And not just any NPR host, one that hosted a national broadcast segment. If you regularly listened to NPR at all during the time he was there, you almost certainly heard his voice
I was about that age when I got a whip at a circus, it was leather and woven super nice, was super loud. It was also about that age when I got it taken away LOL
He's good with the crowds that's for sure. This was just his record attempt so he had to concentrate. I love his shows when he's not under that kind of pressure though lol. Whipping to songs and stuff lol he's super awesome. Seems like he came from an awesome family and has a great passion for entertaining.
I think he's doing it to keep concentration on what he's doing, AND to kind of self motivate, see how many per second he's doing so he knows weather to speed up or if he can pace himself a bit
@@WillowFox yeah, that makes sense, though at times he counting to 4 very clearly, and getting to 4 after 2 whips, meaning hes also counting something else
Naw he practiced over a long period of time, he got himself to the point where his arms would just get tired and not HURT, I mean I'm sure he was giving it a rest after, and likely he was a bit sore but that's the life of a performer ya know? and to be good enough to hold the worlds record for anything, that's how you have to roll. I think it was more satisfying than painful all in all.
It's a fun show tbh, he does a lot of campy jokes and silly puns, music bits and so on. It's fun at King Richard's if you ever get the chance to go. He's there every year, doing his shows, and it's a great get away. Just make sure you eat before you go in, the food is pretty pricey there.
I can't imagine what his muscles and joints are going though. I just hope the cracking of his bones isn't worse than the whip when he gets older lol ^_^
@@daltonsparks1293 Really. It can harm your stomach, liver, heart…It’s really not something to use just to deal with lactic acid. Remember it’s a base: it can burn. Badly. You can only drink tiny amounts three days a week max, and NOT long term. Diarrhea is the least of the concerns from it.
IKR, but hey it was fun, and he eventually DID break the record, this attempt however was officially not a record break. The thing that bugs ME is, they're only able to count the cracks by observing spikes in the audio, and isolating them from the echoes off the FLAT FENCES around the arena and their own lapel mics... And everyone was asked to be QUIET... they didn't explain how they were going to count for the record... so stupid audience people STILL WHISTLED CHEERED AND YELLED....... after being asked to stfu lol. Probably making it super hard to pick out the spikes, unless they were rhythmic enough and you can zoom in on the wave form to where they should be and look for the frequency spike there.. just makes it harder. People need to listen when they are asked to please be quiet lol. As far as the tape, I understand that several people would have to bare witness to the guiness book official measurements. but they really could have done it better and more efficiently. anyway lol thanks for the reply ^_^
Naw, unless he did it as performers do, and we found out later. No indication of him being injured on this attempt. I think it was his shoulder he messed up, but I think that was before this.
@@WillowFox once I saw the date I realized it couldn’t have been that because he was still waiting for the go ahead from the doctor (while whipping 😂😂) during the winter.
It blows my mind that an NPR host was holding this record, up until the time he decided to stop being an NPR host so he could whip full time

@@redstonerelic Didn't he break the Boston Marathon Bombing, or was the first to report on it on air?
fun fact : he has comfirmed he has been doing this since he was seven.

is nobody else amazed this guy is responding 7 years later 😩
I respond as soon as I can dude.

Just saw him a few weeks ago. Always a great show
I would love to go
The hell’s captain america doing 😂
I feel like I can feel the pain in his arm, he was probably crying in the Inside

From all my years chocking the chicken and polishing the old rod I can't even imagine how bad his shoulder and wrist must have been hurting!!
hehehe yeah really tho, this must just wreak havoc on the arm
You can see he is getting tired
You badass/safado 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have just discovered your videos...I haven't had a good laugh in a while. Thank you sir!
i believe according to photos i looked up this did cause injury on shoulder/ wrist
I'd like to know what the joke at 4:32 was... lol
"A head of firey hair and a turbocharged backpack."
Is there anything this guy can't do?
He is really awesome!!
Yeah he is, I'm glad he finally got the record not long ago. He's also hilarious to talk to ^_^

If he wouldve ingested the right amount of baking soda it would help with the lactic acid build up causing him to slow down but will give you the runs
It can also harm your organs.
