Is this not profiting from tragedies?
I'm 5hinking most of these were expected and not that big of deal to me
@Braindeaddefault alot of people profit from tragedy I was in commercial cleaning, flood and fire damage buiness for years
The misinformation on the Capitol riot didn’t help.
I think you missed the 9.0 magnitude Japanese earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown from 03/2011.
西洋主義This video is so Westernized
Fukushima
Yes. Way more important than J6 🙄
‼️‼️‼️
I was going to say the same thing, there was also the Indian Ocean Tsunami on Boxing Day, 26th December 2004. That was the most widespread Tsunami the world has ever seen, stretching right across the entire width of the Indian Ocean, from Sumatra to Somalia, claiming over 250,000 lives
How is the Titan sub here but not the Japanese earthquake/tsunami that caused a meltdown?
Thats what i thought too!!!
Damn good point. Is the 2011 Super outbreak on here?
まじそれな
Almost as if there's an American media centric bias... In fairness i guess no one is capable of knowing EVERYTHING across the world.
Because this is a very AMERICAN 🇺🇸 list
Are you kidding me with this list? You put Jan 6 on here but forgot the Boston bombing, the Japan earthquake in 2008, or sandy hook give me a break.
Yeah this list is ridiculous. Sorta like the biased channel as a whole.
January 6th next to 9/11 the most surreal thing I've watched on live TV. The fact that a SITTING PRESIDENT, refused to accept election results, a hallmark of our democracy for 200+ years, is so implausible, that if it was a movie, I would find the plot ridiculous.
The fact that almost half of America is willing to vote for him against is frankly scary beyond measure.
Boston bombing wasn't real stunt people made that possible
Yeah sure 2 months elections = third world
@@Ras137 take an autism test
putting a little submarine that killed 5 ppl instead of the worst nuclear meltdown disaster in human history is absolutely wild
Nor did they mention Chernobyl
@@Scuffed_Gambit Chernobyl was in the 80's, they're talking about 2000s disasters, but yeah, this video was a fail for ignoring Fukushima Daiichi
I can’t believe Fukushima’s not on this list. I mean, that’s a glaring omission.
I agree 💯
Indeed! If an editorial decision had to be made, Fukushima was definitely a bigger event than a handful of millionaires dying in a submersible. That one could have been a road accident involving an SUV.
That was last century
@@batgurrl No, it was in 2011.
*This century.
Video title should definitely be "...that made America stand still..."
Really? because 5 out of 20 happened to be in America?... lmao yeah, you're on an American website, watching an American video, written by Americans, edited by Americans, narrated by an American, voted on by Americans, and watched by Americans. We run the world. The world depends on us and need us. Our economy goes into a recession, their economy goes into a recession. Their country runs into a problem, who do they turn to with their hand out? We are objectively the most important and consequential nation in the History of Earth. So yeah, when something happens here, it's a bigger deal than it happening in the middle east or BFE.
IKR 😅
Yes why they asumed US is the "world" news flash is not 😅
Dont talk rubbish. The towers falling was worldwide. It shaped the world we live in now. It was not just an American thing.
Well considering half of the things on this video didn’t happen in America that sure wouldn’t be a very accurate title
Titan, while tragic, shouldnt be on this list. Fukushima should.
You could argue that the 2008 financial crisis should be on this list. That event caused so much devastation across the world.
A recession always happens, so in 2008/2009 was bound to happen and it will happen again in some way shape or form.
@@kevinW826still way more memorable than the Titan Submersible
And honestly think that we never recovered from it. It's like the recession happened, and then the world just sank low to the bottom of the ocean.
How are you okay with admitting that?
And you’re still willing to live despite of that because…?
Surprised the Japan earthquake and tsunami of 2011 was not on this list.
It even brought most of the world together. Even years later, citizens from many countries still sent aid to Japan

Don’t get me wrong, I know the titan submersible was a huge tragedy. But I don’t think it was so significant that everyone will remember it 50 years from now. The longest reigning monarch dying, that will be in history books.
Right? My buddies in Africa haven't heard of it till I told them.
She was in her 90s. Was anyone really that shocked that she died?
@@jenniferferguson1517 not at all. But it was still a huge change. For a good majority of the UK, she was the only monarch they had known, and it was a big change. And her reign will probably hold the record for decades, if not longer.
What's the titan submersible. Before this video I haven't heard of it until now (is just watching the video now)
@@DaniXXX18 - My dad's lived through 3 monarchs when I think about it, having been born in 1951!
Kind of surprised no North Korean stuff was on here. Either Kim Jong-un taking power in 2011 or Trump being the first sitting US president to meet him. Definitely more important than the Titan submersible
Imo, many events could replace Titan on this list, but nothing about North Korea has made the world "stand still". So no, I don't agree with you on that part.
Oh yeah the missile test over Japan from North Korea, that made everyone a bit tense
I was working at a restaurant as a dishwasher at the start of COVID-19. Just before we had to close down, there was one night when one customer stole all the toilet paper from the women’s restroom. We should have been frustrated, but it was so ridiculous that we couldn’t help laughing. 😂
Same thing here, people took all of the toilet paper from our high school.
😂😂
What else could ya do? I mean idc how it's going, I'm wiping my ass. Period. McDonald's napkins got real cozy in My bathroom for a cpl days lol
That was a sign trying to let you know that the world was about to go crazy
it was the toilet paper pandemic
You're actually missing the 2011 Norway Attacks and the great Tohoku earthquake with the following nuclear meltdown of Fukushima Daiichi, these moments really shook me to the core
I remember being completely glued to my TV for weeks when the Japan earthquake and tsunami happened. I couldn't believe it.
Wait Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in the Philippines didn't make it? That typhoon killed almost 7,000 people here, it is more memorable than a stupid made submersible
What to expect although this channel is canadian they asume US is the "world" 😅
I never heard about that event tbf
I know🤦🤦🤦
@@graze-plays3594Neither did I
It wasn't just US news. Did you watch the full video, Paris Attacks, Beirut Explosion, Manchester Arena Attacks
The 2010 Haiti earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw. Killed over 150,000-300,000 people
The 13 thai kids rescued from the cave was a big one
It sure was. I would have actually put that, Fukushima, Sandy Hook, and a couple others as honorable mentions.
A hurricane that kills 1,000 people is more of an event then a tsunami that kills 220k… yeah okay
there's a reason why aliens attacking ONLY the USA is a world wide meme
Hurricane Katrina happened when I was in elementary school and I live in TX. If didn't just kill 1000 people. SO many people were displaced not just for a little while but YEARS if they EVER went back. I remember new students coming into our class from Louisiana all year long.
@@haileycb18 Are you arguing with his points? If you are, I have to say, "Americans..." lol.
I'm not arguing was just sharing a memory, but the impact that Katrina had on the US and Louisiana was bigger than just a death toll. The area took a decade to recover and many people never did.
I'm sure the same can be said about the tsunami. To be honest all human suffering is a tragedy there's no need to compare as if it's a competition lol that's honestly the shittiest take on this kind of thing. One tragedy does not invalidate another death tolls being higher does not mean the suffering is any less for anyone on all sides
R.I.P 9/11 victims
As well as all those who died in COVID-19
😔
Both inside jobs
For me, it started as another day of second grade. I got out of bed, walked downstairs to eat my breakfast, and saw my folks watching the image of North Tower billowing smoke on live TV. I wasn't too naive not to realize that this was anything but an accident.
@keirangray902 please stfu with these conspiracies

@@keirangray902do give your conspiracies a rest you daftys are stoopid
The destruction of the Titanic submersible sucked but I don't see as a seminal event of the century thus far. The fall of various African dictatorships b/n 2020-2023 has far more reaching effects.
The Arab Spring was way more of an event than the submersible as well. Titan doesn't belong on this list at all IMO. Kobe Bryant and his daughter dying in a tragic helicopter accident was more impactful.
@@Oz1976I kinda feel like the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and the other people in the helicopter was less impactful than the Titan implosion. It was a helicopter crash, whereas the Titan tragedy was a small crewed vehicle going missing somewhere in the ocean with no way of making communication with it, then imploding.
I’m shocked Sandy Hook didn’t make the list. Maybe it was just an America thing, but it defiantly made a lot of places stand still.
I think it's sad how Sandy Hook made the nation stand still, but Uvalde is kinda just forgotten even though it claimed the title of the deadliest school shooting in US history
I think that the Sandy Hook AND the Uvalde shootings should have been mentioned.
Unfortunately, Sandy Hook, Uvalde and Columbine attacks happen so often now here that the sheer number of them lowers their cultural impact. It is one of saddest things in the US and has been happening for more than three decades now.
@@turbochips6148there were 22 deaths total at Robb (Uvalde), there were 28 deaths total at Sandy Hook (Newtown) and niether of them is the deadliest. The deadliest was Virginia Tech, where 33 died. It isn’t a competition , but facts are important.
True. We are still feeling it, and still doing nothing about it. Heck, this could have been a top 20 list of mass shootings that grabbed all the attention and then were ignored.
The "thank you healthcare workers" sign got me.... Remember when we were heroes for 2 weeks and everyone banged pots and cheered outside the hospital? That kicked off 4 years of the most verbal and physical abuse I've ever received as a nurse from my patients. I came home with bruises all over my body some days from being punched or beat. We were screamed at and cursed as" agents of the government that's spreading lies and killing people on purpose" as we worked mandatory overtime trying everything to save them.
I almost forgot those two weeks of heroism until I saw that sign. Good times.
I am so sorry you had to suffer that.
I'm in healthcare too. Yeah BC the media had people scared over a virus engineered for Fear. But no one needs to take it out on healthcare workers
Well thank you so much for your service and I'm sorry people are being horrible to you guys. I'm chronically sick so I have a lot of exposure to all of you and you're the ones who make my life a slightly less living hell on a regular basis. I don't know why people think you're trying to kill them when you're not only being paid to save their sorry hides but you'd get worse than fired (jail time) if you messed up. Silly people.
Right? Wtf happened that we all became the bad guys? We had a room where healthcare workers could go to and cry or unwind. They really need to offer free grief counseling for everyone who worked through COVID, especially the beginning of it.
I worked in the ICU, we couldn't understand why we were getting so many patients with pneumonia. We got them through it only to find every other organ system was failing too. I've been a nurse for 16 years, I've never seen so many people die so fast. Still can't talk about my last covid patient death without tearing up. COVID crushed all of us, and while we're trying to save them, we're being attacked.
The non-stop TikTok dances didn’t help.
I can’t believe that it has been 4 years since COVID 19 happened. Everything on this list is is devastating, but wow…
This time 4 years ago we were all under lockdown. That is insane!
This happened undter trump's "watch" (or golfing). Just think what could happen if he gets a 2nd term... not just project2025, which is horrifying enough.

Nah the world did not stand still on the Titan thing.. more like a dumb fool putting themselves into trouble..
The world laughed.
Thank you!!!!
Also pisses me off how many people were sent to "look" for them... How much Tax Payers money went down the drain? But the workers on the Bridge that got hit not long ago, their search was called off last a day after. I understand they couldn't have surverive the water... but same the Rich dudes in their stupid Sub Toy.
I am still feeling that there staged their death, the sub did drownd but i think they left before, were helped off and then the Sub was send back down.. Wouldn't shock me.... but that is only my way to deep in books brain...
Yes who cares they were rich dudes and not really inteligent. How could that affect us?
The COVID and 911 really affected: the first one in health and with works the second US became more restricted with other countries and as usual blamed Afghanistan and Irak who let them destroyed 😢
I saw memes come out about the sub almost immediately.
I saw no memes for many more on this list. (9/11 after like 15 years)
Why was the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster not part of this?
bc watchmojo has an agenda to push
Because they had to put the imaginary Trump Insurreection. Same reason why they left out the fires in Hawaii.

I was on the couch watching The Price Is Right with my gramma, when the feed was cut to report on the attack. We watched the second tower get hit on live TV while they were reporting on it. Prior to the second tower they were thinking (here anyway) that it was something like pilot error, or a complete loss of control of the aircraft. It wasn't until the second tower was hit that we realized that it was an attack.
Thank you for recognising the Black Saturday fires in Australia. A day we will never forget
I'm surprised that the Earthquake in Turkey wasn't mentioned.
Or Haiti. It killed around 5x more than the earthquake in Turkey ‘23.
Why are you surprised? Apparently Americans think America is the only country in the world. I guarantee you nobody outside of America gave a fuck about the submarine imploding
The world didn't really cared about the Titan submersible.
Sure, horrific thing to happen to someone but It's far from making the world stand still.
Not even sure why it was included.
Maybe because it was a small vehicle that lost all communication and went missing in the ocean, then found destroyed a few days later with all five people gone.
Jan 6. One person died. A woman shot by a Capitol cop.
Did you miss the part where a riot stormed and trashed the capital building? The literal linch mob trying to get at elected US officials?
5 people actually. 18 more cops afterwards from the PTSD.
Okay
The bias is clear when the 2020 riots happened
Five cops died as well
Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that they didn’t include 3/11 (the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami that destroyed Japan on March 11th, 2011) on this list.
I would swap out the Titan with the fire at Notre Dame.
I was about 10 years old and in the 6th grade when 9/11 happened, and I remember not really reacting in such a huge way because I didn’t fully understand the death and destruction and chaos and fear happening. It wasn’t until a few days later that I fully understood the gravity of what had happened.
A few days before 9/11 my older daughter, who was 16 flew the 4,200 kms (2,600 miles) from where we live in Australia to Bali on a school trip. My six year old daughter was distraught when she saw the footage of the Trade Centre buildings. I had to reassure her that her sister was safe in Bali and wasn't on one of the 9/11 planes. Ironically on October 12, 2002, one year, one month and one day after September 11 2001 there was a terrorist bombing in Bali. 202 people lost their lives, including 88 Australians, 38 Indonesians, and 23 Britons, along with people from more than 20 other nationalities.
The Australian wildfire 2019-20 burned over 3 million hectares and destroyed over a billion animals
Not surprised 9/11 and covid-19 pandemic topped this list. However surprised the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami wasn't mentioned.
I love how the title of the video is "world stood still" even though the world couldn't care less about half of these. people in the west really live in their own planet

Nah, almost cared about the Titan Submersible. Everyone just laughed after learning that the guy who funded the project cut corners and even disregarded expert advice. The only tragedy of that thing imploding was the kid who just wanted to go to a concert but was forced by his father to go with them on the trip.

that summer of 2009 here in Melbourne was ridiculously hot. it was over 40 degrees celsius for weeks. the whole state of Victoria was bone dry that year because of the heat wave that seemed to go one forever. On black saturday it was about 50(that's over 120 degrees F). A lot of the fires were started by power lines failing on the day. The fire near my house was started accidently by a guy using an angle grinder. it was to say the least, bloody scary watching the black smoke and the fire a few kilometers away changing direction randomly with the wind blasting away. Full credit to the emergency services personel for the amazing work they did on the day and in the many weeks following.

Quick correction, minor… Katrina made landfall as a Category 3 storm; it had grown to Cat5 but blessedly weakened before making landfall. If it *had* hit as a C5, with the winds much higher, the loss of life would likely have far-exceeded the truly/ already tragic number of deaths that occurred.
9/11, was getting dressed to attend a friend's funeral when the news coverage started. That was surreal. All of the funeral attendees were just shell-shocked. 😧
It’s sad that nobody cares about Haiti , they were struck by a powerful earthquake then a powerful hurricane thousands died located few miles from us n we just ignore them even today with they chaos going on there but we care about what happens at the other side of the world. Also Fukushima should’ve been there at #2 in this list
My favorite musician Buckethead also wrote one of his best songs in memory of Micheal Jackson (who was a huge and early influence on him), Honing Beacon off of his album Electric Sea (2012). I highly recommend listening to the whole album it’s amazing!!
I will never forget March 12th of 2020, I was a junior in high school and it was during my 4th period when we got an announcement on our school speakers that Covid became a pandemic and that we are to immediately go home and that school will resume in 2 weeks. I never stepped foot in school grounds since. 😢
I was in my early college years when the pandemic started. During a speech course I had, I think my professor said something about us doing different lessons if the pandemic started soon. The very next day after that, the campus was closed and all classes were canceled.
I was waiting for the Station nightclub fire to be mentioned

What was so impactful about a bunch of privileged rich people dying in a crap amateur made sub, not beig guided by actual experienced divers but another rich guy? Everbody could figure out what would happen. Most people forgot about it after a month..
Right?? That’s what I said…🙄
"Rich" people has nothing to do with it. The event still happened, regardless of WHO was on board.
What about the son who was forced to go even though he didn’t want to? Is he not worthy of being shown any empathy?
The Titan submersible deserved an honorable mention at best, but not to be actually on the list.
The Indian Ocean tsunami affected people all over the world because of the numbers of people who were from those countries living elsewhere with family and friends still in the areas affected. My son’s daycare provider and her husband were from Sri Lanka. He, along with other members of their community, set out to raise money for their countrymen who lost everything. We have a pretty large Indian and Sri Lankan community where I live and they turned out in a big way to help. If I remember correctly, they raised a couple hundred thousand dollars pretty quickly. Anoma’s husband was recognized for his leadership in their efforts, not only here, but also in Sri Lanka. Their fundraising helped rebuild several towns and helped fishermen replace their destroyed fishing vessels.
I was working for a large travel wholesaler when 9/11 happened. Besides all the confusion, the grounding of planes meant we had thousands of customers literally stranded around the globe. I was a "special desk" worker who was responsible for handling difficult situations and customers. I dont need to tell you what the rest of the week was like.

The fact that half of these events are terrorist attacks really tells us about the world we live in.
The capital storming being above a shooting that killed 60 is kinda crazy tbh
I think that the hype around the submersible was so widespread because of the sheer, mind-blowing absurdity of it. Every piece of that event was so insanely bizarre, and it only became stranger and stranger. I don't think it was so much about people caring about it so much as it was about them being curious about it. I mean, it was such a unique situation; so unique that it was almost unbelievable.

Carnage? Calm down, Karen. This was the same year civilians were pulled out of their cars and beaten nearly to death because of a dead crackhead. One person was killed...by the government.
This is why you don’t trust the news
... for trying to overthrow the government.
Trump lost
Fact Check: Trump was still speaking when the rioters broke through the fencing after prodding from FBI plants. Trump also expressed that there would be a peaceful march to the Capitol.
Delusional much? And how long did it take Trump to tell people to go home? The religious right supporting a serial adulterer, rapist and business cheat is about right. You guys have no morality.
I remember the 9/11 attack as a crazy thing on the news.
I was at work during the time I heard about it on radio in Norway, and I was quite shocked to be honest.
When it comes to the 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Asia, I was half asleep when my dad rushed down the stairs to where my bedroom was, and said that there had been some catastrophic event in Asia somwhere.
I had to watch it on the news, and later I realised that what I saw was something that no one had predicted before.
I don't think I even had read it online before it had happened that day,and now when I see a documentary about it, it still feels just like the first time I saw the news flash.
Just crazy.
The Notre Dame catching fire should've been on here too.I'm actually really surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
Scenes of carnage? January 6th was a nothing burger
ikr
The 2020 riots did more.
@@lonewander6772 Were those riots in the Capitol Building? The fact that a mob of people wanted to overthrow an election based on a sitting presidents lie, is insane. And don't act like if they had gotten to the politicians, that it would have been peaceful.
“ some of them had guns !!! “ wooo im scared
Jan 6 should not have been on this list 😂😂
You’re never going to convince me that COVID-19 was more world changing than 9/11.
That's not the title of the video. Nevertheless, 9/11 influenced my life very little if at all. The pandemic changed how we work, how we interact with authorities, how we shop, accelerated progress in medicine, etc.. Globally. Let alone the influence on the political climate and the economic effects. Day to day life is fundamentally different from five years ago in large part due to the pandemic.
9/11 changed life in so many ways that have become normalized now that you don’t even think about them. The wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, airport security, electronic surveillance, etc. There truly is life pre-9/11 and post-9/11 and I don’t really think the same can be said for COVID.
It sure as hell was
The Covid-19 pandemic was something that happened worldwide, whereas the 9/11 terrorist attacks was something that happened in one country.
Don't forget the 2011 Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami, as well as the 2023 Maui Wildfires.
2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami should not only be on this list, but in the top 10. The devastation and concern as a result, including a nuclear meltdown, had the world gripped and racing to help. Then there was the coverage, something that no one had ever seen before and something I know everyone who was old enough to understand it has never forgotten, literally watching as a huge line of water, crashed over and destroyed everything in its path, all seen from a news helicopter. It was genuinely shocking coverage.
Sandy Hook should seriously be on this list. My mom told me that Sandy Hook was on my birthday, which sucks because now I know how stupid America is.
While Sandy Hook was no doubt tragic, I haye to say it but I don't think the world stopped as a result. Especially since these mass shootings became frequent in America.
@@nfsking27 ngl you're kinda right
9/11 ruined lists like this but the 2020s have been wild.
9/11 was the largest terrorist attack in history, and still is to this day. how does it ruin a list?
you are one of those ppl who think it's was an inside job....
@@rwwilson21Do you have any proof of that?
@@brianorozco1074 Oh I don't know the hijacking of the planes with boxcutters by al-qaeda, flight's 93 passengers phone calls(the most famous one with the guy saying, "Let's Roll"). shit like that.
@@brianorozco1074 If you think it was an inside job, just fucking leave the us and live in NK.
I am Native of Brooklyn NY Boomer, I was home and saw the second plane hit WTC, on TV. I was horrified to see the building’s upper towers damaged and smoking then when they crumbled to the ground, shocked, not a strong enough word to express my disbelief. Truly devastating
The top 5 is really something.
It made me think again.
It made me quiet.
The world has seen things in this century that’s just sad…
RIP for all the people that died because of these things that were said in the video
my comment made the world stand still
No it didn't
@@Reaperguy67 made you stand still and reply
@@GamingMyWay nope. You are wrong. Besides, I knew you were joking
It can't make me stand still when I'm already sitting 😅
I froze for a minute after I read this definitely stood still.
The queen dying at number 20? Should be a lot higher. Probably number 1. Definitely higher than titan sub at 19!
Not even close to number 1.
A minor footnote.
Did people actually care that the queen died? She was fake royalty. No power.
Not exactly unexpected. Barely noteworthy
The death of the Queen is only really noteworthy to Britain. And the Titan sub is barely a speck in this century, caused by stubborn billionaires.
U forgot the Wildfires in Maui & the Joplin tornado
I really don't think the Titan submersible is even close to comparable to some of the tragedies we have seen as a species
They put Jan 6th on the list but there was only 1 murder that day and it was a 12 year veteran being shot by capitol police. They want to claim 5 died so they use the terms "as a result" and "in connection to" so they claim deaths that occurred up to 36 hours later regardless of the cause of death being natural causes and drug overdose. Ignoring the calls for security (by the chief of capitol police himself) and police that moved aside barricades and unlocked doors while informants in the crowd (that go unpunished to this day) orchestrated everything. But sure put it above terrorist bombings, Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Beirut explosion and las Vegas shooting that killed countless people...
Amen. This channel also failed to mention a large majority of those in attendance were undercover feds, as well as Antifa. They also failed to show the guided tours the capitol police were giving. The people who do this show are your typical gaslighting democrats who deal in delusions and not facts.
Did you really put jan 6 on this list? Wow 0/10 mojo
Trump lost
Background music gives me chills
Wasn’t the Cuban missile crisis like an inch away from ending the world? My history isn’t great but my dad told me that U.S were air training and went into enemy territory (forgot who) and they thought it was a threat so they were gonna press the button (an inch away they say) to release their missiles which would activate other countries missiles as well, according to my dad that was nerve wracking, someone educate me if you know what I’m talking about
I really don't understand the significance of "The Royal" family if they don't have any power. I can see if they were a governing body.
9/11 sad 😔 day in America 🇺🇸
It was... on my way to work when the towers fell. I had it on thru headphones and i cried out loud. A bus full of strangers united in that moment.
