All Star Batman and Robin was an absolute (pun intended) nightmare. I didn't believe all the bad reviews so I was excited to read it, but I ended up barely making it through.

Great video Jess! I'm going to pick up the Batman/Superman absolute when my LCS has their annual sale next month. I pulled the trigger on the Johns/Lee Justice league absolute last month and love it. The story is great the art is awesome. Sure they will probably omnibus it but it's just a nice read. Even my youngest son peered over my shoulder to check it out while I and then wanted to know all about the story. (he couldn't understand why they were all arguing)

Absolutes are so damn expensive in Australia, so this is helpful to know whether or not it would actually be worth the money. Thanks for the videos
Late reply I know, I also have no clue as to ausie comic conditions but in general its good to have some knowledge of the base comic you wish to buy and then look for extra features.
The big print is nice but I have atleast 2 absolutes I got for cheap that I have even yet to read because I decided to collect them without prior knowledge.
Some books are just better in any hardcover format.
I will argue the merits of All Star Batman and Robin all day long and how its actually a good (albeit overly heavy handed) exploration about why Batman needs a Robin. But it was never finished and plagued by crazy delays so it isnt super obvious to those who read it, especially if you go into it already having a preconceived notion that it will be bad.
Great video as always. I do own Absolute All-Star Batman and Robin but is because of Jim Lee's art as I also own Wild.C.A.T.s and Hush Absolutes as you can see I'm a huge Jim Lee fan. LoL

As always fantastic video Omnidog. I have a different opinion regarding the Court of Owls run though. Greg Capullo's art is so amazing i am happy i own this in absolute. If there was an even bigger format i would get it. That being said i pre-ordered the omnibus too haha.

All Star Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure for me. It's so bad that's good. I'm only getting the absolute edition because of Jim Lee's artwork.
Hey Omnidog, thanks for all of your great content! I want to share my experience with Absolute Superman Batman with you. I bought it for $38 last September when instocktrades had a Damages sale. Fun read, lovely art, nice sketchbook at the end. But as I'm flipping through it right now, I can hear the spine cracking ominously, and looking closely, I can see the little bundles of paper separating from the spine. The binding is still sewn, so it's not falling apart, but if I paid $100 for this I'd be pissed.
oh man, this doesn't sound good at all!! Maybe I should try and get it Damaged too...
Had the same issue with mine, followed Gabe infinity tips on repairing that awful miles morales omnibus and it’s been ok since. Can’t understand how they can mess up the binding on absolutes though, they cost enough!!!

I`m probably the only fan who enjoyed All Star Batman but that`s probably because I took it as a parody. The art was great but the story was seemly written by Frank when he was drunk. But I like anything Jim Lee draws even Divine Right. Great common sense video .Enjoyed it as always.

I've had trouble with all my vertigo absolutes for Y the Last Man and Transmetropolitan with their spines falling apart during their first reads.

Yes, DC is destroying my OCD mind with their releases... Why not the complete New52 Justice League in omnis? Or Dark Nights: Metal in one format instead of one OHC, two standard HC, and some trades? I live in a comic book Purgatory, Jess :-D

I think they should have done the 'Joker' batman new 52 books as the Absolute for batman, at least that way it would contain all the tie-in issues. That way it would be a slightly different read to the omnibus of mainly just batman issues. I plan on keeping my Joker hardbacks even when I get the snyder Omni's.

Thanks for the video omnidog😀. Some great books there. The ones that most interest me are the preacher absolutes. Never read the story but I've had my eye on the books for ages. The absolutes look gorgeous and I'm not a fan of the dull paper stock that is used in the hc's so I'll definitely be buying those. Looking forward to the third instalment. Peace and love ✌️😎.
Preacher is great, but it's quite brutal. Just to warn you. I love the book but it's not for everyone lol.

Love your channel. In India, I can't really buy floppies, so I am a trade waiter until the Omnibus bug hit me hard, and I blame/thank you for enabling me. I know this video is about absolutes, but I just wanted to appreciate how much I enjoy your content, your style, your obvious passion for comics. Also, is there any chance you can do a video on the Omnibi with the best extras?

I completely disagree on Absolute The Court of Owls and The Long Halloween. So what if DC never followed up with another snyder/capullo absolute? The court of owls stands perfectly fine on its own. Even referring to the rest of that run as follow ups is wrong. It's one storyline. Period. Same goes for the absolute Long Halloween. Don't lose any sleep for not having absolute Dark Victory. Absolute is the way to go for Long Halloween.

for me personally, it's too big. I'm sticking with the OHC's. But for the price it's a great deal. It's certainly a great. read!!
Omnidog, quick question. Will the Preacher absolutes go out of print? I want to buy the absolutes and have noticed that the prices have shot up on Amazon.
where do you live? Absolute Preacher is in plentiful supply here in the US. Eventually it will go OOP but right now it seems fine...
