The line "All you all rappers should be thankful I'm an idol" means that the rappers are lucky that Suga's full-time focus isn't rapping, but that he's a K-Pop idol with BTS. If he were a full-time rapper, he'd mop the floor with them/they wouldn't stand a chance. I love his savageness lol.

So Agust D’s name is just Suga’s name backwards plus his old hip hop crew D-Town. He grew up in Daegu, so that’s where the D comes from when he says “I’m a D boy because I’m from the D”. He says this in other BTS songs. The biggest example is their song “Ma City” where they all talk about the city they came from

i think yoongi said he hated The Last for a long time but now he's ok with it. even if he still has his down moments (we don't know but fairly speaking everyone does) he has healed a lot judging by his recent interviews
Suga was asked what he feels about creating music that is so honest and raw about his pains and sufferings. Suga's answer: "it wasn't that difficult. Because we work on music a lot, we have many songs out there. So when we work on our individual projects, we always think about what to talk about. Now that we look back at those experiences, we feel thankful, because they enable us to tell various stories. And the things that used to be painful to recall. are not anymore, because releasing music also helps alleviate that emotion. For me it has been helpful. Many people are living with their traumatic memories, but i'm sure the moment will come when they overcome that. And i also think you need to go through the process where you organize these emotions. And for me, one of that process is releasing music"
there's also this piece from another interview:
“I think I’m happier now,” he confides. “I’ve realized that happiness doesn’t require much, and it can be quite simple. I used to think material things would give me happiness, and I worked hard to achieve them. But when I succeeded, I wasn’t so sure anymore. I don’t have many earthly desires anyway,” he says with a laugh. “Perhaps it’s because I now know that material things no longer give me great satisfaction. So now, I try to find happiness in simple things, such as getting up early in the morning and having decaf coffee. I’m glad I’ve finally got to experience this kind of joy. What I lost would be being ordinary. Your ordinary is my extraordinary, right? But I think time will solve this issue.”
The Last is from his first mixtape. You can see that he has changed a lot since then by this quote of him:
“My first mixtape was all about anger, but then everything was sorted out, right?” SUGA explains with a laugh. “I realized that I didn’t know who to be angry with anymore. Finally, I was able to look at myself. I’d been making a weapon out of anger and a sense of inferiority, but around 2018, my self-destructive rage slowly started to subside. I realized that I couldn’t channel creative energy through only those sorts of emotions any longer.”
and now a recommendation for future yoongi's music reaction is his song People from second mixtape
“‘People’ is my favorite song as well,” SUGA says. “Because it’s a record of four years of my life. I set aside most songs after they’re done, but I find myself relistening to ‘People’ all the time, and I experience different emotions each time I hear it. It’s a song I put on mostly when I’m feeling lonely and sentimental.”

when yoongi mentions pill-poppers in daechwita what he means are “wannabe” rappers who shit on him for being an idol as if that means he traded his artistry for money (which is bullshit) while all they rap about is taking drugs and glamorizing them to be cool. one of the songs on the mixtape actually talks about losing a friend to drug addiction. he’s always been very open about mental health and he actually wants to become a counselor to help other struggling mentally

As most ARMY know Suga has suffered for many years with depression, anxiety and compulsion/obsession. After his panic attack had canceled the concert in Kobe, that he was refering to in "The Last", Suga went back to the venue when it was empty to reflect, he then had a short break , and wrote a long letter for ARMY (translation below) ...
Hello, this is Suga. Many people were curious as to what I was doing on my break, and to simply put it, I walked a lot, slept a lot and thought a lot. I wanted to go on a trip to organize my thoughts before working on my mixtape. I also had a place I must go to. I wanted to do things I was able to do not as a 22-year old BTS’ Suga, but as a 22-year old Min Yoongi. It was a time where I looked back at myself. The things I will say now are things I wanted to share not as a singer to a fan or as BTS to ARMY, but to talk to you as human to human.
I've always wanted to be a cool person to a lot of people. Having rational thoughts and making rational decisions in any situations. I wanted to live like my father. My father said to take a look around you when there's something to be happy about. Be calm and make rational decisions when happy. The first day when "I need u" got 1st place, I took a look at my surroundings. Every minute I'm happy, I acted as if I'm not. When I'm sad I acted as if I'm not. Even if I like it, I acted as if I don't like it. I pretended to be cold-hearted and pretended to be strong. If a joy is shared, it will be doubled but if a sadness is shared, it won't get smaller. That's what I thought. I know I'm a person who's bad at expressing my emotions but I've been living that way and I thought it's right.
One day, I can't exactly remember when, I was in a car with my father and he said "Yoongi, don't live like me". The first day of vacation. The first day ever since I was born, I drank with my family. It has been 6 years since I left home. We were all just chatting, listening to stories that we haven't heard of. The strong and cool father that I know, knows how to feel hurt and sad, how to feel happy and love..
1.5-pyeong in the practice room, my studio is my wide meadows and narrow prison. I can do anything and at the same time, I can't really do anything. I can work on music thoughtlessly for 20 hours, but I can also sit there and not do anything but just thinking for 20 hours. I was 11 years old when I first started writing my own lyrics. When I listen to good music, I will feel really excited and I feel really happy more than anything.
To me, music is my hope and my happiness, I also want to be someone's hope and happiness. Actually I'm someone who would just walk away rather to crash and feel pain. Anyone hates being hurt and I don't want to get hurt. In "Nevermind", "If you feel like you a going to crash then accelerate more". Perharps, that's actually what I wanted to say to myself. The most upsetting time for me when I face a large number of people, is when I face myself who isn’t able to be fair to everyone. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, but there are times I couldn’t do that. I think I’m still a person that lacks in many things.
The second day of the concert in Kobe... I don’t think I’ve ever slept deeply after that day. Could it be because of the fact that I gave a wound to many people? Whenever I fell asleep, I would wake up with cold sweat. Because I already once have not been able to go on stage before and have hurt many people, I said that I’ll go up (to perform) no matter what situation arises. Everyone tried to stop me. I really cried a ton at the situation of not being able to go up on stage. And I know crying is losing. It’s really easy for me to cope with my own sorrow, but witnessing those who love me in sadness is very hard. I made them sad, once again. If I could go back to that day, I would go on stage no matter what. So there was just one place to go.
I went to Kobe during my break. Many people tried to stop me from going, but I didn’t want to be ashamed of myself any longer. So I just went to Kobe without planning. It was my second time visiting the concert venue after a concert. The first was Ax Hall at late night after finishing the first Red Bullet concert. The second time was the Kobe World Memorial Hall, at where I failed to perform. I hate becoming a numb person. I didn’t want to take the love and these glorious days for granted. I didn’t want to be a numb person. That’s why I visited the venues again on my own.
(T/N: He’s saying he doesn’t want to take all the love he’s receiving as granted, he really wants to appreciate every single love he gets. He’s meaning numb in the way by how he wouldn’t be able to feel what the fans feel about him. He’s basically saying he wants to appreciate every love he gets from his fans)
I liked being on stage, and I still do. When I was 15 and performed in front of 2 people I stood proudly and made eye contact with them during my performance. However after my debut I feel that I have not been righteous towards myself. I think it may be because I knew better than anyone that I wasn’t perfect. And then on the day of the first performance of HYYH on stage I made proud eye contact with the audience that I didn’t do in quite a while. But after the second day of the Kobe concert when I was unable to stand on stage, I didn’t have the courage to confidently confront the large number of people. So that’s why I visited Kobe, the concert hall again.
I kept wandering around the area by the concert hall from the time I arrived there until the time our performance was due to begin that day. From the ticketing booth to the entrance and the concert hall - I wanted to feel the same emotions as you all from every nook and corner. I felt many emotions. Happiness, the excited nervousness felt while waiting for the performance, sadness, resentment, anger, regret, etc. I wanted to understand you all, and I do understand. So I’m sorry and apologetic, for I am not a perfect human being. I’m a person who is weak but acts strong.
Once again I realized that I was a person who’s lacking. Although I’m not religious, I prayed at that place. After all, at the end, it was a fated day. Even if it’s ended, let’s not let this heart become numb. To me, who wanted to spend every moment alone, you all were taking up quite a large part (of my mind). Age and gender, nationality and religion, what language you use - all of that isn’t important. "Whether you're young or old, whether you have a hidden child, It doesn't matter", haven't I said this already. That day, we unexpectedly had a Music Bank broadcast and I boarded a plane and returned a day before planned. I returned after organizing my many thoughts.
Once again, while feeling that I’m a blessed person, I felt that I need to be a person who lives every moment feeling thankful. This is the moment I realizied the fact that 22-year old Min Yoongi, who hates being an adult, is standing in front of the threshold to being an adult. Thank you for making me a blessed person, ARMY. Although I’m never able to say this because I’m bad at expressing myself. Here I am conveying my feelings and thoughts once more through a piece of less-than-satisfactory writing. I will live while being thankful of every moment as I am such a lacking human being.
    I love you, ARMY.

RM & SUGA got a lot of heat for being in a kpop group by other Korean rappers and Korean hip hop fans. Though the problem isn’t as big as it used to be, rappers used to look down on kpop rappers because they assume that the only reason that they ARE a rapper in their group is because they can’t sing. Either that or they’d think that they become sell outs for joining a kpop group
When Agust D says, “you’re lucky I’m a kpop idol” he’s basically dissing other rappers saying that if he were simply a Korean rapper, he’d be at the top, and they’d be beneath him, therefore they’re lucky that he isn’t in the same genre as they are.
the label “kpop rapper” was often used to kind of put down rappers in the kpop industry, like they don’t take them seriously
As a fan of Korean hip hop, I will say that many people don’t feel the way that they used to thanks to idols like Bobby from iKON who won season 3 of a Korean rap competitive reality TV show called Show Me The Money. BTS are also now highly respected but ofc that wasn’t the case when they first debuted.
Many Korean hip hop artists now actually collaborate with kpop idols like Kid Milli who has a song with Taemin, Wonstein who has a song with Taeyong & D.O, Mudd the student & Bobby have a song, and now even RM featured on a track by khh artists.
Not to mention SUGA produced a song for Epik High, a Korean rap group that debuted in 2003 with their album “Map of the Soul”. The rappers of BTS take a lot of inspiration from them. Suga also wanted to become a rapper after listening to them. Epik High is tied for my favorite Korean hip hop artists so I was very happy when all that happened 💖

And SUGA and RM were in the underground rapping long before they signed on with BigHit. They (all members) did literally give up their youth for this success we now see. I'm not saying they did it unknowingly or unwillingly, but they were young. I feel like if Yoongi had been in a situation that was less nurturing of his talent and voice, he could have gone a totally different way. He was in a situation where he had his 6 brothers around him to listen and empathize, and he was in a company that gave him room to speak on the things he felt in a way that may have helped him process what he was going through. The Last and First Love are two songs of his that I can never get through without crying. The way he approaches the rap as more of a spoken word poem so that you feel everything along with him is one of the reasons why he's one of my biases.

Thanks for reacting to Yoongi´s solos:-)
The guy has become my ultimate bias almost three years ago and nobody would be able to knock him down from his spot, ever. When a core substance of his gets under your skin, there is no turning back, he is here to stay. Words can´t describe how much I love this guy. When people describe their faves, words like talented, handsome, cute, sexy, attractive funny, sweet, adorable come to word play. When I describe mine I usually say " I have never respected or admired another artist in my life more than I do with Suga". For me personally, he represents everything I honor and value most. Its not about fickle stuff that fades away with time, its about what he brings in that builds you and makes you stronger, something you can be proud of. Its a totally another level of connection with him. And his courage is something that astonishes me every time I think about him and his artistry.
No matter what Yoongi puts out, and no matter how viby and cheerful melody cane be ( like in case of Seesaw), its always deeper and darker than Mariana trench but you never drown in it, you never get lost in that darkness. It demolished you ( emotionally), yes, but then it rebuilds you back to hope and some semblance of positivity. He is so raw, honest and real, it hurts when you listen to what he has to say, but it makes sense, it is relatable and its healing. I low key loath cute, cheerful superficial sugary tunes so yeah, Suga is my man. He is not for everyone but for those who found him in a time of need, he becomes irreplaceable.

It’s interesting listening to The Last (2016) and Shadow (2020) together, they are 4 year apart but have the same theme. 2016 was only the beginning for BTS, at the time SUGA didn’t know that that same year they would win the biggest awards in kpop and that the next year, thanks to them winning Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, their success would skyrocket in the west too, and since then it never stopped. If we think about it, it’s really scary. Like he said, “the shadow gets darker as that light gets brighter”, there’s a price to pay (privacy and freedom of being yourself, mostly) if you want to succeed in the entertainment industry. I really admire BTS for being so honest, especially in an industry that wants the idols to be this perfect being without flaws.

I am sure how you were feeling at 19/20 is way different to how you were feeling at 26/27. We have to keep this in mind as we watch BTS content that spans over 10 years. I felt Suga's first mixtape was a clap back at being humiliated and disrespected for no reason and D-2 is much more introspective showing his maturity and he didn't need to revisit those feelings. I mean, he (and BTS) have nothing else to prove at this point. The only challenge they have is with themselves at this point.💜

All 3 rappers in BTS are incredible rappers and lyricists and producers, and it's so interesting to see how different they are despite being in the same group and having spent so many of their formative years together. I find Suga's lyrics to be the rawest, almost to the point of being uncomfortable; they force you to look at and think about things you may not necessarily want to give attention to.
    Just a few comments:
    - The "from D" that Suga referenced in Agust D is Daegu, which is his hometown. AGUST D = DT (Daegu town) SUGA backwards. As you said at the end, this song is basically his calling card introducing himself as a solo rapper.
    - The line where he's saying that the "fried rappers should be thankful that he's an idol" is probably my favourite in the song. It's basically clapping back at the nay-saying underground rappers who disowned Suga and RM from the underground scene when they became idols, saying that they sold out. Suga's saying that the underground rappers are lucky that he's not still considered one of them because he would've been so good that the other rappers would've been overshadowed by him and not have had the opportunity to make a name for themselves.
    - My understanding of the word "daechwita" is that it's music that used to be played to announce the presence of royalty, so in the first line he's basically saying, "Play the royal music loud, as I (the king) have arrived."
    - Btw Jin and Jungkook cameo-ed in the first part of Daechwita, it's pretty hilarious!
    - Lol yes that was a bowing person he stepped on - I believe he was pretty apologetic about it afterwards 😂
    - Yes, his sword dance bit is pretty amazingl! There's a behind-the-scenes clip of him learning that choreography which is very cool to watch.
    - The Last is some heavy stuff, possibly the darkest song of his. However, that final verse ends surprisingly hopefully, with him stating that he's in a better place and all his dreams of performing at massive stadiums are coming true.
    - I think your interpretation of Shadow was pretty spot-on! My takeaway from that ending switch-up is that his shadow is telling him that darkness comes hand-in-hand with light, and he has to accept the reality he won't be able to stand in the spotlight on the stage without enduring some of the negative aspects as well.
Sorry, this ended up being a much longer comment than I planned ... Loving your reactions so far!

The "All you rappers should be thankful I'm idol" line was said because other rappers mocked him and RM for leaving the underground rap scene to become idols who wear makeup to go on stage and they called that being a girl. So yeah he said that they should be thankful he became an idol or else they wouldn't stand a chance against him in the underground rap scene .

    Hi RJ. 👋🏼
I love all of the songs that you listened to, but you definitely picked a heavy playlist. 😅
Please check out "Moonlight" and "People". Looking forward to "First Love" and "Seesaw"; just the fact that these two songs will for sure be included in the next SUGA video, means that it will be way less dark. Lol.
"The Last" is from his first mixtape that was released in 2016, and he talks about a lot of things that he was going through, both mentally and physically. I could write an entire essay on it in this comment, but I'll restrain myself. Just know that he went through a lot, they all did, but SUGA really speaks on his personal struggles. If you have the time, it's worth looking into in a deeper level. From what we're shown, he's doing much better now. 💜
Also, in "Daechwita", at 09:28, the guy SUGA bumps into is Jin, and him and JK get into a "fight". 😂 Just a little cameo easter egg.
Thank you for the react. Looking forward to your next video. 💜

Second comment becase the first was too long laksjdlkajs SORYY!
The concert situation refers to a real event. He couldn't force himself to perform and had a bad anxiety attack during a Kobe concert. There's a letter Yoongi wrote for ARMY and everyone explaining his situation at the time. This event is what triggered the release of his first mixtape.
“The doctors asked me____, I said unhesitatingly that I have done it before."
The part that has "bleep" on it, It means that the doctor asked if Suga committed attempted/has thought of committing suicide. The part where he mentioned memories about lying on the bathroom floor was a reference for attempting suicide according to K-ARMY.
"Min Yoongi was dead. (I killed him)"
It is music which saved Yoongi and it is also music which Yoongi lives for.
Yoongi had the hardest life (pre-debut) out of all the members. At 13, he started writing lyrics and learned MIDI by himself. His first love is the piano or music in general. (He made a song about his piano entitled "First Love") who he described as his only friend when he was a kid. His parents didn't support his passion for music. They were not financially stable and were being practical so they would even throw his lyrics to discourage him but Suga would sneakily continue to do it.
"As for me...[my parents] were very much against [me becoming a rapper] to make me reconsider [my choice], they hit [me] and fought, and things like this... so I made music [under those circumstances].
In his hometown, he used to work as a studio engineer while composing and performing in front of small crowds, ( he was part of the hip-hop group called D-town then where he was one of the youngest). He worked part time at the music studio and was underpaid, so he had to sell his songs but often got scammed people didn't pay him. He said his parents never saw him perform back then, which is why he once broke down at a concern when he saw his parents there. He had only one supporter at that time, his older brother, to whom he would show his songs.
He saw an audition poster (From Bighit) of a rap competition on which he participated and won 2nd place. At the semi-finals, participants were asked to perform to the same beat and write own lyrics but Suga modified the beat, not just wrote the lyrics which made him stood out. He was scouted later on. He was the only member who was already an established producer before becoming part of BTS. Suga went to Seoul to pursue music at 17. Imagine pursuing your dream where no one believes in you aside from your older brother. Where everyone told you that if you pursue music, you'll make your family broke.
When asked if his parents eventually gave him permission to make music and Suga replies "Well...before giving me permission, I was already out and about doing music."
He struggled financially even when he finally got to Seoul and admitted that before, he would have to choose between buying two dollar noodles or using his money to take a bus home (he will always choose to starve ). On a Wings concept interview he said that in the past, he had struggled to afford three meals a day.
Q: What happened in the past?"
    - "I couldn't eat three meals a day It was hard"
    - "When I was working in the studio, I arranged songs or made beats and even sold them. Then I naturally started to rap and did performances"
Q: How much did you earn?
    -"Nothing."
Q: You said you were working though.
    - "That’s what it was like to work there. Usually we don’t have any income. Working in the studio, it was difficult to pay for food and transport. In front of the studio, there was a Chinese restaurant that sells Jajangmyeon for 2,000 won, if I walk down further, there was a place that sells Janchi guksu for 1,000 won. I worried about it everyday. If I eat the 1,000 won Janchi guksu, I could get the bus and if I eat the 2,000 won Jajangmyeon, I’d have to walk 2 hours to get home. Even though it was tough, I want to make music so I endured it."
At the time, his parents couldn't financially support him and struggled with helping him pay his university tuition because they were not well off. That's why Yoongi worked part time jobs as well (at dawn ) while maintaining going to school ( at different times and will end up sleeping most of time because he was tired) and practicing as a trainee at BigHit (at night). He also used to buy lottery tickets weekly because he was that desperate .
Some of his part-time jobs were as a convenience store clerk, composing and MIDI teacher, and another as a delivery boy... which is how he got into an accident (2012, pre-debut) and his shoulder shattered. He didn't tell anyone, afraid the company would kick him out, that's why his shoulder didn't heal right. This shoulder injury became something that he struggled with for 9 years. He told the members that he just fell down the stairs. Eventually, the company found out about this injury and paid his college tuition and hospital fees. It was surprising considering that the company were facing an almost "bankruptcy" at that time. Suga told the truth about the accident to the members 2018 on "Burn the Stage" series. It is also where he recalled that the last thing he remembered before the accident was the "wheel" in front of him.
It's one of the factors as to why his mental health issues worsened. He has been quite open about his depression, social anxiety and OCD.
He'd been suffering for almost a decade because of that injury that didn't heal right. It even came to a point that it became a hindrance to his everyday life and he had to get injections for the swelling and the pain quite frequently so he could still perform. His shoulder often got dislocated as well.He once said in an interview that when he tried to lift a 50ml bottle when they were filming a commercial, his shoulder hurt. Suga, underwent surgery in November 2020 to heal his shoulder, is his decision because he want to be able to continuously perform on stage. BTS dance choreographies are no joke and if you watch them perform, you wouldn't think that Suga had a chronic condition that constantly caused him pain. I can't imagine how he managed to perform despite of that. If he hadn't talked about it, fans wouldn't have known that his old injury was constantly acting up. This is only a part of his hardships. He really had gone through so much shit to get where he is at right now. No wonder he is so independent. Maybe it is why he is so used to carrying his burdens alone.
"Bang PD-nim told me I've become much brighter after releasing my mixtape (in reference to the letter and how he released his first mixtape as a way to let out toxic emotions). He even asked me where the indecisive person full of wrath from before had gone. It was my complex and the way to solve it was music that I need to make"
Agust D is Yoongi's way of healing himself and also healing people who also has struggles and is feeling hopeless. He also studies psychology because of this.
At the end of The Last, Suga assures his audience that he has since been in a better state. Fast-forward to their interview with Zach Sang, Suga now says, “there is no growth without pain.” Though pain and struggle is inevitable, we will grow the most through it.

Daechwita is basically what you said looked up. 2 versions of himself.
Also in a split second you could see Jin and Jungkook in the back. The appeared they were the ones who fought behind suga lol
The Last... you can definelty here his pain. What he suffered.. hebsaid he cried recording this song.

Hmmm I dunno but I have learned to look at Kpop as an industry rather than something of a genre or kind of music. Like the guys have said it's best understood as integrated content so a mix of music styles/genres, incorporated with the thematic aesthetics, so the looks, the choreo, all together as one all encompassing package. Like you said, Kpop does mesh genres. And if you look at BTS, they practically do everything.
As for Kpop as a box, I think this is since oftentimes, most, commonly in the west, the term is used to "other" them. Just like how award shows created a "Kpop" category to keep them out of the main category awards. Unfortunately a lot of people use the term "Kpop" in a negative way. Like in sk it's common for there to be a different acceptance between "artist" and "idol" so again that's another way Kpop is used as a box to belittle them. And going back to the west, let's just put it that MY universe the BTS Collab with Coldplay was considered Kpop. Girl of my dreams, the BTS Suga Collab with juice world was again placed under Kpop. BUTTER and Dynamite, English pop songs again we're forced under Kpop. This is what I guess I mean as being othered. Just because it's a Korean artist/ or sung/rapped in Korean, is enough for the western industry to box them and not let the music compete in their real categories. Honestly the AMAs was such a breakthrough. I'm still in shock that BTS won artist of the year. So happy for them.

Aaaah we arrive at my bias’ episode. I lolled when you heard the first a-to the g to the u to the std, I’m d-boy cos I’m from D 😂 he’s telling us about South Korea like a proper ambassador! These mixtapes (RM & Mono, Agust D and D2, and Hopeworld are their literal mixtapes, SUGA explains in an interview a mixtape is what young aspiring rappers would send out to labels to show what they’re capable of in hopes of a record deal so the BTS boys did the same just to show their rap skills outwith the BTS albums… and finally now in the hiatus they’re bringing out their first solo albums starting with j-hope Jack in the Box, and RM indigo next week! We’re calling SUGA’s D3 until we hear from the man himself…
SUGA was a rapper and producer as you remember from the intro vid from long before BTS, so when he says “you’re lucky I’m an idol” I take it to mean if he was allowed to be a full time rapper many other rappers would be out of a job!
I hope you watched the DKDKTV explanation video for daechwita it’s SO worth it because
SUGA layers his lyrics with historical references , Korean history and language puns with English that are so worth the time to investigate. It explains the people kneeling on the courtyard and the cutting of heads too. Whenever you can, deep dive into BTS lyrics and videos cos unlike most pop acts they not only write all their own stuff but they’re lyricists who were hired by Big Hit and made into idols rather than cute teens who were taught to sing so we get actual song writing depth and breadth that pulls in people of all ages and races, I love it. 💜

    Interlude: Shadow (SUGA)
    Outro: Ego (j-hope)
Persona, Shadow and Ego are archetypes based on theories by swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.
If you want to go really deep with interpretations, one could argue, that the archetypes here are chosen befitting their performer.
Also nice to note is, that these three songs sample the intros (iirc) from their school trilogy albums in reverse order.

The interesting thing about BTS is that they decided that if they wanted to do solo projects outside the group it didn’t have to interfere with the group activities. They could work with the Big Hit staff or outsiders, but they had to pay everything themselves. They used their free time to work on their mixtape, for example in their hotel room during a tour or during a break between albums. The priority was always the group but they could do their own thing in the meantime.
That’s changed this year, now the priority is the solo projects but if they have time they also do group activities, like the concert in Busan they’ll have in October. And the company takes care of everything but the members are just as involved as before. I don’t think it happens with other groups

Suga and RM came straight from the underground rap scene in Korea and when the joined BTS and Bighit they were critcised for 'selling out' and going commericial. The underground rap scene tends to see idol rappers as not making 'real music'

I think in Korea, it is in their culture that talking about mental health or depression is a big taboo. Not sure about now, but when SUGA released "The Last" back in 2016, it was quite a big thing for ARMYs because SUGA was very open about his mental health and the shit he went through, and yet still tried to cheer the fans up and said that "Im okay now". I think by then, the ARMY got more and more concerned and try our best to support each of the members. This was also a wake up call for most of the kpop industry because just a 2 years after, there was an unfortunate series of idols and celebrities that made a difficult choice in their lives and decided to end it.
I think this is why ARMYs and BTS have a really really really deep bond (especially the oldest fans from 2013-2016) because we saw them through the hardships they faced without certainty of the future (that was fortunately full of success for them) but we are really looking out for each other. Many ARMYs has started clubs and organizations in order to help out fellow ARMYs in their area and create stronger bonds and look after each other. It's all so meaningful. Be prepared to witness more of BTS' deep and meaningful lyrics in your next reactions. Im excited!

I think Daechwita is also about how SUGA and BTS took over the old industry. They were the new rebel underdogs driving in with their car, disrupting the old ways, and with their hands tied behind their back and blindfolded they gained followers and fans and took over the ancient peeps.

I remember another rapper reacted to Agust D - Agust D and he interpreted the "A to the G to the U to the STD" means like once you get into Suga's rap or music, you cant get out of it anymore, just like STD like youve transmitted the Suga Transmitted Disease LMAO

SUGA is definitely in a happier place now. He actually spoke about this song, and said he hated it, but have come to like it now. When he asked why he wrote this song, his answer: I was trying to live. He is so happy now, and it's so nice to see.

I always took his line “all ya fried rappers should be thankful for I am an idol” about him talking to all the rappers who have to be high to write good songs to just sit down for a second haha. that’s just my take tho.

He is from Daegu Town (DT) . Agust D is DT Suga backwards. He is dissing his haters and he has a very sharpened tongue 🙂
Persona, Ego and Shadow are parts of Jung's Map of the Soul. In a very shallow definition, Persona is the image others have from us, Shadow is our inner dark (we have to learn how to accept/control it to be happy) and Ego is our real "me".

The line "All you all rappers should be thankful I'm an idol" is in response to S Korean underground rappers who in an open interview openly disparaged Suga and RM calling them "girls" for wearing makeup to go up on stage and deciding to become "idols" rather than remaining underground, unemployed, unsellable rappers like those guys.

Somehow, you managed to get two pairs of similar songs. Agust D/Daechwita, I think, are the diss+flex tracks on each of his mixtapes, and The Last/Shadow both share the theme of what's "behind the success" (The Last when his dreams where starting to come true, Shadow when he's already there and beyond)

Some more of my favorite Suga songs: first love, so far away ( the jk & Jin version is a must! This may be my absolute favorite Suga song) note- this song was played with first love in concert (it’s very beautiful), seesaw, intro:the most beautiful moment in life, people, and dear my friend. I’m glad you’re enjoying your BTS journey 💜💜💜

As I've interpreted it, in Interlude : Shadow, the shadow is speaking to him in the final chorus, telling him he can try to distance himself all he wants but it will never work. The Shadow represents things in ourselves that we dislike or have repressed due to them being not acceptable by society's standards, so they're not inherently dark or bad per se, but they can turn twisted and gnarled unless carefully untangled and dealt with. Map of The Soul deals with these theory of psychology created by Carl Jung, and it begins with the Persona or how you are portrayed to others and whatnot. Under all those other layers is the Shadow, which is often neglected and shunned because the traits pushed there are often 'undesirable' or whatnot. Once you overcome that, it's believed that your personalities such as the Persona, the Shadow, and the layers in between will meld to form the Ego, the finalized form of the human personality. That's why the comeback trailers are like that. It starts with Namjoon's Persona, Yoongi's Shadow and finishes with Hoseok's Ego.
The Last is a really dark song in terms of subject matter but I love it so much. It hurt to listen to the first few times but I've likely loved it from the minute I heard it.
Yoongi is a very interesting person, and the aspects of him that we know and that he's shown are what endear him to me. He shows us almost everything, even if it isn't pleasant and I respect that. The amount of respect I have for that man is insurmountable. A good video about Yoongi's personality I could recommend is here.

Yoongi’s raps are deeply personal to his story and experiences and therefore some lines won’t get unless you know his story and experiences but he’s relatable so you can use his experiences to help with your own.

a little explanation about the "should be thankful I'm an idol" the song agust d was a diss to some rappers who criticized suga (and RM) in one interview saying that they're "just" idols now and not rappers anymore (and also made homophobic comments saying that the boys are trying to be girls bc they wear makeup) so suga answers them saying that these "rappers" should be thankful that he's now an idol who doesn't only do rap cause if he were only focused on rapping and being a solo rapper he would take all the spotlight and these people would be flopped lol
