This feels like it might be a good one to read the gospel with your kids, it gives an old story book feeling with the aesthetics, something you would sit in your kids bed with and read with them.
This is such a work of art. I found a short video of her doing the calligraphy in real time and it's mesmerising! Looks like she's doing all 4 Gospels. One each year. Definitely getting this!
Well I'll be buying this forthwith! There's such a rich history of illustrated gospels, with my very favourite being Eric Gill for The Golden Cockerel Press, which can be found in an excellent Folio Society reprint.
The cover looks very Christmas vibes. I can see people getting it and sending it to be rebound in leather so it has the look amd feel of a medieval book from a monastery 😊😊😊
Lucky Becca! I hope you tape her when she opens this special gift. I have no room for a book like this, and neither do the majority of the people my age in my circle of friends. Please do your best to show us Becca's reaction to this wonderful piece of art. :)
There is an Gospel book in Great Britain that is absolutely beautiful It is in Latin, and completely hand done on velum {sp?}. Pastors using it wrote English translation in between the Latin to make a very early English translation so they could preach from it. A number of years ago reproductions were made - actually reproducing the original materials. One with a simple cover was around 20K. Everything was hand done. The Lindisfarne Gospel is what it was called. Might be an interesting video - you can see why few people had Bibles early in Christianity from this. No - It's the book of kells. The Lindisfarne Gospel is similar but a different version, I think - going from my memory, which may be lacking. Also, the cost I've got may be off a lot, but it was very expensive.

I have the same Rembrandt painting of The Prodigal Son in my office. It’s printed on canvas.
hey I'm not sure if you take Bible recommendations or not but you should check out the orthodox study bible I would love to see your take on it!
