I was in the US Army and in Operation Desert Storm, that Night digital coat was called "The Lizard" the were really long like a classic piano player tuxedo
Fascinating that Helikon, a European company (right?) is manufacturing these vintage US uniform patterns. I loved both the Tiger Stripes and the Nighttime Desert patterns back in the 1980s and 90s. I had and wore both in the US Army and One Shepherd for OPFOR purposes. Too cool. Now...will Helikon remake some of the cool old European patterns like Greek/Portuguese Lizard Stripe?
So, they have done Greek lizard actually! You can find it on Military1st website. I also finally found a Portuguese lizard that in a size that I can "some what" pull off. ha I'll do a video over it come spring/summer.
Heads up since the Greek lizard is on your radar, it is set to be updated first for SF then the rest of the Greek armed forces, still stripes, mix of light greens and browns resulting in a much lighter overall tone, higher specs to take into account IR performance, more ergonomic, flame retardant, etc. Contract issued to Siamidis SA the company that's also involved in the Nordic Combat Uniform. Greetings from across and thank you both for the great content.
Darn it.......now I have to buy ANOTHER Swagman Roll to go with all the other colors I own. Thanks, pard lol I kid, I kid. I'm not mad, but I do want one of those now. I've used them camping as a sleeping bag and they work perfect for me. As an aside, I remember dudes in DS1 bringing that camo pattern home and I wondered how the hell well would it work? Maybe well then, but it never did strike my fancy other than it being a good raincoat or something. Oh, well. Keep up the good work, sir. Thank you for what you do.
This camouflage looks similar to the pattern used by the former East German Volksarmie. The East German pattern did not have the splotches and the grid squares were more rectangular.
I had a couple of the small or medium sized parkas my uncle was issued. I used them as a kid for play and then later to cover my M249 or M240 when in a foxhole or turret.
the night camo pullover hoodie by kommandostore is one of my favorite piece of clothing to wear, not a real piece of military surplus equipment, but just a regular hoodie with the exact camo pattern
I've always liked the night desert pattern. I have numerous pieces. I have a casualty blanket that I picked up somewhere in the 90s. Very unusual piece. I've never found another one like it and can't find any information on it. It's more like a comforter. I also used to have actual bdu in night desert. Those got worn out unfortunately. I can't remember were I found them. Maybe US cavalry. In fact I seem to remember that gortex jacket that you're wear , being listed on their site. I never purchased one. Kind of resenting that now. I like the pants/trousers and the poncho liner. I'd have to put need pads into the trousers though. That's the only thing that I don't like about them.
Hey man, the have changed the cut of the hood from the Swagmann Roll. Now it is much more round and much bigger, I think that is way better. The problem is you don't know what you are getting now unless you get one of the reversables. This is what I did in desert night/desert.
You have the best military review channel anywhere. Please more Vietnam era if possible. Know you have plenty projects already. I’m a OD green guy mostly. FDE has just gotten old. I have some items FDE but Us eastern boys have no desert and sand. Lol!!!🤣
I ordered shorts in Desert night camo and it is very good! I need a shirt in this pattern but that‘s not possible because nobody offer a simple t shirt in this camo pattern. So it would be great if u make some shirts in desert night camo. 🤓
I love that US desert night camo, pretty cool stuff. I was gonna ask if you know of anywhere that sells any designated multicam alpine pieces, not just the cover all’s but actual jackets and pants.
Excellent video. I wear a 36 waist in Levi's. Would you recommend the XL (W36) pants? Im 5' 8" and 180. Since i wear large Crye shirts, im guessing an XL for the combat shirt. Thanks
Got an Adventure Tech DNC top and bottom, the pants kinda suck though lol, only a thin drawstring around the waist and zero give or taper in the ass area.
Im pretty sure desert night camo has 3 camps of people: those who love it, those who hate it, and those who don't know what the F#&% you're talking about lol. Helikon needs to hire Bruce as a model too. 🤙
@@Growmechanic I'm not sure what you're looking at but this is the link to the Wolfhound hoodie in the description box of this video: www.helikon-tex.com/en_eur/ku-wlh-nl-wolfhound-hoodie-climashield-apex-67g.html
If I go to US store the picture changes sir. It’s in the other store just like the video. I click the link, it asks me US or Poland, I’m not sure either. I’ll find it. Great video by the way, as usual.
Have a pair of the pants and I must say I dislike them immensely. The Velcro closure is a no go, Velcro anything is a no go imo. The sizing is way off. They seem very European in sizing and form fitting cargo/utility pants defeats the purpose of cargo pants. If you have any muscular development stay away from these.
I don't know why they don't adjust the sizing, surely they have to deal with numerous returns from U.S. customers who think that its the same sizing as regular BDUs when they order.

The interior cloth flaps (behind the fly and sometimes the buttons on a shirt) are called a gas flap. Love my original parka... I had pockets sewn in.
Thanks
A brand called FFI makes a tactical style uniform like the ones that have the built-in kneepads in desert night Camo
Just ordered these in Tiger Stripe as my new hiking pants, can't wait to test them out.
The poncho-liner looked quite interesting. Thanks for the review.
Darn it.......now I have to buy ANOTHER Swagman Roll to go with all the other colors I own. Thanks, pard lol
I kid, I kid.
Frankly I just love the pattern. I wish there was some company that makes regular fatigues or kit with this pattern
This camouflage looks similar to the pattern used by the former East German Volksarmie. The East German pattern did not have the splotches and the grid squares were more rectangular.
Weird coincidence, just ordered some of this helikon tex gear in this pattern!
Nice!
I like the more in depth of the modern gear
They actually make that Wolfhound in a reversible desert night/choco chip hoodie
I had a couple of the small or medium sized parkas my uncle was issued. I used them as a kid for play and then later to cover my M249 or M240 when in a foxhole or turret.
Interesting.
If more companies can make DNC stuff, it will be cool.
I would buy 2 sets of DNC Combat shirts and BDUs
Good video as always marine
Thanks brother.
the night camo pullover hoodie by kommandostore is one of my favorite piece of clothing to wear, not a real piece of military surplus equipment, but just a regular hoodie with the exact camo pattern
It might still be effective against some of the low budget Amazon digital night vision devices.
Maybe, the "test" I did out in the desert with it against Gen 3 was just awful though. ha
sewing your own pockets into the overpants and parka is pretty easy.
I also have one of those night camo blanket/comforters
Nostalgia products lately
Hey man, the have changed the cut of the hood from the Swagmann Roll. Now it is much more round and much bigger, I think that is way better. The problem is you don't know what you are getting now unless you get one of the reversables. This is what I did in desert night/desert.
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
Helikon reinforcement knee pads slide in from a slit on the inner kneecap inside of the pants.
We love seeing Brent in skinny fit pants lol
Dang your not kidding those look tight on you! Can you even side straddle hop in those lol
The ladies appreciate my desert night pants.
Lol
LOL
Where do you find these camo models......I bet thats Bruce's department hahaha, another great video showing excellent products 👍
Awesome camo and video
Yes you're wrong, Urban Tactical Pants do have pockets for knee pads
The Adventure Tech is mega money now , like $500 a set over on eBay is what they are bidding up for them !
WOW! Not that I would ever sell mine but that is crazy!
I love that US desert night camo, pretty cool stuff. I was gonna ask if you know of anywhere that sells any designated multicam alpine pieces, not just the cover all’s but actual jackets and pants.
Can't say that I do.
I think you and me are triple souls...
Just bought The Swagman Roll in night camo for the same reasons...
At 18:07 , I was positive the elusive "Flying Squirrel Monk" had emerged from the forest!!
Or is it just me.....
the DNC is incredibly hard to find around my area
Good stuff.
helikon-tex is better than vertex... i'll fight over that statement.
I work at a textile mill and I'm able to grab a lot of different types of camo fabrics. I have so much idk what to do with it...
Excellent video. I wear a 36 waist in Levi's. Would you recommend the XL (W36) pants? Im 5' 8" and 180. Since i wear large Crye shirts, im guessing an XL for the combat shirt. Thanks
Yes size up.
@@Brent0331 thank you
Are they a poly cotton mix or straight synthetic? *edit My bad. Must've looked away quick when you flashed the construction labels.
Great video! Is that a Garmin GPS watch you are sporting in the video? If yes, what model Garmin? Thanks!
No, just a cheap regular wrist watch.
Got an Adventure Tech DNC top and bottom, the pants kinda suck though lol, only a thin drawstring around the waist and zero give or taper in the ass area.
I wonder how white phosphorus nvg will do with these
Im pretty sure desert night camo has 3 camps of people: those who love it, those who hate it, and those who don't know what the F#&% you're talking about lol.
Helikon needs to hire Bruce as a model too. 🤙
Ha very true!
Hello, do you have a video for Multicam Arid? I haven't seen much for the pattern on youtube.
No, not yet.
All too true about the euro sizes. Go at least one size up
Where can I get the hat?
Are they non-ir?
Can’t find this pattern on website!
I put links in the description box.
It takes me to site. But that jacket isn’t there. It has no hood on it now. And that camp pattern isn’t listed. I’ll look on Amazon.
@@Growmechanic Thanks
thicc
Have a pair of the pants and I must say I dislike them immensely. The Velcro closure is a no go, Velcro anything is a no go imo. The sizing is way off. They seem very European in sizing and form fitting cargo/utility pants defeats the purpose of cargo pants. If you have any muscular development stay away from these.
I don't know why they don't adjust the sizing, surely they have to deal with numerous returns from U.S. customers who think that its the same sizing as regular BDUs when they order.
Helikon isn’t worth a cent of my hard earned money. Literal airsoft tier junk.
