This is easily one of my favourite songs from österreich and I never expected to see someone react to it. Would love to see more reactions from österreich from their latest EP 遺体 (Dearly Departed). From a fellow Aussie, keep up the good work.
Mei Konno is a really good singer, I love her features in österreich. This is one of the calmest tracks and honestly I still haven't quite figured out the meaning of it yet. I have a theory now since i've looked at it a bit more, and it feels like its about someone learning to believe in fairy tails/ dreams more / trying to be fun again as an adult? In the beginning its described that only the other persons heart is gonna be innocently happy. Then its said that the person is hiding the key and the keyhole knowing that the key couldnt turn. I assume it to mean that the person thinks they cant get as ignorantly happy anymore most likely because they feel like they've become an "adult", which considering one of österreichs other songs which you havent heard fits the writing. The other person in question then seems to tell the person to be willing to be cherished, which triggers them to let themselves be happy in a similar ignorant way. The last lines seem to be more accurately translated as "Eyes like flowers, nothing to see", which maybe means they are willfully being ignorant by seeing the world in a more romantic way now. All a theory tho because some lines dont make sense to me like "spitting into the sun" and "salt screening room". And the lyrics mention "Pillow Words" which are a literary device in japanese poetry to add meaning to another word.
Yeah, it seems to me like a very symbolic and perhaps metaphorical song. I was definitely getting dreamy, fantasy feelings from it, so I can understand your theory and I pretty much share the same thoughts with you. My take on the spitting at the sun line could perhaps be something about wanting to dream, and hence, maybe making it night (I.e. when people dream the most). But I'm not too sure, it could very much be something completely different 😅 Can't wait to do more though, I always love being able to make theories about music like this. It's a good way to calm me down when I'm stressed 😅 Thank you as always for the support and information 🙏❤️
