Love all of Willie's songs. Whenever he was in Ottawa, back in the 70's and 80's he would crash at my place. My friend Arthur 11 did many of his album overs, Hobo's Taunt and Blackie and the Rodeo King....I still have 4 unopened mint LP's, which I will treasure forever, and play the 5th which is open! How I miss this wonderful man, his music will last forever!
Deborah Garrick Oh you just take my breath away! Willie has always been my favorite musician, songwriter and person. The kindest man I ever met! First time was in the Knight 2 Coffeehouse back in the Hammer and of course at the Festival of Friends. I have live recordings of a few of his gigs. I wonder if all of those unopened records were released on cd. He asked me once if I had an unopened copy of one of them so he could use it.-Bart Snow- Toronto
Willie was scheduled to play his annual solo show for me, at the London Music Club just days after he died. I went to the venue on the scheduled concert date to refund tickets - saddest night of my music career. I’d known Willie since 1975. Also, we were well into discussions with Willie, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, CBC and London’s Grand Theatre regarding a concert to be tapped for national release. One of the biggest disappointments of my life! I’ll see you soon enough, my old friend! Peace
My dad sat with Willie back in the early to mid 70's at a bar in port Rowan while Willie played him and his friends a few songs off a new album. Thanks to my father I know who this great man is.
A day is never sadder than when a wordsmith musician like Willie passes. They take a piece of us with them. But leave us their songs. Rest in peace Willie.
I recently saw a DVD with live recording of Fred Eaglesmith's band in The Netherlands. I was at that show and knew that Willie P Bennett had played the stars from heaven with his mandoline. He was a great musician and performer. Hope there's material to be retrieved from his vaults.

Rest in Peace Willie P.
A true original and one of Canada's best songwriters. We sure do have a bunch of great ones.
what a treasure gone to the West...a huge hole in the music world...and this is such a great song.he was so special.
In my vast travels and visits and jams around North America with my overused iPod - this is now considered the best song I've ever heard… period.
One of his greatest songs
Willie P. Bennett died this morning Feb. 16, 2008.
He will be missed so much.

Yeah, it'd get crowded with all of us!
Re the OM 21 - I'd love to strum a couple Willie tunes on it someday.
Oui
I hope that's not the one that was stolen from Willie's van in Hamilton.
