    They're all on about how this will affect children's right, but they have to really stop and think about that... I'm a child growing up in irleand, what about my right to one day marry the person I love? Why is it alright to deny me that right??

      I think most of the No campaign's arguments were awful. However, I thought that the argument that (adopted) children should have a right to a mother and a father was quite reasonable.
      There are well demonstrated innate psychological differences between men and women in general. The masculine and feminine nature for example. A child is better off with this complementary. It makes sense that through evolution women (as a group) have evolved to be more maternal and fathers to be more paternal. Like it or hate it evolution is what it is. Therefore priority should be given to same sex couples for adoption.
      Of course, there are same sex couples who would make better parents than many heterosexual couples. But, all else being equal, I think ideally a child should have a loving mother and father.
      I think you should be able to marry and adopt a child. But I think priority should generally be given to same sex couples.

      It matters because that is why Jesus came to die for you. Your body is the temple of God who created you and gave His Son to die for you and He says homosexual is an abomination to Him, those who practice it will not enter into Heaven. Moreover the laws of Ireland were established upon the laws of this same God and that is why you see Ancient Churches all over this nation. This pandemic is a warning to us disobeying God, go and sin no more else what is greater shall come upon you. Don't be wise in your own opinion, read the full Bible and you will see that God is not only Love but a Holy and righteous Judge.

    It's hilarious to me that some people are so concerned with other people's lifestyles that it makes them want to oppose and protest.... @@celticlofts I wouldnt brother protesting but to me its just the fact that. YOU know the wat one of Human insticts is to reproduce. And our bodies are build in a way to create a baby with the opposite sex. For example women have vagaina and men have penisem. And you know 2 women or 2 men cant have a baby with each other therefore i think tha same sex marrige is unnnatrually and not normal. And if i was in irland i would have voted no in the referendum. Like im not saying that being gay should be illegal or that gays should be punished. But i think that gay marrige is just normallising something that isnt normal. Like how far do we go maybe we should legalise 3 men being bal to get married? At the end of the Day Love is love right.

    • @AlienAndHisCat
      @AlienAndHisCat 4 года назад +14

      @@mariamchale8866 Marriage is a legal agreement between two persons to be together and/or benefit from legal protection of their properties etc etc. It has nothing to do with reproduction. If two people want to live together and have the legal protection and benefits, then why not? Can gay men donate sperm? Yes. Can lesbian women get pregnant with donated sperm or have their egg cells fertilized in a tube? Yes. You see:
      1. Gay population is only a small fraction.
      2. They can still have kids even if they are married to a person of the same sex.
      3. Even if all people are gay, they have sex with a lesbian, they may not enjoy it but they can. Or artificially fertilize egg cells.
      These three facts render your excuses not to vote yes completely moot. And talking about "normalising what is not normal", sure, the body isn't suitable for eating fast food as it destroys health, what next? Should we ban pizzas, burgers, crisps, soda, etc.?

      @@AlienAndHisCat no itp just the fact thet human brain is programed in a way to find the opposite sex attractive. Men are not programed to find the other men attractive. We find the opposite sex attractiv because of our reproductive instict. IF someone finds the same sex attractive it would have to mean that their brian thinks that you can make a baby with a person of the same sex nad there is something wrong with thinking that. So the brain of a gay Man would have to think that he can make a baby with another man if he finds men attractive. Nad if you dont find people of the same sex attractive then why would you date them? Thinking that you can make a kid with the same sex is SICK. but theses relationships are promoted as if they are amezing Cool and equal to marrige between a man and a woman.

      morning morality Seventeen countries already have same-sex marriage, and none of them used a referendum. Governments are fully capable of making decisions without asking the public; that's why they're governments. It would be quite pathetic if Ireland turns out to be the first country to actively vote No to same-sex marriage.

I am against gay marriage but I am happy we all got a say and I respect the outcome despite my personal opinion, We live in a democratic country and should do everything we can to keep the people above the government, Many people don’t get to dictate the future of their countries and therefore laws are introduced that the populous may overwhelmingly disagree but thanks to your idea that governments can choose our paths this would be the outcome.

    Living in Ireland I think many against homosexuality have been shocked and taken aback by how much the country has progressed and how a silent majority has grown in support of the gay community, so much so that it's almost a feeling of culture shock for them, almost to the point of denial. As in the video, there was a woman who said she wasn't against gays and yet referenced the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. For many younger voters, who've felt let down and held back by the ageing, conservative, and, in some minds, backward thinking, this is a chance to show a more progressive and forward thinking Ireland. This comes at a time of high youth unemployment (21%), high rent and mortgage interests for first time buyers, growing disappointment with decades of conservative right politics, erosion of labour laws and forced unpaid internships, etc. This is a lot more than just about equality for our homosexual citizens; it's also about the thinking that we go forward with in this country.

If people with brown hair could get married? “Oh no, you can’t let gingers raise children! Think of how pale and susceptible to skin cancer they’ll be! It’s just not right! Really... I’m just concerned for the children.” Like seriously imagine if people applied homophobic reasoning to other situations. I find it so unbelievable that it should even be a vote. I want to add something here (I'm straight). I used to live in Texas and the majority is gay unfriendly. Since, living in San Francisco for 15 years I would like to say, being a gay doesn't make you bad, there are some terrific gays, they run businesses, lead an average life, own a house, etc and if you're not gay, it shouldn't matter to you, they are not going to corrupt you or bring Ireland down. Heck, it'll probably help the economy in so many ways.
    So, glad I live in a very tolerant place like San Francisco Bay Area / Silicon Valley. The only thing I would say negative about San Francisco, it is somewhat a nanny state sometimes. Texas was too religious, Baptist wearing their religion on their sleeve and very hypercritical. Just think, how do you stop people from loving someone. Can someone stop you?

    I can understand the perspective of the anti-same sex marriage supporters. they are, in a way, correct. the ritual of marriage is traditionally of that of condoning procreation between a man and a woman (and objectification of women as property of men, but thats another story), then specific laws and rights involving married couples came along and it all changed. the simple answer is marriage is a very faint shadow of what it was many years ago, and as such the system will adapt and change. but only when the time is right. if it does not pass in Ireland this year, it will come up again in 5-10-15 years, and they will continue to vote until they acquire the rights.
    and for the record, I do support the right for homosexuals to get married. being one myself, it would be a bit ass backwards to be against it- but like i said, i understand the anti-perspective, and where it comes from

    marriage is not about rights, it's about religious obligations given by supreme deity to a man and a woman to procreate and to ensure the continuation of human species and providing the siblings with both polarities of creation (man and woman) as parents
    every human has this right to take this obligation but this involves leaving personal needs and desires behind
    where does non-heterosexuals fit in?
    they can't reproduce... but only convert
    they been prosecuted by religion for long time and now trying to distort the concept of religion and the very core of life just by changing present society rules?
    if they get what they want will they suddenly start procreating and reproducing?

      yeah but guess what. some people don't believe in the same religion, god, holy text etc than you. some people dont believe in god at all. insane, mind blowing, absolutely bonkers i know. you cant use an argument that is on the basis of something a lot of people dont believe in. you use the word natural. swans, penguins, chimps, dolphins, lions, elephants, cats, dogs, insects, foxs, giraffes, baboons, bears, rats, cows, goats, horse, koala, panda, owls, chicken, emu, sparrows, kestrel, ostrich, raven, and dove all exhibit homosexual behaviour, but only one species exhibits homophobic behaviour. so whats natural and unnatural, exactly?

    • @midwest_princess123
      @midwest_princess123 2 года назад

      what about single parents though? you think we should make being a single parent illegal?

    • @sgt7
      @sgt7 2 года назад

      @@midwest_princess123 I didn't say same sex couples should never be allowed to adopt. My claim is that, in general, mixed sex couples should have priority.
      No family is perfect. But in adoption we have the power to choose to some extent.
      I think the decision should be child centred. It is the child's needs that are most pressing in this situation.
      Single parents should also be give the opportunity to adopt. But like gay couples, they would generally be given lower priority. But in theory they could be successful if they come out better on all other evaluations.

    • @sgt7
      @sgt7 2 года назад

      @@midwest_princess123 And to answer your question more directly, single parenting should not be illegal. In fact, I believe it is better to live with one parent than to live with two parents who are in an abusive relationship.
      But again, ideally, two parents, mixed sex, reasonably healthy relationship with each other.
