As you predicted, I am going to disagree with you about the idea of the Trench watch needing a screwdown crown. Lots of watch repairmen and others say that the constant screwing in and unscrewing of a crown wears out both the crown and the case, eventually leading to an expensive repair. This is why I only reset the correct time on my self-winding (automatic) dive watches once in a while. I don't do it obsessively, I just keep track of how far off they have gotten from the correct time. And remember, it's name is trench watch, not lake watch or ocean watch.
It's just basic common sense. The more often you have to screw down a crown, the higher the risk that it gets striped. There's a reason it isn't typically done any more. It was a problem with those Oyster Precisions, and there's a reason they wouldn't do it today.
@@bayaninarciso They are doing it today as of late. You don't see it from the big companies but there's currently kind of a fad going where small watchmakers are taking the rotors off of automatic movements to slim them up and make it so that you can't overwind it when you screw the crown down. Maybe in a few years we'll all look back at this fad and cringe, but it's back for now.
I don't mind that aspect of it. It's combining it with a screw down crown that is questionable. Manual wind means you need to wind a watch all that time. Now you have to unscrew it and rescrew it too.

I wasn't going to comment today but after first two minutes I knew I have to con-grads you for this afford and those ideas to make it fun.
I own the MKII and I guarantee you that you are getting way more of the watch than you would think for its cost.

I really like the Trench, just not the model name printed in big type. Otherwise basically would be a perfect daily for me.

I picked up the purple Tremor last week, and I haven’t taken it off my wrist since! I love the multi-shaded dial and the bezel being a different shade from those. I have no trouble moving the bezel, but then again I haven’t tried it in water. My only niggles are, at +8 to +10 every 24 hours, the accuracy rating could be better, and the name Swiss Watch Company is more than a bit pretentious; SWC would have been better, though I suppose the people at IWC might take issue. Some people have said they can’t stand the logo, but I love it; very playfully retro!
I watched as a fellow gas buying man threw something in a trash container next to where I was standing pumping gas, as I looked down there were two watches, average used quartz watches that did not work so I wondered if I could bring them back to life, took them home opened them up, new batteries a cleaning and a small amount of lube and they were ready to go into my weekly donation box, as I only give working watches. For over five years I have been fixing watches up and giving them away, many homeless people do not have any money for a watch but need one for a variety of reasons.
Nice! I usually wear my Swiss Watch Company timepieces with my English Suit Company clothes while driving my German Car Company vehicle. It doesn't get more classy than that...
They DESPERATELY need a new logo. It's really holding the brand back as a whole, the stuff they print on their dials.
Reminds me of my Swiss Military watch ... although I like the Swiss cross logo.
Nice opening, creative. Well done!
Seeing watches on a wet pipe where it might have just slid off onto the sidewalk gave me anxiety lol.
Especially with the leather strap in the rain…
I have the SWC Hyper-G in Burgundy, it's pretty nice as an easy daily wear! A lightweight titanium build with great AR coating and impressively bright lume. The two main complaints are that the logo and font aren't my style, and the Hyper-G in particular has a lot of issues with straps being too close to the case, so it usually roughs up the ends of the strap.
Trench is the only one that deserves attention, with no cons for me - push-pull crown is a must because I am a thread destroyer by birth, and I have a regular sized arm. :P . Well, price is for others...
Nice. I would like both. I'm impressed with the Trench price. Jury is still out on the diver pending pricing.
I would personally take the Tremor. Love the color marks. I'm just not into Arabic numeral watches. 🤷♂️ Love the dive watch look. Also like having the steel bracelet, which I can always switch out for leather or nylon with aftermarket.
You missed one of the biggest points about the new Tremor. They are using a modified lume technology. It would have been nice to see that in comparison to other well known watches.
My jaw dropped when I saw a NAKED WRIST! That is indecent exposure! *ARREST HIM!* 😫
You seem to be losing your mind, but that is ok as you continue to fit in with your fans and that can not be bad, I always enjoy your work.
I really like my SWC Trench. For me it is a more than acceptable trade-off between the contemporary (materials, dimensions) and a homage (style) to a time gone by. No date, hand wound, a regulated Swiss movement (mine has great accuracy). For the price, I think it offers great value.
The Trench is better that The Mad Watch Collectors 'Mad Hacker' effort :)
aha even in the video it looked like you struggled a bit turning the bezel
Looks like you’re also rocking a German Army gortex jacket
Dang! I hope I can find a couple nice watches walking down my street! Lucky!
Like the watches Ive.seen from SWC, but as a poor person I can't see adding one to my collection. Spend a little more and get a Longines from Joma. Or a Tissot for same/less money. At $599 there are a LOT of options for field watches that could better suit.
Not being able to turn the bezel when wet defeats the whole purpose of it being a dive watch.
If the Trench didn’t have that name printed so boldly on the dial I would be interested. It’s a great looking watch and love the thinness and the fact it’s a hand wound movement. Not a fan of the dive watch.
The diver is just another diver, not awful or special. The field watch has a vintage feel to it, buying vintage can be very unpredictable so one of these gives a lot of confidence that you'll get what you expect. For me the stap would have to go. The logo isn't great and is very noticeable (as is the huge TRENCH) it's put me off a few of their otherwise attractive offerings.
And I am not even in L.A. This TIME...😅
Why did you put "crap" on the thumbnail when you liked the watches?
Why Yew dude wearing german jacket?
That German army jacket is from the federal republic, which has had very good relations with the nation of Israel for many decades. Children in what was West Germany, and now all of Germany learn about the Nazis and the Holocaust and are taught to never allow that to happen in their country, again.
Numero Uno again...Damm
I'm on a lookout for a nice field everyday beater and the Trench scratches many of my itches... but I just can't deal with their branding. With the risk of being called shallow, I just wouldn't be caught wearing on my wrist something that has uglier and less professional looking logo than the cheapest of Chinese knock-offs (never mind the name itself). Not sure what they were, and are still thinking with this...
I like the trench. But i don't like how the word is written and the "manual winder" sounds dumb. Less is more sometimes
I would like a manual wind watch because I enjoy winding watches. I get that for some people it’s a pain though. I also like the case thinness you can achieve with a hand wind movement.
@@jacc88888 I love a manual wind watch. I'm referring to the dial layout
@@markhondaturbo Oh, doh! Sorry. Makes sense now.
They're attractive and always well reviewed, albeit in sponsored content but the logo is one of the worst in the world.....😂 Also I think that Tremor is a miss design -wise.
Love seeing Californians in the rain. 😂
Huh! Well! I had just assumed, because of the name, that they were... Huh! How bout that!
The field watch looks like the love child of a Hamilton Khaki Field Quartz and a CWC G10
Are they fake brande because i just got a rolex is cool but don’t think is real
Mate, why do you live in L.A.? I'm from Australia and really haven't heard much good about it. From what I've seen there are some way more 'pleasant' places to live!
😂
I got the Bunker. Loved it but had a questionable helicopter rotor. They took back but after arrived was worse. Stops and starts and crown grands clicks but doesn’t restart watch. There is 2 years left on the warranty and they won’t respond to any of my emails. I can’t explain this but I thought warranties were honored but maybe not. You should be aware
Hi James, I apologize that your emails were missed, I will reach out to you right away and we will get you taken care of! Apologies again!
I appreciate SWC addressing this issue. Sometimes these things happen. I hope to see a resolution to this problem.
@@jamessego6660 The return label should be in your inbox now. We appreciate your understanding.
A diver bezel with no grip, LOL !
I asked them where the case, hands, dial, and bracelet are made, and never heard back.
The dials on this brand to me just look cartoonish. They may be well made but they need some refinement for me…the name is just weird.
The Trench is gorgeous. The Tremor, not so much. I do not like anything about it. Just a bad aesthetic in my humble and worthless opinion.
Sad about the terrible brand name and logo though. The name is something somebody would come up with to fool stupid people into thinking it WAS actually Swiss when it wasn't. And the logo looks like it comes straight from one of the obscure Soviet watch factories that died in the 80's. I would NEVER wear one because of this. Ever.
when are you going to dump Los Angeles? Move your show to Florida or New Jersey.
Looks like a QVC brand
Cool watches, except for the fact that they have a horrible logo and unnecessary wording on the dial!
Trench is nice but they should make the Trench font bigger and add the word Coat after it for more popular Trench Coat for broader marketing appeal.
I know many in the focus group used to decide upon the name actually voted for 'Trench Mouth' but this was due to a focus group bias comprised of history buffs paying homage to World War I, when soldiers living and fighting in battlefield trenches developed severe gum infection linked to poor diet, poor oral hygiene and intense psychological stress. Not exactly the connotation most watch brands would want to portend.
Ironically the same focus group was used for assigning the name Tremor to the dive watch reviewed. Again, this was homage this time to Agent Orange which caused enormous environmental damage and human suffering in Vietnam and other affected countries. The Vietnamese government estimates that up to four million people were exposed to the defoliant, and as many as three million people suffered illnesses including cancer, birth defects, neurological disorders which resorted in uncontrollable tremor and hence the name of the second watch.
Ultimately, it is unclear if it was focus group bias ultimately that determined nomenclature decided upon for branding of these watches casting their fate in horological history.
…I’ve never hated a logo more…
yea I was debating commenting on how much I hate the logo
@@kyledriscollmusic well I woke up and chose violence haha
@@Five-O-Preacher it's a logo that inspires bloodlust
Jory why you continue to live in that shit state of California is ludicrous, thank you as always for your reviews.
their logo is shit and TRENCH is way too big
Trench: How to ruin a perfect watch with a hideous Logo and writing… had to say it. When will they redesign this mess of large fonts and ugly logo…
Nah, Pass. 2 big mistakes as you mentioned. Kind of a scalloped bezel and non-drilled lugs? Plus, that blue is kinda funky, blueberryish? It'll be like wearing a Smurf on my wrist and a 42mm? I can't look at any other field watch after picking up the Vertex M100.
