Mines were stolen off my Navigator last night and you’re correct, they are somewhat expensive to replace so I’m gonna purchase all four and try your method and see if it will deter these creep as- thieves
Thanks I just lost all 4 center caps on my 05 DeVille and bought some news but haven't put them on yet, now I'm can put them on and full Better about putting them on....
The days of center caps are over. I switched rims entirely. It only took me one time to lesrn after mine were snatched off my '05 Deville...and they only took two. I rode with 2 caps before I decided just two switch rims. Sounds expensive, but with research it wasn't.
I'm thinking it's probably all the Cadillac owners whose hubcaps have been stolen going and still in other hubcaps!, 😁 I just bought a brand new Escalade well it was brand new for me in nine days later all four of my hubcaps got stole.
THE CABLES HAVE BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS AND I HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES MANY TIMES AND SEE NO DAMAGE ALONG WITH NO TORQUE ISSUES. YES, THEY CAN CUT THE CABLES BUT MOST THIEVES THAT TAKE CENTER CAPS ARE FOR THEIR OWN VEHICLE OR TO RESELL AND DO NOT EXPECT A CABLE TO BE ATTACHED AND EVEN IF THEY HAVE CUTTERS ANY TYPE OF DELAY WILL HINDER THEM. THANK FOR YOUR CONCERN.
I make them long enough to allow the center cap to be out of the way for removing lug nuts but not to long as to be a problem putting center cap back on.
MY TIRES HAD NO BALANCE ISSUES. I WOULD START WITH A BALANCED TIRE. I ROTATE AND BALANCE MY TIRES AT EVERY OIL CHANGE (EVERY 5000 MILES) THE TIRES LAST LONGER AND FRONT ALIGNMENT EVERY 3RD OIL CHANGE OR IF I NOTICE SOME PULLING RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT. MAKE SURE YOUR TIRE PRESSURE IS GOOD FIRST (TIRE PRESSURE IS LOCATED ON DOOR JAM AND ON TIRE ITSELF. HOPE THIS HELPED!
IT WORKS NO-ONE HAS TAKEN THEN YET HAD A FEW ATTEMPTS. NOW I KEEP A RUBBER MALLET IN THE TRUCK SO I CAN PUT THEM BACK ON I JUST WISH I HAD A VIDEO OF THEM TRYING TO STEAL THEM LOL!
I just bought a 4 piece set of central cap (Chines cheaper version) for $65 but they seem to a a tad larger then OEM, may be 2-3mm and wont fit..... How I hat to see this happen that is double thieves.
My center caps new cost $200 each. I have had 5 stolen to date. Now, to prevent theft, I'm forced to remove the caps every time I park. It sucks too. I have a very rare car (less than 70 registered in my state for all model years), and I would like to be able to afford youngsters unfamiliar with my car to see it in all its glory. Those days are gone. btw, this trick won't work. The thief will return with all the tools necessary to get the job done next time, and you won't suspect a thing until they're gone. Heck where I live, you can't even keep your tag on your motorcycle. Mine has been stolen 3 times in as many years.
Sorry to hear this will not work. Keep in mind it will not prevent them from stealing them but to slow them down if a thief wants something eventually they will succeed catching then is the best deterrent. If they been stolen that many times it maybe the same person. I would suggest gluing a gps tracker to the inside this would be a larger investment but if it catches the theif might be worth it. Good luck. Please let me know if you catch them.
lack of air cap should not do a harm as it has a little protection against debris getting in but otherwise not much in therm of losing air. You must have had some other issue with your tire.
They don't keep getting stolen they just fall off. If they were to be stolen the whole set would be gone but it's just one so they don't get stolen they just fall off😡
they don’t fall unless the clips are all fucked up .on my silverado they’re pretty tough to come off i bent my key trying it so i used a screwdriver instead & i had to bend back my key 💀
All four of mine fallen at the same time? Noopeeee. Its LA and natural conditions (Thieves) are more likely than abnormal catastrophic event such as "Fall off"!
THANK YOU!
Second time now for my caps to be stolen!🤯🤬
Doing this!
Appreciate you taking the time to do this video!
I'm glad to help. If you are in the Orlando Florida or Baltimore Maryland area I would be happy to help you install cables. All the best.
Thank you for the video this is such a irritating problem to have
What a great Idea I'm going to do this to my center caps.

You gonna get left with ring and that line lmao
'89 Fleetwood Brougham. Will consider this. Thank you.
Thank you for this video…. I’m try this on my Chevy caprice hubcaps.. better then drilling a hole threw them … thank u
Sooooooo freaking clever.... My caps got stolen & I needed this idea
Great Video Mate, Greetings from Poland
July 4th! 2019? It still holding up?
Good stuff sir
can they pull the ring off?
yes
Omw to the hardware store, thanks!!!
Getting some expensive wheels and caps so i hope this works
Good idea I am going to try this

i,m gonna try this on my chrysler minivan, thanks for the idea
Any way you cut it, the steel cable would damage the seat on wheel and also not likely it would stay torqued

Mine stolen too,
Do you think I would be able to apply E6000 Glue
Instead or would that hinder wheel replacement ?
Never tried glue let me know how it goes
Awesome idea
Did it work?
You sure they get stolen and not fall off? I literally watched the one fall of my when the guy went to test for alignment today.
if they steal the caps again, they'll have to use it without the ring, and it'll fall off haha.
aaaagh, just got mine snatched
You should install cameras too!
I can do a video for that soon. Car cam or house cam?
Great idea , but that won't work with my VW center caps because they're much smaller and my wheel nuts are exposed.
How long is the 1/16 cable for each center cap? about 1/2 a foot?
I make them long enough to allow the center cap to be out of the way for removing lug nuts but not to long as to be a problem putting center cap back on.
My only concern with your system is: Won't your tire go out of balance this way, considering the extra weight, asymmetrically.
MY TIRES HAD NO BALANCE ISSUES. I WOULD START WITH A BALANCED TIRE. I ROTATE AND BALANCE MY TIRES AT EVERY OIL CHANGE (EVERY 5000 MILES)
THE TIRES LAST LONGER AND FRONT ALIGNMENT EVERY 3RD OIL CHANGE OR IF I NOTICE SOME PULLING RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT. MAKE SURE YOUR TIRE PRESSURE IS GOOD FIRST (TIRE PRESSURE IS LOCATED ON DOOR JAM AND ON TIRE ITSELF. HOPE THIS HELPED!

LOL!
update bro?
Ok so did this work?
Curious if your caps are still on?
Still in
Still on

well, did it work?
yes they are still on
@@raymartin2659 im going to try this will fullsize hubcaps on my car, theyre metal and old so this trick seems pretty good
Ima try this
Sad people got to steal.. ghetto if u can't afford the vehicle don't own it..
Cooooooool
Silicone will hold pretty tight
I only had two of my hubcaps stolen idk why?
Did you use the cable to hold them on?
He'd be better off putting a small siren attachment and when pulled...it'll go off.
Man flying on the freeway and come lose you going mess up you wheel
THEY GONNA TAKE YOUR CAP AND LEAVE THE RING
The ones your buying used are the same ones that are stolen from u😂🤦🏽♂️
I buy them from used auto part salvage yards
My air cap got stolen the other day and I ended up with a flat tire on the side of the highway...
lack of air cap should not do a harm as it has a little protection against debris getting in but otherwise not much in therm of losing air. You must have had some other issue with your tire.
Pay the extra 10 bucks for locking lugs man! Dont cheap out. I can easily take these in under 1 minute!
You cable is way to long install the cable where you have to spend the center cap to get to the lug nuts.
I had shorter cable it prevented me form set cap back on securely. Thanks
I would think by the time you found they had come loose, the turning of the wheel would beat this thing so bad you would wish it had flown off
You will just annoy the thief who will probably take it out of some other part of the car like kicking in a panel.
They don't keep getting stolen they just fall off. If they were to be stolen the whole set would be gone but it's just one so they don't get stolen they just fall off😡
Keep falling off? Is it on the same wheel?
They dont keep getting stolen they just fall off
Nope. Stolen. As simple as that.
@@samsen201 yeah they are sometimes stolen but a lot of the time they fall off
they don’t fall unless the clips are all fucked up .on my silverado they’re pretty tough to come off i bent my key trying it so i used a screwdriver instead & i had to bend back my key 💀
Fishing line or wire much easy,,
They'll cut it stupid
I was going to use fishing line /wire my concern is they could cut it with a pocket knife or just a hard pull?
Not stolen they just fall off
All four of mine fallen at the same time? Noopeeee. Its LA and natural conditions (Thieves) are more likely than abnormal catastrophic event such as "Fall off"!
lol thats why you dont ride in cadiliacs, those tend to get stolen from the most
Actually it happens to all makes and models it's a shame people feel they have entitlement to your property by stealing it.
