Good design, but unfortunately it misses the most important function: Mobility. It should walk and follow the user. Or walk in groups. But now it’s just a cool designed speaker.
Yeah or a pair of "real" speakers such as Yamaha/Behringer etc... not saying this as an insult but people tend to buy these consumer speakers that don't necessarily sound that good for their price when compared to traditional speakers.
I was always intrigued by this model. At the height of lockdown last year both the gaming earbuds and this speaker were passing through my crowdfund browsing quite often. I'm glad that your review is now available here to answer the questions about how it really is to use!
This will sell well if they give us two of these with same price as one. This is a good set up for gamers and use these as a stereo speaker cause it will look cool with all of that RGB.
The only conversation starter I get if I buy this are: 1.Were you high? 2.Srsly mate whats wrong with you? 3.We all do stupid things when we are drunk, you were drunk right? 4. Your not putting that in the living room thats for sure so you better have a plan B.
I actually got my mars pro and ear buds through an awesome deal via their kickstarter. So, I'm pretty pleased to see that the end product is turning out to be pretty good. I look forward to putting mine to the test and adding it to my gaming setup.
My reaction was the same as his at the end of the video -- it looks awesome, only wish that it would move and coordinate its lights with the music. Other than that, it's freaking amazing
Yeah, i'd like it to have a plugged power mode for desktop use :( For cable stereo system, can we use two 3.5mm jack-to-USB C cables and plug it into L/R audio splitter then connect it to DAC/AMP?
I like the color scheme of the war damaged yellow, but the body and accessories of the pro are cooler. Personally I'd love to just have a little robot that looks like this, but I don't really use Bluetooth speakers at all, so I'd feel bad buying this and not using it as a speaker...
The mid bass actually sounds like it's overdriving the the small sub. Not that it's exceeding what the voice coils can handle, but instead that the suspension (dust cover) isn't long enough to handle the full throw of the coil. It's hard to tell exactly over video, but if you listen to the sound every time you hear the kick drum it's there. You can tell it isn't a coil issue because it's when the actual lower frequency bass line comes in, it's perfectly clear with no distortion, just the punch of that kick drum where you can hear the throw bottom out. I also hate that 95% of the Bluetooth speaker market is mono, it's like we've gone back to pre-60's narrow sound. I mean, I get it, especially from a portability factor, but nearly all of my favorite Bluetooth speakers are full stereo setups, admittedly much larger and heavier than most people want. Stunning design, I love the look of this thing
Its very cool looking, but for me, sound quality is above all else. I use studio monitors as my speakers and I got the pair for less than the cost of 2 of these...
I like it quite a lot. I checked out Gravistar's other offerings as well. Unfortunately, almost all of them are more than I can afford (personal advice: avoid debt as much as possible, it becomes the weighted chain that drowns you.). I am curious about the ear buds though. Also, what corded Dolby 7.1 SRS over the ear head phones would everyone recommend. I'm tired of my old Logitech G930 loosing its wireless signal repeatedly. Start video or game, audio drops, pause video/game, 10 seconds later audio comes back, 1-5 minutes later repeat.
If I use the usb-c cable to hook the speaker to my usb 3 port on my PC will it charge and play sound through the cable at the same time if I don't have bluetooth on my PC? I'm not even sure my usb 3 port will send audio? I have my PC sound going to bass speaker using a 3.5mm cable which the bass box has right/left speaker out port which I was wanting to run to this speaker but with out 3.5mm aux in port how can I do this and charge it at the same time?
If I were the company, I would set up a gaming speaker setup deal: "Choose any two, they each come with charging cord, for $x". Sure we know we dont get the sound quality for that proposed sum, but for a gaming space, imagine the cool factor. I for one would have to do it! :D
I just want a normal, corded stereo speaker version of these for a computer. Alternatively, I could also see them selling these as a light. Another version where, instead of a speaker, the center is a nice, diffused color change light. EDIT: I know I could get two of these (for $600 mind you) for stereo, but I would zero intention to even use it as a portable speaker. So just sell me wired stereo for PC for a price that reflects it. Also, I want these guys to make other tech accessories. Imagine an external cellphone charger to match the aesthetic of the wireless earbuds?
This would work if you could have it customized for a certain video game unit or character. Star Wars stuff, Lord of the rings, starcraft. Or is this from something and I'm unfamiliar?
No, this is an absolute gimmick. I knew the second I saw their ad on my Instagram feed which is exactly where we all saw it. The "coolness" factor will wear off quickly until you're left with an over-priced speaker that's worst than others in the same price bracket. Hard pass.
pretty loud but it doesnt sound as good as the mars pro, funny that you should mention the gravastar venus is slightly louder then the mars pro but you have to realize mars pro is trying to recapture the entire sound spectrum the gravastar venus has 1 midrange speaker measuring 1.75 inches with a passive bass reflex, now the catch here is that its not a fullrange speaker its actually far from it what you have is 1 midrange speaker which is meant to capture sound from 250 hz to 2,000 hz this does not mean that if you play a sound lower then 250 hz it will not "come through" it WILL come through but at a significantly lower and lower and lower volume the farther down you get from 250 hz what does that mean for our little midrange speaker? well it means its not gonna handle the lower portions of the sound spectrum as well as the mars pro. The mars pro features a 2.5 inch full range speaker with a 1 inch tweeter, the smaller the tweeter the more accurate you can capture the high end, now technically speaking when you talk about "fullrange speaker" they are supposed to go from 20 hz to 20,000 hz that is full audible human spectrum but they are not required to go as low as 20hz it is currently unknown how low the mars pro speaker can go without rolling off on the volume until you cant hear it anymore or until the speaker can no longer produce the low frequecnies but it is very clear as day that a full range speaker can go lower then 250 hz which is what our gravastar venus is producing and if i had to take a guess the mars pro can produce down to as far as 40- 45 hz before rolling off, what does this mean? well it means that it can actually handle the entire lenght of a 4 string standard tuned Bass guitar (EADG) and it handles a 5 string bass pretty well this may be due to the passive bass reflex is actually helping the mars pro more then its helping the venus, so yes while the gravastar venus is louder then the mars pro, the mars pro is doing the work of god itself and that to many audiophiles including myself is worth far more then just volume, it doesnt matter how much volume you have in a speaker if that volume doesnt have quality to it youre just wheelspinning down the highway ;) I also noticed a bit more distortion in some songs with a gravastar venus a slightly bit more tiny sounding speaker it can barely make bass audible but it is what it is, dont believe me? you dont have to, cuz i know what i got, i know what i have, and most importantly, i know my ears
Hey bro i know this is a vid about speakers but i have a question about mice have u tested the hyper x haste mouse? if u have what are your thoughts on it?
I love it very much... I love the aesthetic.. however.. $350 is outrages for what it is. They should consider selling them without the speaker. More people would buy.
Looks amazing but for the cost it's just not worth picking up with 20w of output and a single midrange 2.5" driver, speakers are about the sound quality and for that price you can get a lot better
sorry i think you seem to misunderstand, this does not have a midrange speaker which can play frequencies from 250 hz to 2,000 hz what does have a midrange speaker is the gravastar venus which is the smaller brother of the gravastar mars pro, the mars pro has a 2.5 inch fullrange speaker with a 1 inch tweeter the smaller the tweeter the better higher frequency sound capture is, and for bass ive done a full test of it taking on 41 hz which is the exact frequency as an open E string on a bass guitar, which means it can handle the lowest note on a standard 4 string bass guitar without making me rip my hair off, the gravastar venus on the other hand sounds... well it sounds decent but not as good. Mars pro has a fullrange speaker not a midrange, dont be throwing out fake information
Oh man, maybe it looks awesome, but i would rather prefer to watching in action when things happens and need a actual setting to not let Bluetooth mess up channels and stuff
Doesn't doing the sound test with a curtain as backdrop misrepresent the use of this speaker cause it's designed to use the walls to bounce the sound around. I think for portable/room speakers would be better to walk a mic around a normal room to hear how it sounds in the use case it's designed for.
@@thenightninja13 Yeah but you can still get an idea of it if you have it compared vs similar speakers (similar style eg bluetooth small) in same location. I think someone looking at ones that cost this much would usually have semi decent headphones/speakers and not just stock buds so would be able to get something out of it more.
LMAO 🤣😆🤣😆 I want one just to give to my 75 year old neighbor who loves this stuff. I'm forwarding this video to him. Thank you for another AWESOME and informative video on this speaker, Ebert.

Party swarm mode! A small army of speakers follow you!
lol 😂
that’s coming in v2
It's gonna be like Anki Cozmo 👀
An d then it would cost several thousand.
Man, every time I use my 200$ sony buds I can't shake the thought "if only they had bottle opener"...
Good that the 200$ Sony's got the built-in crack pipe 😂
The design is cool and all, but $350 buys you ANY NUMBER of JBL, Anker, and Bose speakers with better sound quality
Yah, I bought a pair for $100 each back when they were first coming out. At that price they are worth it to me for sure.
Yeah or a pair of "real" speakers such as Yamaha/Behringer etc... not saying this as an insult but people tend to buy these consumer speakers that don't necessarily sound that good for their price when compared to traditional speakers.
Also reminds me of the appliances in Sam's house that transformed into miniature Decepticons in Transformers: Rise of the Fallen😂😅

I own a pair of the original gravastars. Got them back before they had a huge price increase. Still. They are awesome.
I was always intrigued by this model. At the height of lockdown last year both the gaming earbuds and this speaker were passing through my crowdfund browsing quite often. I'm glad that your review is now available here to answer the questions about how it really is to use!
Love the look of these, going to get two flanking either side of my monitor. So much more interesting than just normal looking speakers
So this speaker does not support the analog Audio Adapter Accessory Mode? Are you sure? The USB port says "USB" as well as "AUX".
This will sell well if they give us two of these with same price as one. This is a good set up for gamers and use these as a stereo speaker cause it will look cool with all of that RGB.

Nah thats all in your head
I've been looking at this speaker for two weeks you just convinced me to buy it immediately
What are your thoughts after a year with the speakers?
Cant find any info on Bluetooth Audio Codec support :( is it SBC? AAC? APT? APTX? LDAP?
The Robot reminds me from the movie Lost in Space :)

All I want from this is being able to pair 2 of them with a DAC/AMP for a desktop, that would be a dream come true, they look stunning!
Honestly, this looks pretty cool. It doesnt even look like a speaker, it looks like a model, that happens to come with a good speaker
Can you use the aux-cable if the battery is dead?
Want it to use for my PC as well.
