- I hiked 25 miles out and back on the Southern Everglades' Old Ingraham Highway Trail. This incredible abandoned thoroughfare passes through hardwood hammocks, sawgrass expanses, rocky pinelands, mangrove strands, and cypress forests, almost all of the Everglades' most important ecosystems.
Spider webs, poison wood, mosquitoes, deer flies, sketchy footpaths, alligators, and 6 varieties of poisonous snakes . . . . thank you for hiking this trail and showing it to us so I don't have to. 👍👍
you forgot the Florida panther and the bear 🤣😂😅😜
Just beautiful! Thank you.
I’ve been in central and South America, Malaysia, Cambodia, etc. The most challenging camping I’ve done by far was in the Everglades. Yes, more challenging than the Amazon. Kudos to you.
Thank you for the wonderful video that brought back many childhood memories of family camping trips in Everglades National Park, Flamingo was our go to spot. In the 60's it was much more secluded with few tourists.
Back in the 70's and 80's my brother-in-law and I used pull off the road on Hwy 27 to hike out into the everglades for miles, wading through saw grass that was well over our heads. It really isn't bad as long as you don't draw your hand down the blade.
We would hike out to hardwood heads just to see what was there. We found piles of old pottery from the Seminoles and not much else. It is some of the most uniquely beautiful country with pristine crystal clear water.
He would hike from Alligator Alley south to the Tamiami Trail and just camp where ever he could find a dry spot. I never had the time to join him on those kinds of excursions, I had to go to work being a family man.
But he showed me the wonder that is the Everglades and I miss him very much.
Thank you so much for sharing that lovely story
Enjoyed watching!
I'm glad!
Thanks. That’s part of the fams stomping grounds. Fortunate temps for a 9 hour 25 mile walk. Hope you enjoyed it. It’s a hard but beautiful place. Loved the vid.
Thanks! It was a great hike.
@@SFLNature I used to run the loop trail at Shark River Valley twice yearly. Haven’t been to the Flamingo area in quite a while. The most recent Glades adventure was near Chokoloskee a few years back. Thanks again for the vid. It reminded me that I haven’t taken a walk or run like that in a good while.
Ahora tengo que hacer ese trail.... excelente video!
Beautiful. I can practically smell the distinctive dawn air of the Everglades.
Brings back memories of childhood.
Great video.
I'm thinking of bikepacking this trail in a couple of months. Maybe camp at the end the first night, then back to the first campsite the next night. I have been on it many times, and the last time it was already pretty overgrown. I used to see gators everywhere, especially the spots with the exposed culverts - one time, they were lined up along both sides of the road. But they seem to have found some other hangout.
The Everglades, One of the few things I miss from Miami. Loved to walk all the trails looking for small ponds to fly fish!
Awesome video !! I can't believe you saw a python skin 😮 thanks for sharing !
Thank you!
Such a beautiful trail my friend, views and overall atmosphere are just amazing!
Thank you!
Great job with these videos!!!!
Thank you!
Another wonderful tour. I was surprised by the clarity of the water. But I suppose a slow-moving river drops whatever sediment it collects far upstream.
I've done that Trail several times I was actually down there last weekend,... Last time was on bike makes it easier. It came up to a dead end But I think you could hook up in the opposite end. Farther down the Current road where I think I located the connection. But it's still kind Abandoned.
Awesome video! It should have a ton more views! And it will!!
Thank you!
Well done!
Thank you!
Very interesting tour, thanks! Became a Florida resident in 2010 & have had much fun exploring the state so far. The wheels are much too old for anything this ambitious.
Get an E scooter!!
And if you're still down there, I would recommend the Flamingo prairie trail. We did that last week and it's spectacular out there.
Cool!
hey pal, hey buddy, love the video! We would be good friends (I hope...). I am interested in nature! I loved your shrimp talk!!! You're full of info! Thanks for hiking!!!! :^)
I did that boardwalk you just mentioned I survived but that was a few years ago.
You're braver than me
Fire Ants ........... If the area is flooded and you are paddling a canoe don't stick you paddle in a round , floating , brownish mass of Fire Ants. Anything they can grab onto they will and that includes your boat , paddle or you.
Terrifying
I've been in here with ebikes. It's amazing

@@SFLNature thnk u
so did you survive the possible poison wood reaction? oh the snake was a yellow rat snake, would rather pick up a rattlesnake, they are less aggressive then the yellow rat. very time i pick on up they always found a way to bite me. and for some reason you bleed alot from the bites,
I'm still waiting to see but nothing terrible just yet
Any chance washing with Dawn dish soap upon exposure takes the oils off before the rash starts? Works like a charm for me with poison ivy.
Those gators are saying hey fresh meat.
so like no panthers? last thing id want is a bear or panther chasing me. im going to have to check this out.
You should definitely check it out. It's not really bear or panther territory
so did you break out in poison wood rash?
I didn't! It was a miracle!
Another great video. Any reason you didn’t bike this?
Thank you! Way too much poison wood in the second half of the hike
@@SFLNatureyeah I see it gets pretty tight. Should have finished the video before chiming in.
