  • We moved to Oswego in August, 1988, and explored the city with a somewhat random tour.
We were happy there, and hope this digitized 8mm home movie brings back some memories...

My wife and I were in Oswego attending college from 1966-69. The blizzard of 66 was a major storm that shut down the city & campus for a week.( the bars were still open if you could walk to them ) It was a great time for us, both the city and the school were filled with good experiences. We started our family then, lived in Hamilton Homes, moved on to jobs in the Rochester area and returned in the summers to stop at Rudy's and rekindle the good memories.

My family lived in Oswego from 1968-1980 while my father was a Geology professor at SUNY. Love the video!

I had an Oswego State geology or professor in 1970 to 1972. A wonderful progressive, and a draft counselor. Can’t remember his name.

Class of ‘93 at Oswego State. Back then known as Suny Oswego. Buckland’s, Broadwell’s, The Shed, The Wheel, and Old City were the places to be. Proud to have been Oswegonian…

I lived there in 1963 and graduated HS in 1973. My mom taught German at that High School and my dad taught at the college. I remember the particularly intense 1966 winter with a solid week where it shut down the schools. We kids built great snow forts and did lots of sledding. I worked at that P&C for a summer job and remember all the places you show there except some homes in the video. I was happy to leave Oswego for college and life in big cities with better opportunities, but I still think back on those formative years with some fondness. Thanks for posting this.

    Buckland's Grill!
Went in there many times during it's heyday in the late 1970s while attending the College. Back in the days when the drinking age was 18. It was located close to campus, and was quite popular.
