  • This week I am fixing up my Toro Timecutter SS4200 zero turn I got for $250 to see if I can finally flip it for a big profit! I already changed the head gasket on the Kohler single cylinder engine, but in this video I need to swap out the valve cover with an upgraded stiffener kit from Kohler, and also glue the seat foam back in place with some Gorilla construction adhesive. Of course there will be other issues that come up, but let's see if I can flip this zero turn and make $1,000 on it!
    Welcome to Garage Story!
    I'm in the business of hunting up old lawn mowers and other small machines, and either parting them out, or fixing them up and selling them for profit. Come along for the ride with my weekly vlogs, and how-to videos.

    Great job on this flip!! I couldn't believe when that breather tube came plopping out of the engine; that was hilarious! Thanks for another great video!

    I’m trying a couple flips, got a 2018 Deere x380 with 1075 hours, $900 last fall. Put 2 new front tires, driver spindle broke on first use, and oil changes, traded in to dealer for 2100 towards a used 2023 x590!

    I went to the parts house and got the value cover helpers for small blocks Chevy. They are triangle shape. So far so good.

    No it's not just you trust me I have them same pit falls! Set out to do the simplest job and all hell breaks loose! 😮 Went to upgrade charge pump cover on my Toro hydro very simple job until I stripped the screw 😬

      I just learned about it from Freedom Mowers - he had a RUclips short showing what he did. It seems to work! I don’t know how long it would hold for.

      Skid steer projects? Nice! I’m hoping to pivot away from mower content towards ATV’s and heavy equipment etc.I’ll probably still have occasional mower projects, but that’s the direction I’d like to head.

    • @FenrirFabrication
      @FenrirFabrication 21 день назад +1

      Very nice, On my little channel I mainly focus on re-powering vintage skid steers and other small construction equipment. Trucks and the occasional mower as a flip to fund the much more expensive skid steer projects. I just love bringing equipment that was scrapyard bound, or already there back to life and putting it to work. I’ve been watching you for quite a while and like seeing the zero turns and higher end equipment popping up as a new projects for you to flip.

      If I find one at a good price, I will definitely pick one up. Would be a fun little project. Currently on the hunt for a broken mini excavator to complement my little fleet of mini skid steers. Sadly I had a terramite backhoe sell out from under me a few months back..

      They are very capable yet crude machines. Mine is pretty beat but still does all I need it to, so I can’t complain!
      Have you looked at the cheap import excavators that are available these days? Or would you prefer an old ‘name’ brand one?

      @@garagestoryl use paint markers, the type you use for marking bare steel, they cover up glues, caulk, etc, perfectly. They're excellent for touching up equipment as they come in all the basic colours.

    • @garagestory
      @garagestory  22 дня назад +2

      That would be perfect for this application! Where do you normally buy yours? And how long do they stay good for?

    • @AirplaneDoctor_
      @AirplaneDoctor_ 22 дня назад +1

      @@garagestoryI get mine through my local CaseIH dealer, but you can get them at most welding supply places, napa, Amazon, etc. If you keep the lid on they can last a few years easily.

    • @AirplaneDoctor_
      @AirplaneDoctor_ 22 дня назад +2

      @@garagestoryNot sure why but my original reply can't be seen, but if you google paint pen you'll find they're pretty easy to find. As for how long they last, usually a few years if you keep the lid on them and have them stood on end with the marking end up.

    Where do you buy all your parts from? Have you ever had to buy wheel/tire combos? I’m looking for a place to buy them at a cheaper than Toro pricing.

    • @garagestory
      @garagestory  19 дней назад +3

      I buy my parts from various places: eBay, Amazon, dealership/mower shop and also various other online stores. Just depends on what I’m getting.
      I don’t think I’ve bought a wheel/tire combo recently. Usually for just tires I go to eBay.

    How many machines have you flipped that have come back because the buyer found some fault with your work?

    • @garagestory
      @garagestory  21 день назад +2

      I think I’ve had two come back. One with a carburetor issue and one with an oil filter issue. I actually have a video on the channel about that one, it was 2 or three years ago.
