  • Wait until you see the surprise we found not far from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in Tunisia. It's a cemetery filled with thousands of American heroes. Turns out these halloween green grounds - with rows of marble cross headstones lined up in formation - make up the North Africa American Cemetery. It's one of 26 American military cemeteries around the world - from Europe to Africa to Asia. Learn the history of the American heroes who were laid to rest here, and the details of the brutal World War II battles they fought, that eventually led to the beginning of the end for the Nazis in nearby Europe.
Join us for this special Memorial Day edition of ‪@windowseatworldtravel‬ as we give you a tour of this sacred place, and tell you the story of an Olympic athlete laid to rest here.

I have always had an interest in the north african campaign because my grandfathers brother went MIA there. I learned through research he was listed on the wall of missing at this cemetery. He was a tanker with the 1st armoured regiment and is listed as missing on Feb 14 1943. So i happened to find this video and decided to check it out and wow i got a surprise. At 3:23 in the video it zooms in to the wall and there is his name Bernard W Siren

I would like to visit the Tunisia cemetery. I have been to the American cemeteries in Normandy, Florence, and Nettuno.

Most of them were mere boys, just starting their lives as adults in their late teens and early 20's. War is insane!
