immigrants' conditions and suffering in US and Europe?

    9:45 Yeah I don't think NZ was a viable/serious candidate, probably just some over-zealous NZFootball exec, the government would never go along with it no matter who was in power, our biggest stadium seats a little over 50,000, the 2nd biggest 34,500, the next two are around 30,000 with pretty significant drop offs down the list, it's a 40,000 minimum capacity requirement, we'd have one definite and one that could be expanded to the level with extra seating. The best bet would be co-hosting with Australia like we've done with Rugby and Cricket in the past but no thanks.
    Unlike like Qatar we're not oil rich, we care about human rights and most importantly we don't give a shit about Association Football and aren't going to make sacrifices for it. Even if our stadiums were up to standard it would be a bad deal, at least with the Cricket and Rugby world cups the people running them aren't from evil organisations that encourage the shit Qatar is doing.

    If it's called a "world" cup, I think it make sense to organize it in Qatar, Cameroun, ... and not only in the West.
    The middle east and Africa have contributed soo much to the success of football, yet, it's sad to see this competition still focused on the West. World cups are mostly organized in Western countries. There are by far more European countries qualifying to the cup vs any other continent. How fair is that?
    Also who minds a winter world cup for the sake of a bit of diversity of a "world" cup? I don't.

    • @70jantje
      @70jantje 2 года назад +4

      aah yes the great western country's of Russia, Brazil and South Africa (the last 3 world cup locations). And the point is that is was done trough corruption in order for a despotic regime literally practising mass modern slavery to show off that is the problem here, not diversity in world cup locations (which is diverse as is already). In other words corruption and a despots want to show of his blood money got in the way of just organizing the best tournament.

    • @michaelb1761

      When was the last time a middle east country won a match? You know why Europe gets the most qualifiers? Because that's where the good teams are. Many national teams who fail to qualify would dominate in Africa or North America. Maybe that's why Europe gets the most entrants in the World Cup; they deserve them.
