Nathan Lane is just a wonderful sweetheart to share his award with Matthew Broderick. Nathan Lane is just the bestest actor in the world. Nathan Lane melts and warms my heart with his voice. I am just in love with Nathan lane. May God Bless Nathan Lane. Nathan is The wind beeneath my wings. God I love Nathan Lane so much. I love and adore Nathan Lane so much.
Saw Nathan in this twice - definitely deserved the award. One of the all-time great male musical performances. And what a humble, classy, moving speech. Anyone nominated for an award should be forced to watch this speech to see how to accept an award without looking like a stuttering idiot. Bravo Nathan!
I can't BELIEVE the orchestra started playing just as he was talking about his dead Mum...Gah. I understand that sometimes they need them to do shorter speeches but who decides when they start playing? They get it wrong so often.
A nice, pianissimo Give My Regards to Broadway as he spoke of his Mother's support for his urge to entertain. It may have been a cue to wrap things up, but it was well-chosen, tastefully executed, and entirely polite.
Love him so much (marry me please ^^). Nathan Lane is so underrated in Hollywood, shame. Brillant actors : Birdcage, Mousehunt, The Front Page, The Iceman Cometh, The Nance, The Producers, Angels In America, Penny Dreadful City Of Angels, Good Wife.
Nathan looks so cute and sweet here and i adore his acting and his singing and dancing and whatever he did. I cannot believe he aged that much in only three years after this when they filmed the movie. And really gained weight too. The baldness of bialystock is real or fake???
He did??? I didn't see the play but according to what I saw in a couple of videos here, he looked bald. In the movie he shaved his hair indeed. Besides, now that i come to think it better, he looked fatter in the play than what he looks here. Sorry for the "shove". English is not my first languaje. I made a little mistake. I thought it was an irregular verb.
No, definitely not :) Maybe what you saw was him on stage, really sweaty, so his hair may have looked more matted down. I don't know, but he definitely kept his hair for the play!
Loved Kevin Chamberlin in _Seussical_ , a musical that never imagined there could be a _Seussical 2_ or _3_ , and so tried to squash all the Seuss stories into one show, unsuccessfully, though there were some very nice songs. ruclips.net/video/ywtEUx8Y1sA/видео.html If you've lost both your parents, you're going to cry when Jo-Jo starts singing. However...If you have an actor like Nathan Lane and a part like Max Bialystok, it would be a travesty if he did not win the Tony, even over Broderick. Broderick had a similar spectacular role as J. Pierrepont Finch and received one of his two Tonys for that. One of the great acceptance speeches, because Lane actually knew everyone he wanted to thank by heart, didn't have to stumble ahead, go back to fetch a name he had forgotten to mention. A real _mensch_ .
They had just finished performing (in the very beginning of the video you can see them walk off stage) which is why they are also dressed in their costumes.
This might have been a Hit and it might have been one of the greatest play of their time ,but the movie version was simply PLAIN AND UNEQUIVOCALLY The WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!
Now that's how you do an acceptance speech. Humble, funny, and he thanked everyone he needed to quickly and clearly. What a legend.
"If you're good, we'll get ice cream!"-Nathan Lane 2001
OH LAWD I CAN'T. This was simply so touching. To have him just be like "hey, yes, you're coming up here with me, Matthew, come along."
Awww, it's so wonderful how he pulled Matthew there with him to accept the award on behalf of them both! :') That's true friendship right there!
I read an article that Matthew and Nathan made $100K a WEEK doing The Producers on Broadway. INSANE!!
But very well-deserved! :)
They deserved every penny!

By far the best acceptance speech I've ever seen. A truly wonderful performer and person, GO NATHAN!!
Thais is ok, but RUclips must see honorary acceptance speech of Stanley Donen

God Nathan epitomizes class. That's true friendship right there.
I love Nathan Lane!!! He truly is one of the very best Broadway performers there is!!! He is talented and also very sweet.
Nathan is such an amazing friend to Matthew, what a great friendship they have :)
"You can hold this, and later if you're good we'll get ice cream."
(Matthew backs away with the Tony....)
He was getting out of the shot so the cameras could focus on Nathan. Very considerate of him
Stumbling upon this the day Dame Edna left us. Thank you for the laughs! Nathan Lane is incredible - funny, humble, endlessly endearing.
A classic trio: Nathan, Matthew & Dame Edna. Doesn't get much better than that.
Such a cutie and sweet guy. I adore him lol.
It breaks my heart when he mentions his mother.😢 Mom, hopefully one day I can get on the Tonys and say the same thing. Bravo Mr. Lane!
They should have given it a tide! It's nice Nathan shared the award with Matthew!!
This is my favorite video on the internet, hands down.
Greatest performance I ever was lucky enough to see in a Broadway musical. “Betrayed” the very definition of a show stopping solo spot!
Nathan Lane is so underrated (movie or tv show). He's so awesome in every genre he plays.
Love you Nathan !
I know they were trying to get him off with the music, but wan't it just so perfectly coordinated?
Even he looked up like “oh come on”
So sweet Nathan Lane. You're the best 😄
Haha, I love how Matthew got dragged to the stage with a confused look on his face XD
The awesomeness of this man is God-like.
Such an awesome person, hugely talented too!
I can't BELIEVE the orchestra started playing just as he was talking about his dead Mum...Gah. I understand that sometimes they need them to do shorter speeches but who decides when they start playing? They get it wrong so often.
cokieblume They understood the power some good music can have.
Well at least it wasn't the poppy, upbeat music they sometimes go with.
A nice, pianissimo Give My Regards to Broadway as he spoke of his Mother's support for his urge to entertain. It may have been a cue to wrap things up, but it was well-chosen, tastefully executed, and entirely polite.
this was so touching, I love Nathan Lane T_T
Wow- that is honor right there. My already considerable respect for Nathan Lane just went up considerably.
nothing but pure class
True Class!
NATHAN LANE!!! XXXXX
Love him so much (marry me please ^^).

A great entertainer, and a class act.
Nathan Lane is such a mensch :)

The baldness of bialystock is real or fake???
The baldness was fake! xD Nathan chose to have a bald spot to enhance Max's desperation.
I've read that he shove the top of his head to look bald for the movie, but what about the play??? He did the same???
He had all his hair for the play. PS it's "shaved" not "shove" :P
He did??? I didn't see the play but according to what I saw in a couple of videos here, he looked bald.
In the movie he shaved his hair indeed.

That is a classy man.
Timon won his second Tony award for the Producers since he won in 1996 for A funny thing happened all the way to the forum
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH I CANNOT.
Nathan is God. I will never forget meeting him.
Dame Edna always gives the final wave!
I just find it interesting how vastly different the four shows represented here actually are.
Could Nathan Lane be more incredible? I think not

Nastilgia, 2020😷
Muy merecido
Did the two of them know that Nathan was gonna win or was there some other reason they were already on stage?
They had just finished performing (in the very beginning of the video you can see them walk off stage) which is why they are also dressed in their costumes.
@@anneza2525 Aah, right, now I saw it too! Thanks for the response :)
For g-ds sake just give out the award!!!!
And now he has three!
We're all better for leaving Dame Edna in our rearviews.
who was that next to kevin chamberlin?
I spot Sarah Jessica Parker!
Okay, you've made you're point...
Sure, sure, but how do you REALLY feel about Nathan Lane?
wtf springtime for Hitler?
I think I hate Dame Edna.
This might have been a Hit and it might have been one of the greatest play of their time ,but the movie version was simply PLAIN AND UNEQUIVOCALLY The WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!
+Marcos Cordero it was better in stage.
+scorpioninpink by far it was way BETTER!!
+Marcos Cordero The worst film ever is Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas. The 2005 film of The Producers was misguided.
The movie was great, ya'll just haters :)
What’s the point in leaving such a negative comment on a lovely video that has nothing to do with the movie?
