Folks, that is a one wheel drive Tourist not a two wheel drive Patrol/Sportsman/Gear Up! Rider's name is Dustin...don't know of his mental state, but that looks perfectly same to me, but I also own a Ural (and 2 other sidecar rigs) so my mental state may be in question as well... Hope I see him at a rally or on the road one day just so I can shake his hand! Good job Dustin!
Not at all crazy. That motorcycle is a Ural from Russia. It has a drive shaft that connects to the wheel on the side car and is otherwise designed to ride on and off road in up to several feet of snow. There is no differential however, so speed is limited when the 2-wheel drive is engaged. The whole thing overall is not designed for speed. I believe the maximum speed is 65mph. Has a lot of torque though.

to be pedantic...mechanically it is a pre-1939 BMW design that the russians bought/stole from BMW that included the tooling. 8^) It is an interesting story how that came about.

I have ridden in Utah on 2 wheels in the Winter, What's so crazy about that?
this is not unusual at all for these Ural sidecar rigs. It'll go places you 4-wheel drive can't make it.
Fresh and "proper" snow is ok to ride on. Done it a lot of times. It's when its turned to ice that we get a problem.

BMW motorcycle it is father of Ural. Ural great motorcycle! But we dont forget our roots.
