Last Christmas I made 25 pairs of socks, needless to say I’m all socked out. I’m knitting scarves, gloves and hats for my Grandchildren ( age 2&9). Children’s knits are the best for instant gratification. Thank you for the help with my zipper sweater it’s coming along nicely. My 22 year old wants one to. I’m not sure about presents yet. ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! That's a LOT of socks! No wonder you're all socked out! Scarves, gloves, and hats are great gifts! I love the instant gratification from children's knits! Good luck going forwards with your zipper sweater!
So glad you have made progress darning in your ends and have projects finished. You are amazing how many projects you cast on and it is a lot of sweaters which take more time. You accomplish a lot and your projects are amazing and incredible. Be proud of yourself.
I know you have Way more experience knitting than I do but I wish I had your courage to just go for it and do the projects I Want to do instead of playing it safe so much of the time. You are so very inspiring with not only the items you knit but also your sweet wonderful spirit you bring to this community! Your kindness shows and you are such a pleasure to watch. TFS 💙
Hi Oline! I could not see what was wrong with the zipper, honestly :D It looks great! I love your podcasts so much, there is that ease in the way you talk which really makes one feel like you are a friend talking about your knits and not giving a lecture :D I really enjoy everything you knit, I enjoy your honesty and I'm always looking forward to your new podcast!
Last Christmas I made star ornaments (actually I think it was from one of your videos) and it was quick and my grandma liked it a lot. I don’t knit fast enough to make bigger projects for other people yet. I also think handmade holiday decor is a good gift too
So today I finished the sleeves on my Amy sweater and I showed it to my husband and he said "why are you making the same thing all the time?" So the hing you said about loving stockinette but challinging yourself with the structured knits struck a cord with me. I do live in the south of England so it doesn't get too cold in winter, so I usually get 800m of yarn and crop the knits. Now I don't know what to do because cables would require more yarn and I am not good at colourwork. I am probably going to make soem Weekend headbands - they're perfect gift knits, could do one in a day but I love making things that bring me joy more (aka selfish knits). We'll see. I look forward to seeing your Dagmar, I am curious about the fit & colour!
My fiancé asks me all the time why I keep making the same thing too😅 It's been fun challenging myself more and actually getting a response other than "isn't that the same sweater you made last month?"😂 You could get more yarn to make a cabled sweater? Colorwork other seems harder than it is too! If you want to challenge yourself I say go for it❤️ Weekend Headbands sounds like great gifts! I'm really curious to see too, I hope my idea to make it in grey and oversized will look good😅🙈
In regards to the scarves colour, In danish we call that colour: Gammel Rosa - translated to english it becomes Old Rosa. it is one of my favorit colours in the world.
For gifts I most often make Jason’s Cashmere hat. It is an easy cabled hat. I make the brim extra long so it folds twice for warmth and, no, I’ve never made it in cashmere! Use any sturdy wool. I use Patons classic wool (177 m/100g) because I always have some. Peer Gynt, which is more expensive here in the US seems very similar. I so enjoy your podcasts.
Always lovely to watch your videos. I’m busy making hats for family and friends- a West Yorkshire Spinners pattern called Lumi. A chunky chevron knit- quick but not boring to knit. Also I’m making Shift cowls by Andrea Mowry for a couple of friends out of Schoppelwolle Edition 3. Such fun to see the colours changing and much more affordable than Spincycle.
Your zipper sweater looks fabulous! That color looks great on you and the uneven zipper is not noticeable at all. I think you should definitely leave it! especially with the green zipper it just kind of makes the lines sort of blur together in a way and not stick out. Never thought I would make one for myself but now I'm thinking about it after I saw this one haha....
Thank you! Having the zipper in the same color as the sweater definitely makes it easier to get away with minor faults here and there😅 I highly recommend the zipper sweaters!!
Hi Lena enjoyed your knits. Especially the cable one you are currently working on. I know you mentioned the new Petite knit jacket I think she is teasing a pullover in cables as well. For Xmas gifts I make every member or my family Xmas socks. I use the West Yorkshire spinner socks. Each year they release a new Xmas sock usually a self patterning I knit either a vanilla sock I have also used DRK everyday sock pattern it’s sized newborn to large adult. It’s fun to see everyone in their matching socks. I usually use leftovers to make a simple tree ornament so that long after the socks don’t fit or breakdown they will still have an ornament. Take care and safe travels.
Hi Oline! Your zipper sweater is so beautiful already and such a great fit! I don’t think I would have noticed any issues with the zipper if you hadn’t mentioned it and really I think it will be fine as is. That Sweater #20 has such stunning cables and your knitting on this is incredible. You should be proud that you are always taking on new challenges - also congrats on tackling so much of your end weaving. You should definitely be able to empty out your basket by the end of the year. I am planning to knit several Emotional Support chickens for gifts this year, as they look like a really fun way to use up different colors of leftover yarn and I may stuff them with scrap yarn as well. I will miss you if you don’t podcast next week, but enjoy your travels!
Hi! Thank you💚 I'm so happy with the way this zipper sweater is fitting! I was hoping the uneven zipper wasn't that noticeable! I really didn't want to do it again😅 Can't wait to progress more on Sweater No20, it's the perfect mix of challenging and just really fun❤️ It's been great to give myself challenges to work towards this fall, I'm already so motivated for knitting in the fall, and challenging myself has just made it that much more fun🥰 Fingers crossed the basket will be empty by New years!! Emotional support chickens are so cool! A while flock of chickens in different yarns and scraps will be amazing!!
Oohh, those are great new structured and cabled projects - I am really excited to see you progress 😊 The Zipper Sweater looks great and you cannot see the little asymmetry. I think the Dagmar Jacket is Petite Knits answer to Sari Nordlunds Book Club Cardigan, they have a similar look. I work on the latter one for me and plan to do a Book Club Cardi as a christmas gift for my mom. She is thrilled already and chose the yarn. I love knitting socks on 2.5mm, they are my easy projects to work on mindlessly, so I will gift socks this year and I have just started in socktober. Last year I did hats and headbands. Have a great week (or two) of knitting, I am always happy to see a new video pop up. So thank you for all your work you put into them ❤
I can't get enough of structured knits lately! I want all the structures😍 My hands are finding it a bit hard though🙈 I'm happy to hear the wonky Zipper isn't visible! That was what I hoped to hear😅 Yes, the two jackets seem to have a similar vibe! What a great Christmas gift for your mom❤️ I'd love to get more into socks and become a sock-knitter, I just need to start practicing I guess! Thank you so much🥹❤️
Love all your new knits. What about the Campus Vest by Aimee Sher for some Christmas gifts. All stockinette and could maybe use up stash. If you think you might use it, I'll be happy to gift you the pattern.
I would be splitting my sock stitches between 3 dpns just to carry on 😂😂😂 I have 4 daughters, and they are each getting a hot water bottle and cover from me this year. I've made 2 so far, and they are the Maxine and Pumpkin Spice by Laura Penrose. They are a very addictive knit xx
I'm probably going to do that! I prefer 5 DPNs for the symmetry it gives, especially for socks. But I did actually learn to use DPNs by only using 4 when I was young. I'll still probably get another set of needles, but it's a great way to be able to keep knitting until then!
@norwegianknitter definitely! I have 8 sets of 4mm needle tips as its the size I use most and I have many wips 🤣🤣 too many wips!!! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your cable projects this fall/winter. Cables also have my heart at the moment 💓 xx
I think you did a good job on that zipper. Most of us are too critical of our own work. I would wear that sweater proudly. If you look around, you'll see that a *lot* of machine-made knits with zippers have a bit of buckling and asymmetry.
It's so easy to be hyper critical after staring at something for so long😅 I've gotten in the habit of never making a decision to frog/rip out something I'm unsure about without a outside opinion😅
I'm so excited to see your Dagmar Jacket, that swatch looked so good and now I am thinking I need to make one for myself too! The gift knitting for me this year is very ambitious... I'm making Eva Cardigans for my sister and brother, a Lyon Sweater for my grandma and a Hazel Sweater for my Mom. My Dad got a Zipper Sweater last year but I don't want him to feel left out, so he might get a hat or scarf but I haven't decided on a pattern just yet!
I can't wait until my yarn gets here and I can cast on the Dagmar jacket! Let me know if you end up making one too! Wow, you're generous with your Christmas Gifts! Your family is super lucky to get such beautiful pieces! Those patterns are beautiful! Good luck🥰
"it won't shrink, but it won't grow either" really got me, and i can totally relate to that hahaha watched the podcast working on sweater no 15, and you really inspired me to cast on more and more structured knits, like sweater no 20 (yours looks stunning btw), ingrid sweater or dagmar jacket, but im scared i simply don't have enough needles to cast on so much haha! as christmas gifts i plan to do oslo hats for both my dad and brother, and a sophie shawl for my mom, and obviously gift myself some yarn;p
I just finished a free-drafted chicken pillow and a rug for my grandma, and I made a lap blanket for my grandpa (and the pups who occupy his lap in the den). I want to finish a sweater for my dad, but I'm trying not to stress too much on finishing it. If not for Christmas, then his birthday is in April. He runs cold, so it'll get worn more than only in the winter.
Wow, those are some amazing gifts! I hope you won't stress too much making your dad's sweater, if he's cold he can use it throughout the year, and a handmade sweater can be used for years to come too❤️
I am making the Strathcona Sweater and the Nanaimo Cardigan both by Tara Lynn-Morrison for my daughter and daughter in law. Not my style but I’m told they’re the style 20 something ladies like 😉. Anyway, they are both bulky yarns and very quick and fun knits!
My Christmas gift Plan by now Is to make Berlin scarf and stash bust as much as i can with them!🎉 Maybe also some hot water bottle and mittens but i have no clear pattern in mind!❤
Using Christmas and gift knitting to stash bust is fun! It's a bit of extra motivation to actually get through all the gifts! I want to knit a hot water bottle cover this year too!
You look really good in your Ingrid. I would redo ribbing on the sleeves, would make them much longer and folded. I don't know why but my sleeves just jump longer or shorter. Due to humidity?... So I like to make very long ribbing on winter sweaters and double fold, unfold if needed. I also have fingerless mittens long on my arms to wear under my sweaters if I need to work where heating is not good.
Long folded sleeves would be amazing! I do have some leftover yarn from the sweater, my plan was to make a matching one for my son, but I don't think I have enough yarn for his current size so I might as well use it to make my sleeves longer! My sleeves are usually the "right" length, but I can't quite seem to get it right with petiteknits structure knits😅 the folded ribbing tip is really clever! I'll remember that for my winter knits❤️
Will you wear the zipper sweater zipped up? If not then you won't ever notice the difference. I don't see it but I know we're much harder on ourselves than others.
Probably not most of the time, I find it the most comfortable to have it unzipped or half zipped. But I'll probably use it zipped up outside or if I'm cold. I'm glad it's not very noticeable to others! It's easy to get wrapped up in your mistakes when you spend so much time looking at them
Last Christmas I made 25 pairs of socks, needless to say I’m all socked out. I’m knitting scarves, gloves and hats for my Grandchildren ( age 2&9). I couldn't agree with you more. This is one of my favorite podcasts!

Badger and bloom in drops air is the most impact for the least amount of effort and money project I did so far.

I'm glad you found it helpful🥰
Hi Oline!! I love so much your videos!! Thanks so much for sharing with us your projects ❤

Yes, a lot of dpn sets only come with 4 needles, so splitting your stitches among three needles should be fine.
Usually I'd have ½ stitches on one needle, then ¼ and ¼ stitches on the other two.
I agree. Dpn’s used to have only 4 needles in the sets.
I'm probably going to do that! I prefer 5 DPNs for the symmetry it gives, especially for socks. But I did actually learn to use DPNs by only using 4 when I was young. I'll still probably get another set of needles, but it's a great way to be able to keep knitting until then!

If you have any of the red Peer Gynt left, I would unravel the cuffs of the sweater, and add more of the 2x2 ribbing before adding the 1x1 cuff again.
I do have some left, but I was planning on using that for a matching sweater for my son. And I don't think I have enough left to do both😅
"it won't shrink, but it won't grow either" really got me, and i can totally relate to that hahaha

Hei Oline! Lite tips,(Sophie sjal)Du kan bruke maskestoppere på strikkepinnene da mister du ingen masker og bruker de som små parpinner 😊
