  • The inflatable boat has become a surprisingly versatile fishing platform, one of its main appeals being how relatively straight forward they are to set up and launch. The Kaboat from Maelstrom products really plays on the simplicity of transportation and set up. It has many characteristics of a traditional SIB but is better suited to nearshore tasks.
It would surprise a lot of people how good the fishing can be close to the rugged shoreline of Cornwall, especially in the summer months when so many predatory fish will smash a lure without hesitation. Being able to see the ground your fishing over makes the whole experience that bit more exciting.

Chinese outboards rarely give the advertised HP. 6HP should have you flying in that. Consider also getting a foil for the outboard, transom trim tabs, and 4 blade prop, and play around. You should not have issues planing ever with how light you’re running.

Hi mate, just bought a 450HD+ kaboat from Maelstrom products and a 6hp Honda BF6 from a local dealer.
First of all …..customer service really is second to none absolutely superb.
Personal call from Mike from Maelstrom telling me about the boats and to discuss exactly what I want to use the boat for, no pushy sales just great advice on what was best for me. I wanted something robust to go inshore fishing or up the local river with my kids. The HD+ version with extra underside protection was the best one for me.

Love your videos and great to see you back. Honestly I would be bricking it if I was on the open water with that.
However brainwave, put an outrigger of some sort gives extra space and the stability that craft desperately needs.
Please keep posting. As said really enjoy and appreciate the effort you go to.
    Cheers.

It’s actually reasonably stable! I might make it look a bit wobbly when standing up and that certainly takes some getting used to but sat in it or kneeling there is no feeling of instability. Thank you for the feedback.

These boats are very capable. There no need for an outrigger. Could use a little bit more storage though

Is it significantly easier to transport than an air deck 3.2m? Secondly can I ask do you personally go for auto or manual pfd? What a first fish!

It is a lot easier to transport than a SIB. It rolls into a much smaller package so will fit a smaller vehicle better, it’s also much lighter so the whole set up and transport to waters edge is a doddle. To give you an idea I can pick up the whole boat inflated using the grab lines and walk it down the slipway. I use an auto inflating life jacket, for me that peace of mind is important when I’m out solo

@@obanonthewater7796 Thanks. I'm guessing it's a bit like moving my gumotex kayak around then. I thought you might be manual when you were stood up in it 👍

Tailwalk boat gamer SSD, came across by chance in the art of fishing and it’s quickly become my favourite rod to the point where I’m using in situations I know I shouldn’t… it states a max casting weight of 9g so that gives you an idea of how light it is, It will happily cast double that though.
